    Hi All,

Next up is The Heritage on the 23rd of April. Its a busy one that day so we have no room on our tee times. We have the tee booked from 12.10 until 1.40, enough for 40 people as 4 balls.

Subsidised price for this one is €40 for members and €45 for guests.

For those of you that have not played the course, it is a cracker. Same designer as Bunclody but quite different in its look.

You can view the course flybys here - Flybys

I will be sending out teamer invites today. Please only accept if you are going, if for some reason you cannot make it after accepting please decline on Teamer or at least post here.

    J

Amn't surprised to hear that. Another great course in a totally different location.

To my mind it's harder than Bunclody ??

Looking forward to it as I finally seem to have hit a bit of form

    Welcome home, how was it?

    ****ing epic. :D

Will talk to you in the Heritage.

    Same old questions again.

    What tees are we playing
What is longest drive hole and near............... ?

looking forward to it - like the course, I find it very long/hard - can be windy too.

36 pts good score there - what were scores last time , must look them up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭spacecoyote

Lovely course. One of my favourites. Remember the first time I played it, maybe 7/8 years ago. Was crazy wind blowing, scored about 25 points but loved it. Some cracking holes with lovely finishes to both 9s

A lot of bunkers.given the place struggled for a lot of years I'm not sure what condition they are in.

Played it again maybe 3 years ago at a work outing. Think one person broke 36 points. Had around 32 points myself that day & felt it was a decent score. 32 was about the 5th best score based on 30-ish golfers if my memory serves correct. Boards outings tend to be a different kettle of fish though, so scoring could be easily higher

Big difference in length of holes depending on the tee box you play from what I remember

Results from 2013. (I hate countback)
    Post from then captain (PistolPete11)

    Heritage Results
Sorry all for keeping you in suspense:
First Prize with 34 points was Ben1977
Second Prize with 33 points was PistolPete11(Got second on the countback with a par on the last)
Third Prize with 33points was Fixdepitchmark
    Longest Drive went to Kiers47
Nearest the pin went to GolfGraffix
Guest Prize went to Anatom with a solid 32points
I myself finished with 27points and 7scratches, the rough was the death of me all day!

Thanks to Finnatron for the excellent company and great golf, I am not thanking Keano as he was like a child throwing the toys out of the pram was a struggle to keep him on the course

I remember that day, lovely sunshine, never thought I was going to win with 34. A nice chip in on 15 for the 2s pot. Only for 1 of my playing partners finding my ball on 18, I would not have won.

That would have been myself. Played with all the winners that year..... and finished it off in style :)

Was raging to have missed this on that glorious summers day 3 years ago. I was at a funeral and in a graveyard for most of it that day. Really looking forward to getting out for the Heritage this time around :)

The late start time is good. I might even get to do the first couple of feeds in for the wife ;)

Played it last weekend. Greens have been pole forked recently and in poor condition but I'd say they should recover by the time we play there. Rest of the course in good nick.

just checked my phone , dont see a text inviting me ?? :-(

played it twice last week , course in good condition apart from the forked greens but within 2 days i'd seen a big improvement on the greens so i'd say they'll be perfect by the 23rd.

So the course was very wet in places, greens have not recovered. Ball jumping everywhere during putting. Played off the greens.
Par 3s are quiet long off the greens, pins were at the front and averaged 180yds
Par 4s are a good mix of distances but
Par 5s are very short off greens.

The breakfast was lovely in Seve's Snug, and the pint was even better. Got hammered 6 and 4 after being 3 up after 3. Friendly game with a pal

How bad were the greens ? Do you think they will be good by the time we play them ?

The balls had a line of sand on them when they stopped. Hard to judge chips and pitches. We are only getting a bit of growth now and with a bit of rain it should improve. Think they were done 2 weeks ago.

Just accepted there now, will be my first game since the Ryder jug in Druids Glen. It's taken me this long to get over our defeat ;) An earlier tee time would probably suit me better.

Played it 4 weeks ago with society and they were poleforked then.

Can't believe they're still that bad. Horrible 1st time there

Hi all, been avoiding the golf forum as haven't been able to play since October. I have tentatively accepted on teamer for this one, as the Heritage is one of my favourites and I'm itching for a game.

I'm hoping to ramp up towards 9 or 18 holes early next week. After a few abortive trips to the range, I've managed a couple of sessions with lessening pain, so I'm hopeful of getting out into the spring sunshine soon.

Golfgraffix, I'll let you know as soon as possible if I'm unable to play. I won't really know until I make it out onto the course, my last attempt lasted only 4 painful holes. Fingers crossed I'll be able to join you all :)

Its bad when you have to play on greens in ****e conditions but its even worse when you are paying 40 euro to do so. If the course isn't up to scratch we shouldn't be paying full whack.

I paid €55 on Sat, they never said a word, which is even worse still. Will be sending a mail very soon.

Tendons are shot, complete surprise as I'm only a (relatively) young man :P Seriously though, it's something I never even contemplated happening. I'd advise you all to do some sort of stretching or warm up, as it's no fun not being able to play :(

The cause is probably a mixture of poor technique and gripping the club too tightly. Probably took the rehab a bit lightly and thought rest would do the trick, especially during the winter when golf isn't at the forefront of some of our minds ;)

It seems I'll have to do a bit more than just rest though. Been doing stretching exercises on it the last few weeks and slowly trying to build back up to swinging fully. It's bloody slow progress though :(

I came back to the course originally after a couple of months thinking it should be fine but after a few shots it was back to square one. The hardest thing is remembering to do the exercises. You never have any issues with tendons or anything else with all the play and practice, Fix?

I did a lot of swimming when I was younger. (alot)

I was heading to trouble when I was trying to break 80 that time - but I was going to the range way too much.

The best move I made was to nearly stop going to the range and if i was there get only a medium - the jumbo is daft.

If there are any signs of problems I do good core work on back.

But - I'm lucky enough, fingers crossed - I swing daft fast, I hope that slows down with age :D:P

I think you are being very unfair. We all know the Heritage is a class place, a quality course and on a different level to most. It has had its problems in the past as lots of others have due to money but they have worked hard to get back to where they belong, in the premier league of Irish courses.

40 quid is cheap. No, actually it is very cheap. I know from organising last year that prices had gone up considerably on 2014, and they have gone up quite a bit again this year. I think open comps in the heritage midweek are running at 45, so to be paying only 40 for a saturday tee time is a brilliant rate.

All credit to Golfgraffix on the deals he has done this year, he has gotten rates you could only dream of due to his connections.

Course maintenance has to be done, and this is the time of year that it happens. If you are not happy about that, then don't play
