I applied for HGV as I felt it'd be less of a risk. The aim is to take on 100 apprentices this year, but the majority are in Electrical. Would there be any indication on the number of HGV Apprenticeships going?

On the video it says "small number of HGV apprentices" so hard to know,maybe 10 I'd say at most,what do you mean when you say it would be less of a risk??

Hello All

Just niticed this - thankfully it seems the apprenticship is open till monday 11th, so Ill apply this weekend.

Will age be a factor do you think? Im 32 now, with a degree, I feel this will work against me somehow?

No nothing yet so far. Interviews are being held in June AFAIK.

The bulk of people they take on from what I've heard are younger people just finished or a year or two out of school. I'm sure they do take on some mature candidates though.

Thought I saw June mentioned in some online source when applying but can't seem to find it now. A friend of mine, who's applied to this several times before, also said June would be the most likely dates, considering the apprenticeships start in Autumn.

I haven't heard a word from them since before I did my aptitude test. That was in March!

I really hope they get moving on this because I'll be unavailable for the second half of June and into early July.

Got invited for an interview today, to be held mid June. They'll be sending out emails all this week as far as I know

I was confident enough that I passed it, I didn't get everything right on every section but I don't think anyone does...

More or less the same here. Hopefully did well enough though to be offered an interview.

They ring first and then email. For anyone that didnt get called yet don't give up hope. They don't call everyone at the same time. Old thread back in the electrical section from last few years if ye want to read over it.

I only got an email, though I had been somewhere with no signal so maybe they had tried to call

Still haven't received a call myself. If I get asked for an interview mid-June however I might well have to request bringing it forward to a slightly earlier date in June.

Im sure that wouldn't be a problem. On my email It says to let them know if you can attend on that date.

are you based out of portlaoise or do you travel every week?

You are based close to home depending on your address. My cousin is living 15 minutes outside nenagh and he is based in nenagh. Also my neighbours address is killaloe so he is based in limerick. You still have about a month in portlaoise during your first year

I'll I've received is an email off them a few days ago saying..

Having reviewed your application in more detail we do not feel that it would be appropriate to proceed further.

Reckon I've to try again next year to get the apprenticeship!

Did anyone also apply to the Bus Eireann HGV Apprenticeships? Just received an interview invitation and with a good flexibility of potential dates - early July to mid-July.

Congrats.. Most people I know didnt apply to this apprenticeship, only the electrician apprenticeship. So you should have a decent shot at that. I think theres 10 places for that job

The told me we wont hear from them until mid august

Thats when you find out if you got the job. the medicals are in july every year.

Hi my son has interview for Esb I just wondering if anyone who did the interview for Electrician or heavy good vehicle do their interview and another aptitude test. If they did was it all the tests or just a section of the test.

I did an interview last month but did not do another aptitude test..
