    Really?

I guess some people are unfamiliar with the "Religion of peace"(tm)

"stabbed 30 times by a FELLOW MUSLIM who sat laughing on his dying victim's chest"

    Holy shít, that's obscene.

    Really?

Yes really. I am very familiar with it, unfortunately. I just don't understand how anyone can think the way they do.

This is such a sad and unforgivable crime. His poor brother. Do you include the peaceful, well-integrated Muslim who was the victim of this horrible attack in the "they" you mention?

In my spare time I like long walks on the beach and taking advantage of horrific murders to make political points.

Of course not. The 'they' I mention is anyone who commits vicious crimes, assault or murder.

There is some tension within the Muslim community in Glasgow. The recent carry on at the Central mosque is a case in point, old school versus more inclusive new school. Although not confirmed, this looks like another example

Hardly surprising Muslims don't want to openly condemn the extremists with nut jobs like this about.

Hopefully the majority of them don't think like the nut job but sometimes i wonder.

    Oh god that's horrific.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Reprehensible and repugnant. Our universe is corrupt...too bad we can't do a system restore. R.i.p.

Opened this thread presuming it was going to be a far right islamphobic killing pretty shocking what it actually is.
I know certain fundamentalist islamists take a twisted approach to the Koran but even taking that Islam recognises Jesus as a prophet ( but not the son of god) so is recognising Good Friday (not the resurrection) at all contrary to the Koran? (I don't know much about this really)

I think you're getting confused, ISIS and other murdering extremists such as the IRA don't actually give a **** about what their cover religion actually teaches.

I just did . . . I wouldn't let any child killer look after my kids.

Or are you going to try and threaten me if I don't ? Cmon then big man.

Islam styles itself as the last and final revelation of God. Meaning it is very difficult to moderate or update the doctrine. You can't do a Vatican 2 on it.

This is silly. Humans, as a habit, tend to prefer what they know and understand to what they don't, even if it's the same thing or similar. If a Catholic extremist and a Muslim extremist commit murder, in this country, the Muslim is going to look worse because of our familiarity with Catholism. If the both claim it's in their religious texts, then we know the Catholic is just crazy because we are familiar with the religion. With the Muslim, there's always going to be that underlying bit of doubt due to ignorance of the religion that we, as a nation in general, have had little exposure to until now.

You are not comfortable with my previous question because your likely answer makes you determine that there is a preference on your part.

Well, it's more a parallel. There is a certain type of mostly male, young person to be found anywhere in humanity.
Normally recognised by a stooping gait, receding brow and bleeding knuckles from dragging them on the ground. Bit left behind by evolution.
Mostly angry, confused and not even sure why, because they lack the brain matter to figure out why.
What they like to do is murder, maim and as a hobby, rape and inflict violence. Did I just describe any particular type of group or person? No, you will generally find this in the group calling itself Homo Sapiens.
In a word, there are murdering, violent assholes all over the planet. You find them in gangs, criminal organisations, governments, armies, militias, religious groups, in short everywhere.
And yes, the Irish count. You can be sure there were members of the IRA who would cum in their pants when they got to beat someone to a bloody pulp with a nail studded baseball bat. Does this single out the Irish? Well no, iwe're just part of it.

    TL:DR:
People are violent cnuts. Everywhere. If it is less so here in Western society, it's because we have law enforcement. Without that, it would look like Somalia here.
    Oh and by the way:
People who now bleat and moan about Islam, I think you should pay the newspaper article a liiitle more attention, you may be surprised when you work it out (after 5 minutes of moving your lips whilst reading it again)

    edit:
The only way to defeat those cnuts is to stand together. If the christian and muslim community now start to argue and fight, the extremists have achieved their goal. I for example discriminate don't against christians, despite centuries of violence, bloodshead, extremism, torture and "holy" wars.
And of course because I know my god is the ONLY true God! ;) (for those of you on mobiles, check out venganza.org)

Islamic extremism just seems to be an outlet for violent criminals who simply happen to be Muslims. So many of these people have criminal records. The victim in this case seemed to be a really decent human being, his killer deserves as little mercy as he showed his victim.

    Glazers Out!

Deeply religious, Mr Shah worked to foster cross-community relations in Glasgow and had been planning to host an online debate last night with Christian friends about the importance of Easter. Friends said he observed both Christian and Muslim holidays, and never failed to send out Easter and Christmas cards. And he used his social media accounts to promote harmony on religious holidays.

If only more followers of organised religion (and I don't just mean Islam) were like him, the world would be a much better place. :(

Should we rename this thread "Scottish Muslim shopkeeper killed and random musings on the IRA"? The thread title as it is is somewhat misleading....

But why is it that we don't see as many things like this being committed in the name of Christianity? If it was simply a case of mental illness then surely there would be roughly the same number of these kind of 'religious honor killings' committed by Christians as those committed by Muslims. Surely there has to be some other factor?

I already answered it, neither. Unless you think you can threaten me into either letting a muslim child killer "look after" my kids, or a provo child killer "look after" my kids instead. Do you fancy yourself as some sort of wanna be provo interrogator and bully ? What are you going to do, bravely sneek up behind in the middle of the night and try to shoot me and my kids in the back of the head, and hope to bury us in a bog ?

It does happen - Andreas Brevik is the name that springs to mind but there have been others too.
