Strange question, how far apart are the legs on this? My tv stand is 80cm wide.

You really do get what you pay for.

I'm sure it's fine for a kids bedroom, but as a main TV for sports etc it may be worth spending extra.

Its 81cm. My tv stand is also 80cm, but tv stands ok.

For sport is very good. Picture is better then on samsung tv. But for movies samsung is better, has more natural colors.

My Samsung tv is starting to have problems after only 2 and a half years. I might take a gamble on this at 200 quid.

It can't be better for sports. It has 50hz refresh rate, your Samsung must be a cheap Sammy or else is a few years old. For a main TV you'd want to be looking at 60hz minimum, both for gaming and sports. Refresh rate is what is important.

    TCL?

    Think I'll pass.

Reasonable reviews of it about. Its a basic no frills smart tv. No better and no worse than any own brand tv out there.

Seems they are the 4th largest tv manufacturers in the world.

How would you rate the tv overall compared with the Samsung? How is the sound? Cheaper tvs generally have very poor sound quality.

How does that work? Legs just sticking out a bit either side? This is the only thing that's stopping me buying it, don't want to have to pay for a new stand too!:pac:

Ah I get you now, the legs are offset, not at 90 degrees to the tv.

Not sure, don't think I've ever bought a Vestel either.

Always been a believer in you get what you pay for in tvs

Vestel makes toshiba, hitachi, budget panasonic tv and many other brands. Sharp is made by umc.

I know that a lot of the so called big brands no longer make tvs, and that's the reason I have never owned one of them.

Closest I got was buying a Hitachi from argos a pile of years back. Thought I was getting a reputable brand
It was a pile of junk picture wise, so I took it back the same day and got a refund.

Ever since then I have only ever owned Panasonic (not re badges), and Sony tellies.

Was nearly tempted by the cheap Philips UHD TV last week, but read enough ropey reviews to remind me to catch myself on!

So basically you are saying this will be similar in quality to a rebadge? For me, that ain't worth buying.

    Those are all cheap brands.

I'm sure it's a fine tv for kids, but as I've said, you get what you pay for.

I'd avoid the smart TVs and try and get a decent LCD display. Smart function is just a gimmick, get as decent android box and you'll be much better.

Bought one anyway, all gone now. At 200 quid it's not too much lost if it is junk. Hopefully it's a bit better than Vestel quality and my Samsung that hasn't even lasted 3 years.

I'm sure it'll be fine, Chinese manufacturers have come on in leaps and bounds and at this price I won't be too fussy. Thanks for the bargain alert.

    The ad says:
    Digital signal format system: DVB-C, DVB-S2, DVB-T

Does this mean it will pick up saorview?

Saorview is indeed DVB-T, but, in simple terms, also uses MPEG4 for video. Unlike Freeview in UK which is DVB-T MPEG2. A TV with only DVBT MPEG2 will not work with newer MPEG4 video.

However, this TV also supposedly supports S2 satellite signals? I'd then guess (and only guess) that it'll handle MPEG4 terrestrial.

I bought this tv for 194e 2 weeks ago. Now is little bit more expensive, but still is good price. Tv is ok. Picture is nice, sound is loud. Hurry up, only 14left. Last time they gone very fast.

My Mother bought a Hitachi tv about 5 years ago, she was happy with it at the start but it's falling apart now, the hdmi connectors are loose and you have to fiddle with them to get it to work, the picture is washed out and there is a buzzing sound in the audio when the volume is high

I don't expect it to last much longer

If your Samsung is gone after less than 3 years I'd definitely be bringing it back to the shop you bought it from. under the supply of goods and services act, that TV was not of merchantable quality (assuming you didn't pour coffee into it or anything)

A TV should last a lot longer than 3 years

Looks like it is sold out at that cheaper price now , probably just as well , I was feeling an impulse buy coming on.

I found the official product page here:
    http://www.tcl.eu/eu/products/tv-led-101cm-f40s4805s#

If you hover over the DVB-T logo in the "Other Characteristics" section it mentions that it has an "MPEG2 or MPEG4" tuner - its a bit ambiguous but promising (I think)

It's 100hz, 'Clear Motion Rate' or similar, so it's basically a 50hz panel most likely. Most of the cheap sets have similar claims.

My samsung stopped working at the weekend after 2 and a half years. They seem to be the yellow pack of TVs.
