What does everyone think of the guy posing with the Egyptian hijacker yesterday?

Got to say in a time where suicide bombers are now seemingly a regular occurrence posing with a guy who threatened to blow you to kingdom come is a slightly a bit idiotic.
I'm not PC mad one bit but I would go as far to say its pretty disrespectful to the families of people who have died at the hands of suicide bombers, seen this clown posing with one.

Sums up for me how utterly **** this social media age is.

It would have been funny if the looney tune "bomber" was smiling too.

it might have been obvious to the captives that the guy was pretty harmless and so maybe the photo thing was a positive in reducing the anxiety on board the plane and made disembarking an easier and safer task for everyone.

I"m reluctant to judge anyones reaction when put in an extreme situation without their consent.

If the guy was Irish we'd never hear the end of how much of a "legend" he is.

It was a stewardess that took the picture, obviously the whole thing was a farce.

Better to be taking a picture than mourning a tragedy.

The 'hijacker' is a bit famous too.

If there's a chance you're about to get blown to bits then you might as well have a laugh for your final few hours.

    get over yourself will you

how can you make the leap that his actions in one incident is disrespectful to others in an entirely different incident(s) ?? seriously.

Judging somebody regarding a situation that you weren't in is just thick.

I think the lad is a legend and fair play to him .

I'd imagine that by this time, the few remaining passengers had sussed that the hijacker was a spoofer and they were just killing time (for want of a better phrase)

What a legend though, this should earn him a few free pints.

A legend? Fair enough, you must be about 16 so for this to appeal to you.

The guy was by that time quite obviously bluffing and so the guy took a chance, whats the worst that could have happened?

Your a bit sad if this is the worst thing to have happened to your tiny enclosed view of the world.

In fairness, I'd say they knew at that stage that he had hotdogs strapped around his waist for dynamite and his thumb and forefinger for a gun.

This hijacker was the aviation equivalent of "Bang Bang", and therefore a legend of banter and, even more importantly, a character. His ma is probably a Dub.

I think himself and the hijacker make a great double act.

    Bant and hit-the-Dec.

(Except Bant is on the right and he should always be on the left, so that you can tell which is which)

Says he's not PC-mad, takes offence on behalf of others

And the man wasn't a suicide bomber, so there's that

Do you seriously think the guy would be standing next to him smiling if passengers believed he did actually intend to kill them?

It stands to reason that any person who straps a bomb to themself and hijacks a plane does not all his dogs are barking.
Even if this was some crazy (really crazy) cry for help... the bomber could have snapped.

Is it true that one of the hijacker's demands was Adele's latest cd?

I find it amusing that the OP is more upset than the guy in the hijacked plane.

He wasn't a bomber though, it was a fake vest and I think it's safe to assume that the passenger posing with him knew that.

Now I could be wrong, but I have a hard time believing that such a picture would exist if the people didn't know there was no bomb or any real chance they were going to die.

Funniest thing about this is the lad in the picture is a heaith and safety auditor.

I don't think it's amusing banter or an attempt to disrespect families of victims.

It's not funny enough to be one, or dark enough to be the other.

    It's just...a pic.

That's the problem when IT or social media concepts go mainstream -- the media misuse the terms so they don't have meaning anymore. See "virtual reality" and "trolls"
