Idea into product

Everyone has Ideas, how does the common man turn his idea into a product. Who does he approach? How does a young man from Tipperary get the idea of making a really bouncy sliotar in a product. From materials to manufacturing? Where does it get made? How do you get in contact with a factory in China?

Any information on the stages of idea to product are much welcomed!

Entirely depends on the product. There are a million threads here about it. Designing a electronics board, testing and getting it approved for mass manufacture in China would be entirely different to a new style of jeans being made in Pakistan.

Basic process is design, get the designs approved & in industry format, find a manufacture capable of producing them, produce a sample, approve the sample, import and sell.

The cost and end to end process greatly depends on the product, materials and overall complexity.

Give a rough idea of the product.

There's a world of difference between making a rubber ball or a calculator.

Itaye be possible to make small scale runs locally to test the market rather than going straight to China.
