Evens for both Rothwell and Dos Santos?? I'll be having a bet on Rothwell myself if only for the fact that he's such a nice guy.

    We're finally back! :D

A nice and early Sunday card for change. It's not great overall, but there's a few good fights in there and the main event is very intriguing. I thought Rothwell would be the favourite to be honest, but there's literally nothing splitting them according to the bookies.

I really, really hope Rothwell wins and gets his title shot. I know I've said this before, but after the way he conducted himself in Dublin he's one of my favourite fighters on the roster. It would have been so easy for him not to bother coming over once his fight had been pulled, or to come over and be a sour bollocks for the week (which he would have had ever right to be in fairness to the man as he was royally ****ed over) but he was such a good sport and couldn't have been any nicer to the fans. It would be great to see a genuinely good guy rewarded.

I like JDS but I hope Rothwell wins, he likeably odd.

The only other interesting fight for me is Taisumov, cause he fights out of Vienna

Rothwell is basically free money, madness that he's not a huge favorite. JDS is done, thinking another sub by big Ben.

Awful card. Main event will be fun though. Fancy Big Ben by sub aswell, great career resurgence, think he deserved a bigger name. Shame this was booked and he couldn't fight Cain at UFC 200

JDS can only dine out on his old glories for so long. Have a feeling he is gonna get exposed badly here.

Ben will rock him and lock in that nasty GoGo choke. The closest thing you'll see to a WWE style finisher in the UFC.

lol, fair enough. I jsut wasn't sure if you meant it was his finishing move, or if it was a move that some wrestler has been using

Yeah like finishing move. He's ended his last 2 fights with it I originally thought it was more. It's a nasty submission anyhow.

4 Heavyweight fights to close the card could go two ways. Hopefully they aren't 4 snoozefests.

If he caught Josh with it, he'll definitely catch JDS

Very interesting, I'm the only one picking JDS.

Love both guys, but I was a big fan of JDS a few years back when he was KO'ing the best in the world.

Yes he looked very sluggish against Overeem but I don't think he's done yet.
He has big power in his right hand, and I don't think he will shoot and get caught in a choke.

Big Ben win & Lewis/Gonzaga under 1.5 rounds is 2.5/1.

Shane Carwin has been a regular on r/MMA for a while now, and he posted some advice for Ben Rothwell.

"He is probably training on his footwork or head movement but that wont get this done, you must beat him with your face."

    His comments are brilliant. :D

How can you not love this guy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,902 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Yeah noticed his comments for a while now. He's a funny guy. Seems very down to earth. The way he goes on, you'd think he was just making up numbers. But he was a legit HW, with wins over the likes of Mir, Gonzaga. And so so close to becoming champ.

Had the winner but i taught he lost 29-28, late rally by the Italian should have won it for him.

Jesus bring in the stretcher. Ref should have stopped that as soon as he went down.

God is a shoe in for trainer of the year anyway.

Think thats the way heavys will go who are borderline, they will look at what dc and rumble done, going down with big power seems to do well enough.

This fight should be good, want Whiteford to win but Martins should have enough to beat him.

I think Whiteford can do the business here if he keeps it at close range against the fence. Martins wants a technical stand up contest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,539 ✭✭✭John_D80

    Rothwell via Decision
**** sake. Whiteford is gonna get sparked if he keeps all his weight on his front foot like he's doing. He's playing martins at his own game here.

Martins is so much more hesitant after being KO'd by Bektic last time out.
