Be interesting to see who will be the replacements if this turns out to be true. Any predictions?

Lottie should be the 1st shown the door, she is truly awful as a presenter. Then again, maybe her style appeals to the younger crowd, I am a fair bit older than her.

Larry, also think its time for him to go too.

Is this the new head of RTE flexing her muscles early on and letting everyone know they need to shape up?

Nope this is part of the Dan Healy master plan, he shipped all the older presenters off to the weekend in his series of shakeups, next logical step after that was show them the door.

Was he responsible for giving Lottie Ryan a job?

Whoever did should see the door asap.

As someone who is now in his 40s and who would listen to a lot of RTE Radio 1 and Newstalk more than the stations aimed at the 25-40 demographic, any time I do switch over and spend a few minutes on one of these stations, you realise just how much absolute cr@p DJs spout.

Inane drivel of the highest order most of it.

"Hey, why don't you text in and tell us about your holiday disasters".

It will be those generic Stephen Byrne and Connor Beehan, who I honestly can't tell the difference between.
    They sound like Deviants.
They'll probably bump Lottie up a few hours to a time when humans are actually awake on a Saturday, that guy who thinks he's a cross between Justin Timberlake and Dermot O'Leary that had a show on RTE 2 can't think of his name the monotone JJ Hartigan and they could possibly move Chris & Ciara.
But God help them if they give that sorry excuse for a comedian AL Porter his own show, I will set my radio on fire if I hear that innuendo riddled, immature, oh matron, did I mention I'm from Tallaght horse shïte.

Your radio won't be the only one worse for wear if Al Porter gets a show flangemeistro! What an utter dose.

Good shout on Chris and Ciara moving to weekends, defo could see that happening. It'd be a good training ground for them for weekday daytimes/breakfast in a few years.

Just fired off me C.V. to them there.

Now.....we dance the dance that's known as "the waiting game"...

I have said it before on this forum about the weekend/holiday fill-in's who have appeared over the last 2 years.
Yes, they sound the same don't have much interest or knowledge in real music and some are actually filling in on the Golden Hour - what an insult to Larry - ... (As one of them the byrne fella said last weekend "I remember being at an All Saints concert when I was 4 or 5 years old"!!!) ...

...and you can add a young fella called carl mullen to that list.
They are all Insufferable. Let's hope they don't get weekend shows.

Can't see a few of them leaving RTE altogether tbh.

Larry'll probably get something on Gold or Lyric, could see Will Leahy moving behind the scenes or doing more specialist stuff.

On Lottie Ryan, I haven't heard her show, but I actually thought she was decent and a bit of craic when I heard her on with Eoghan McDermott recently.

Larry and other 2fm names like Will leahy, Colm Hayes, Aidan Leonard (who is no longer Larry's fill-in on 2FM) and Michael Cahill are already on RTE Gold

If your username is your DOB, then at 24 she is probably aimed more at you than me, so you might well think she is a bit of craic.

Probably so. I'm also glad you gave me an extra few months on my age. I obviously come across as totez mature! :P

I would argue however, that appealing to people of my age group is what 2FM seem to be trying to do, so maybe Lottie is a good option?

Again, haven't heard her presenting solo.

sometimes I think I shouldn't be moaning about 2FM when it isn't aimed at me.

What they could do is have more music driven shows at the weekend like the main commercial music broadcasters, no need for mindless links. So have these randomers to a point in playing music, few quick links every 5 songs into ad breaks. Majority of the country don't work weekends so if you are hoping in the car to drive to a match or to see family or whatever hearing a few songs is easier listening than a show with backselling links you don't get.

From what I have heard, Larry is staying put on 2fm for as long as he wants to be there, because he is such an nice guy and approaching his 80th birthday not even Dan Healy has the heart to get rid of him.

I'd say the new 2fm format has been a disaster, look at this forum for example, not one single on going thread about any program on the 2fm schedule. indeed music radio is so pointless these days, RTE as a public service broadcaster should close 2fm and relay RTE Radio 1 Extra on 90=92mhz FM

Although I don't care much for 2FM or the current line up I have to disagree about closing it, younger people have just as much a right to be provided a service from the state broadcaster as older people. For the most part those aged 15-30 are not going to be listening to Radio 1, its a fact of life, they want to hear people close enough to their age, who like the things they like, and play the music they like. Its all well and good if you live in Dublin or in Spin/iRadio areas, but elsewhere 2FM fills, or it should fill, a void on the national stage.

Whilst I don't necessarily like Healy or the schedule right now (but in fairness I didn't like it before either) he was right to try change it. 2FM for so long was RTE Radio 1 'light' with music, serving an older audience. Healy has tried to partly transplant the BBC Radio 1 template onto 2FM and it hasn't worked too well, but some aspects of it make sense. There is a need for a national youth station...just the execution to get to that stage has been flawed.

2fm are targeting a very different market to the market that uses this board. The fact that most people on here don't like should be seen as a positive thing.

JJ Hartigan filled in for Will Leahy recently doing a 'dance anthems' type show. I would see this as being nailed on for the 5-8pm slot.

I would be within their target market and I would agree that the fact most people on here cannot stand it is a positive thing...to an extent. They do have a few serious schedule issues though...Game On is a bizarre part of the schedule on weekdays and I cannot get my head around how that has survived the cull...if they desperately want to keep a sports show put it on weekends. Breakfast Republic...I don't even know where to start on that one...irritating.

Yes, I agree, a Dance Anthems type show would fit well and would be successful in drawing in the younger audience. The weekend schedule they have right now is not representative of what the station wants to be so it would not surprise me if the rumoured clearout goes ahead.

There was someone in covering the Golden Hour on Saturday I believe, he was playing a nice mix of 90's and early 00's stuff, thought he sounded really fresh and enthusiastic. Can't remember his name though.

Maybe he'd be a good shout for a weekend slot? Scrap the "Golden Hour" moniker (because it suggests (to me) 50's, 60's and 70's music, and make it a general "Throwback" type show.

That was one of the insufferable young guys who sound the same as each other. Larry was due to be back last weekend though?

"Throwback" what a lovely expression that the radio stations seem to be using now....

Dunno, was only listening for about 45 minutes, think it was between 2-3pm, but not 100%, so maybe Larry was back ad this guy was just saying he was doing a golden hour type thing.

I think "Throwback" is a better term for what 2FM seem to be doing with their music policy. As I said in my last post, whenever I hear the term "Golden" in reference to music, all I can think of is Jim O'Neill's "Classic Gold Sunday", or my parents' "Gold Collection" cassette tapes that were loaded with 50's and 60's stuff.

"Throwback" has none of those connotations, and the whole #throwbackthursday thing will have associated the term with primarily 90's and early 00's stuff, with some outliers from the 80's and late 00's-early 10's
