Bobbys Kitten in the first at Mallow tomorrow. Won a breeder Cup Turf Sprint in 2014 and runs tomorrow in a handicap for D K Weld. Some change in scenery for it!

You do realise that the ground at Mallow will be a bog, and a million miles removed from the sort of ground that this horse is used to running on?

And it's running in a Listed race, not a handicap.

Rashaan in the first at fairyhouse. Has been up against the best juveniles in Ireland and wr know how the triumph went. I fancy this big time on the slightly better ground

    Sunni May 7/2 6:40 Fairyhouse ★★★★

Finished 4 1/2 lengths in front of today’s favourite Death Duty on debut. Was in receipt of 4lb that day. It came over this course and distance behind Castello Sforza. That horse finished 4th in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham. Sunni May is a further 3lb better off today with Death Duty. Based on form, over the same track, distance and ground, you would think Sunni May will beat it again. Blow By Blow appears to be the only other danger. He beat Jett last time out. That horse runs earlier in the card. It will be interesting to see how it runs. I think this is a 3 runner race, the 2 outsiders have no chance. If you got 4/1 about this horse I’d be all over it each way. Saying that though I think it will win outright. The Jessica Harrington yard are in top form and they won the bumper at the track yesterday.

Irish Grand National Preview - 5:00 Fairyhouse:

    Selections: Venitian De Mai 9/1 ★★★ & Baie Des Iles 25/1 ★★
    Outsiders: Wrath of Titans 25/1 ★ & Riverside City 50/1 ★

This is one of the top staying handicap chases in Ireland year in year out. It favours horse under 9 years of age and that carry under 10 stone 9lb. Novices that have proven form over 3 mile is also a plus. Most Firms will pay 5 places in this. We’ve taken all the trends into account and combed through the form. We’ve narrowed it down to 5 horses. The first of those is Bonny Kate. She’s a talented novice who should have no problem with this trip. She’s won her last 3 races and should be there or thereabouts today. Favourites do have a poor record in this race though and she looks to be too short at 13/2.

Baie Des Iles is 5lb better off with Bonny Kate today, he was a staying on 2nd to Bonny Kate on their only meeting over 3 mile 4f.. Baie Des Iles is a horse that we’ve fancied for this race for some time. This horse may only be 5 but he has an abundance of stamina. Ran a cracking race in the Grade 2 Bobbyjo Chase here last month when 4th to the 5 time Grade 1 winner Boston Bob. Katie Walsh rides this horse for her partner Ross O’Sullivan. There have been good vibes out of the stable all week for this horse. Katie Walsh won the race last year and she could follow up again. Venitian De Mai is the one that brings the best form into the race. Won a Down Royal beginners chase and followed up with an emphatic win on handicap debut over stablemate Goonyella in 3 mile Leinster National at Naas three weeks ago. He clearly outstayed Goonyella that day and that one is not devoid of stamina, far from it. Goonyella won the Midlands National last year and was 2nd in the Scottish National.

Venitian de Mai has gone up 10lb for that win but is till on the up and up. Encounters better ground here too which can only help. Has to be seriously considered today. Two outsiders with a live chance are Wrath Of Titans and Riverside City. Wrath of Titans has some decent novice chase form. He always runs as if marathon trips like this would suit. Is unexposed over fences and had graded form over hurdle. The same connections of this horse won the race last year with an outsider too. Riverside City should not be 50/1 for this race. He has some top handicap chase form. He won the Troytown Chase and finished a good 5th in the Paddy Power Chase. Both of those races have proven to be good trials for this race in the past. I’d ignore its last two runs, it was held up out the back in both and was never put into the race. Given the connections and that Nina Carberry is on board, they mean business today. Has a very low racing weight and could surprise quite a few.

Cause Of Causes 50/1 with William Hill for the national. Don't really fancy it, but had 2 quid on that that crazy price.

Venitien De Mai for me as well at 10/1, this one fits the profile of Irish national winners, has been in superb form and will have no problem with course, distance or ground. Also have a small bet on Folsom Blue at 33/1. Beaten by Bonny Kate last time out, this time out there's an 18lb swing in the weights in favour of Folsom Blue.

Theatre Princess in the 3.35 cork, take the 7/2 that's left. Won't last either. Being cleaned. Expected to win.

Same with blasez peg in the last at 14/1 but it is no bigger than 7/1 now.

I like Jarob, won a chase in September quite cosily and only run twice since over hurdles as i presume they felt they had a very fair chase mark and didn't want to ruin it.
Won one of them hurdles off a mark of 130 and he runs off 130 today, his next hurdle run he finished 7th over an inadequate 2 mile but it was a bunch finish and the form of it is working out really nicely with 1st and second that day winning nicely since.
He's a winning point to pointer so likely he'll be a better chaser than hurdler and over a trip(not an exact science) and at 33/1 i think that's a fair price for sure.

    Id assume the ground

Keeping him for the Grand national i'm guessing. Must've heard of a few likely withdrawals. Don't think the ground's too bad at all so doubt it's it.

Russe Blanc e/w in the national and one other I haven't picked yet.

Silvestre de Sousa set of doubles and trebles (Basigstoke, Kenstone, Top of the Glas and Jordan James)

Grey Gold, and I've followed the tips for Theatre Princess and Blazes Peg.

Grey gold & Russe Blanc double :pac:

Sin é, for now anyway. :)

Weld has very little history in sprints. If Eddie Lynam was a bigger name I would have sent the horse there, but what would I know.

Hope Ramsey's like soft ground (they don't) . Someone mentioned Galway... bet me to it.

Hope Weld does succeed, I like him and Pat Smullen

The poor horse won't know what hit him. He was't fond of the "soft" at Keenland

i woulda been amazed if he had of ran....too soon after cheltenham, and running off top weight , when the biggest weight to win the national since 2000 is 10 stone 13.....on top of this he can run at aintree off 12lbs lower and more rest and a lovely racing weight (if he gets in)

he woulda been a super place lay if he did run, as is mala beach who wont stay and has too much weight, place lay all day.

He's the one I keep coming back to but whether or not he'll be good enough I'm not sure but going to chance.

Had a few bets today. Corail is a massive price at Cork at 20/1 in the opener. Have the well backed Shanghai Beauty in the third and Leg Lock Luke at chepstow

Yeah I was wondering if that was the case. Will be hard for him to get in at aintree but maybe connections know something we don't. Will be interesting if he does squeeze in though.

He is surely good enough to place. Stamina not an issue. Personally, I always prefer that the jockey knows the horse - bar when Geraghty is steering , he seems (or use to seem ) to have no problems

Anyone notice that Ruby Walsh is wasting himself down to 10 stone 1 to take the ride on Isleofhopeanddreams in the 3:50?

He was not the only one. Geerrrrrrrr! I actually was one of the first to point out that he was running yesterday on the other thread. I was sneering at the idea of winning on soft , but noting that the others were not group 1 horses. Grrrr

Total Recall and Sheamus worth some E/W money in the 15:50 and 16:20 at Fairyhouse today ;)

Why do they let him on any show? Absolute clown. Maybe he thinks that trainers licences should be handed down like hereditary titles.
