The fact that they can sell single a single ticket both amazes and saddens me.

surely both venues are far too big for them ?

have seen them a couple of times, always a decent show.
Never understand why they get so much hate

I would have thought they would only do one show. Yea id say both will struggle to sell. I can see the top tier being curtained off .

These guys are supporting in the UK

Wouldn't be a fan but can't understand it either, not a million miles away from say Foo Fighters IMO who seem to be worshipped to limitless proportions then, baffling

Don't buy tickets, just wait, leading up to the gig there will be a LOT of radio competitions flying about and also will be a lot of very cheap tickets on the likes of adverts/donedeal

I go tickets to Kisss a few years back for 50euro a pair, same with the last GnR visit, payed 40euro for a pair

I tend to not take any notice of bands I'm not into. I tend not to bother checking to see if they've sold out or not, and I much prefer to listen to bands I like, and maybe see if they're playing gigs in Ireland soon.:confused:

I don't like Adele, didn't even know she was playing in the 3Arena until I heard someone talk about her on the radio the day before the gig. I don't listen to her music, so I kind of missed the ads for her gig, or didn't take any notice, if you get me.

Why worry about Nickelback, where they'll play, or to how many people they'll play to, if you don't like them?

I don't have strong feelings for Nickelback either way, not my thing so don't pay attention. But comparing them to the biggest selling artist in the world right now is a bit of a stretch :D

Good advice. It will likely be a curtained off gig, this is handy if they do not know how many will sell, if it does sell a lot of tickets they can open up that section if they want, so its highly unlikely that it will sell out.

Of course Adele was sure to sell out, utterly ridiculous to compare them.

Never understand why they get so much hate
    Their wiki page might help
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickelback#Reception
Nickelback have been criticized due to their over-use of themes involving "strippers, sex, prostitutes, drugs, sex, drinking and sex",[102] and for being derivative in the music they create, too often sticking to formula and being repetitive instead of innovative.[103][104][105] In November 2011, users of the music-oriented dating site Tastebuds.fm voted Nickelback as the number one musical turnoff, edging out Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.[106] In May 2013, the readers of Rolling Stone magazine named Nickelback the second worst band of the 1990s, behind only Creed

Nickelback need to be seen live before you start negative comments

Soundgarden played the 3 and were well past their peak . I guess it cooler to hate nickelback? I don't go on Adele threads commenting how ****e she is

The biggest tools of the lot were the people who threw rocks at Nickelback in Portugal all those years back. Imagine paying money to go to a festival and wasting your time watching a band you don't like.

Here is a thread on soundgarden at the time, which is a more reasonable comparison

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056952488

lots asking if it will sell out quickly and all saying not likely. No surprise there.

and one comment which also does not surprise me
Will they even half fill the o2 they had one song ''black hole sun''

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,863 ✭✭✭seachto7

    Soundgarden had "one song"? Hilarious.
Still don't get why people feel the need to go out of their way to hate nickelback. I'm not a fan so I don't listen to them.

It's like hanging around with people you don't like... Just don't hang around with them !

should be heading to the gig myself, another one off the bucket list. Setlists look ok and monster truck should good.

The hate Nickelback get is very undeserving, they have some classic songs and its been years since they played here

    Only 4 days away

Looking forward to it as there were amazingly one of the first bands I got into (was 12 when the awesome silver side up came out) and its taking me 14 years to see them live lol. Big fan of the WWE too which used a lot of Nickelback material in the past

The support band Monster Truck sound ok (such a juvenile but simple band name lol)

    Yep, agree. No doubts. Dreadful.

Although the singers "How the f ck do we get away with this?!" expression is funny.

And no, its nowhere near sold out. Hence the wave of radio competitions for free tickets. They can't even give them away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,595 ✭✭✭✭o1s1n
    Master of the Universe

Can't believe they're playing such a large venue myself at that cost. It's baffling. I'd say there'll be about 20 people at the show.

Really pushing tickets hard. Ryan will be plugging the gig too. Advertising all over the radio still aswell. There will be a man and his dog at the gig on Sunday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,458 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Lot of closed off sections here tonight but it gives it the intimate feel

The upper sections are curtained off, Standong area is curtained off a hit and not going back the full way

    Awesome gig

How you remind me was electric along with lullaby and someday

They don't deserve the hate they get. Only corning bit was when they mentioned they were in Dublin for the last few days they had 'pints', irish people 'love to drink and sing' etc

Monster Truck were quite good actually

I would have loved leader of men and hero.

Still very tempted to go to disturbed myself. It would mean going up and down to dublin twice in the space of 3 days for me though!

    Loved Ryan's cover of Everlong

That guy must of been on God's A list lol. Hes hansome lookin (coming from a straight guy lol) good musican and singer and he has thousands of people who adore him

Really thought we were getting an acoustic version of Leader of men but sadly not

    Next stop Ugly Kid Joe.

Went to the Belfast gig and it was pretty awesome! (We got Hero, just saying...) I really don't understand the hate for them. They put on a great show.
The SSE wasn't full but it was definitely not dead. I would jump at the chance to go again, and I'm not their biggest fan. Definitely gonna keep an eye on Monster Truck from now on. Even if their lead singer has better control over his hair than I do, and I strongly suspect is a lycan from Underworld.
