    The big one tomorrow -

However, what do people think of the treble... Yorkhill, Douvan and Thistlecrack - it's paying 1.78 on Paddy Power at the moment. Is there any chance that it'll go to evens?

I'm licking my wounds after today.

Ruby hairline fracture to the wrist, obviously out tomorrow.

Cheltenham takes a lot out of horses, I would be laying against that trio

Long House Hall in the first will probably be my only bet

If anything beats Douvan tomorrow, it'll be Alisier D'Irlande. Aintree was the target for this fella, so if there's any chink in Douvan's armour or signs of fatigue, my horse should pick up the pieces. It'll be fascinating to see how these two go up against each other tomorrow, both have trounced the opposition over fences and both will probably want to go off and make all. Douvan a clear favourite given what it's done, but 9/1 Alisier is very good value.

You'd think Paul will be happy enough to sit in behind AD and get a nice toe into the race. AD been very impressive but can't see him troubling Douvan unless he's well off his best but good luck.

True, but I get the feeling that Willie might just be chasing that Champion Trainer title and has sent a few horses over that may not be 100%. Also, you have to take into account that while Douvan has won doing proverbial handstands, the opposition it has beat has been weak enough. Think that Alisier is definitely a step above anything encountered so far and will present a different challenge. If it sets an electric early pace, that'll be something that Douvan hasn't encountered before, and if the pace is strong, Douvan (which can make mistakes in jumping) might make some errors along the way. Lots of if's, I know, but people backing Douvan into 1/7 would want lobotomizing.

I'm a bitter bollox so I hope one of the Mullins hot pots loses....again. ;)

I've a love of the sport but I just don't like Mullins/Walsh. The dicking around with Vautour at Cheltenham is a prime of example of why I have disdain for them.

Thistlecrack is a horse that I can sit back and just marvel at without a bet.

Please stop if he was better than Sizing John he would have run in Cheltenham.

De Bromhead had already committed Sizing John to the Arkle before Alisier Dirlande even jumped a fence, doubt Henry wanted to run two in the same race.

Awful card from a betting POV. If In Doubt is so short and ones I'd fancy in the handicaps, the ground has gone against. The three Grade Ones are dire betting heats. I love watching awesome horses but a bit more competition we could do with. Yorkhill I am quite fond of, I'll enjoy watching him. Douvan I think is a tad overrated. Before Cheltenham I read ''Min might be as good as Vautour but he's not as good as Douvan'' and ''Douvan is the best I've owned''. Eh, since when is Douvan better than Vautour?

Anyway, my National picks are (and only bets of the day):
    Morning Assembly
    Ucello Conti
    Many Clouds
    Kruzhlinin

    Same thinking as myself.

Been following this lad all season now and tomorrow I'll be having a nice bet on him w/o @ 10/11 and a smaller punt e/w.

He will be fresh and primed for tomorrow.

Panic attack. But my picks for Gran Nat

    Vieux Lion Rouge
    Buy Wise
    Unioniste
    Le Reve
    Kruzhlinin

Douvan is in a different league to the likes of Alisier D'Irlande. He's going to set it up nicely for Douvan tomorrow.

AFC in the first at 25/1 worth a small punt I think.

had to Laugh at Leon Blanche saying they went 11/1 Many Clouds, got bowled over, went 10/1 got bowled over and now he's 8/1.Now seriously if you were serious about taking him on it'd take colossal sums of money to move him 3 points from 11/1 to 8/1 in the space of about an hour in the morning

10s on Betfair for as much as you like. The reason I hate punting with Boyles they are continually the worst prices on practically every f*cking horse

Yeah. Of all races, you HAVE to get your GN bets on in the morning and take the best price - you will be absolutely rogered at SP.

7mm of rain overnight puts me off the topweights now. Could be a gruelling "Red Marauder" type race, so need a dour stayer. Two against the field for me are Gallant Oscar (18/1) and Goonyella (22/1).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,018 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Anyone looking at the last race? Nabucco at 25/1 surely a nice price? Back down in trip and over a flat track which should suit breeding. Not keen on the pilot, but I'd say John would love to sign off his training career with a win at Aintree.

Slight concern about the ground for him but he's one i'll be backing too, looked to be coming with a nice run at Cheltenham but didn't enjoy the hill, flatter track should suit and good rider booked in a weaker race than he's been competing since his return.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭jimjamcos

With OFB out I've gone for

    Morning Assemly (main bet) 25/1
    Druids Nephew 16/1
    Gallant Oscar 20/1
Home Farm 100/1 ew 6places Betvictor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭Peintre Celebre

I thought Ivan might be a Galway hurdle horse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,003 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    many clouds ew
    the druids nephew ew
    gallant oscar win
    the last samurai ew

worst national card I can remember from a betting point of view

That hill at Galway is savage and he's a bit keen in his races, don't think he'd like it too much after tanking through the race personally.

No one should do this special, if you are doing this bet, do it like a normal treble. Douvan is drifting slightly and any drift at all on any of the others will make it better than evens.

Powers trying to get punters in as if its a great enhancement but it isn't one bit.

    Best prices currently.
