Congratulations. Have been waiting for someone to open this thread - wasn't brave enough myself. Due November 9th. Super excited but I have no symptoms yet (apart from sore boobs) so it doesn't feel real yet.

It's my second pregnancy, first was plain sailing so hoping it will be the same this time around. Booked private in the Coombe and have my first appointment on April 4th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭Zizigirl

Yay! I'm avoiding hospital for a few weeks. Lucky enough to be in midwife led care last time and it was so relaxed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭xalot

I did Domino last time as well, couldn't fault it the midwives are fantastic. When I went overdue I had to be induced to had to switch to public and had a bit of a dramatic labour resulting in an emergency section. Hoping that going private means I can schedule a section.

Is this your second pregnancy too? Have you told anyone yet? I'm struggling to keep my mouth shut!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭Zizigirl

Yes, second pregnancy, c section first birth, would love to avoid section this time. I'm also struggling to keep mouth shut! But will try not to tell anybody yet. This time feels so different to last time! Have you told anybody yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭xalot

Nope, it's my father in law's 60th the week I turn 12wks so my other half wants to make the announcement at that. I'm pretty sure by that stage everyone will have decked cos if it's anything like last time I'll be massive!

Congratulations sinead81. So exciting. Hope you are feeling well? Definitely something very special about first time pregnancies!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭sinead81

Thanks zizigirl!! I am also getting married in 7 weeks so there's a bit of panicking going on r.e. Wedding dress!!!! whoops

I cannot believe I'm joining a thread like this already, last one I was in was 'Due May 2015' although baba didn't arrive until June! 3 home tests and a test with my GP confirms baba no.2 due in November, exciting times once the initial shock wore off.

Me too! Scary and exciting, and nervous because it is such early days for now!

Hi all! Just found out last week that I'm 6 weeks gone! First timer and due on November 11th! We did plan it but we weren't expecting it to happen so fast! I am still only coming to terms with it and am feeling incredibly overwhelmed to say the least! Emotions are all over the place 😂 Haven't had any sickness/nausea yet I am waiting for it to hit me any day now!! Hopefully I can keep in touch on here as it would be good to have people to talk to who are going through the same things! 😊

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭Beanybabog

I'm praying I don't have nausea, It's the only thing I'm worried about! Trying to hide it in work and I won't be able to if I'm ill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭sinead81

Due Nov 11th too Karen! I have been feeling nauseous but omg ladies.... the boobs!!!! So so sore, I had to go buy a new bra today, gone up a cup size already. Anyone else suffer with this? Taking off my bra at the end of a day is unbearable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭Beanybabog

Mine are sore already, but aside from some cramping and a bit of tiredness I feel fairly normal... I am very early though I think. I am going to the doctor but that's all I know! I assume the doctor will refer me onto the hospital? And scans and the like?? I am thinking about doing a private scan early as I heard if there's a heartbeat the risk of miscarriage is low. Is this true? I have PCOS so apparently have up to 50% chance of miscarriage. :-(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭sinead81

I am in Dublin and I went to my doc and she gave me a letter for the hospital but I had to make the apt myself (The Coombe). I filled out a patient registration form and sent it off to them last friday so I am waiting patiently now for my letter with my apt to come from them. Thats when the ball will start rolling with the hospital I guess. I am thinking of booking in to get a private scan on my 8th week (2 weeks from now) for peace of mind, just feel quite anxious about it all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭Beanybabog

Me too Sinead. I'm anxious about morning sickness, my job, miscarriage, something going wrong.... I am having a good bit of cramps, nothing major but I don't know whats normal. Sore boobs but I think that is a good sign, nothing to worry about there! I don't "feel" pregnant, I feel like I'm getting my period!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭sinead81

Well my boobs are normally sore before a period but I have never experienced the soreness that I have now, I have had it now for nearly 3 weeks. Started before I knew I was pregnant and I was thinking 'oh period is on the way' but it got worse! I am sleeping in a sports bra with no wire to try and relieve the pain at night time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭Beanybabog

Ouch I am not that bad, but the way I'm going I might catch up. Might jump the gun and get a few sports bras myself.

How did you get into the Coombe, choice or where you live? I was thinking Holles street, can I pick??

Any idea when the first appointment is - like if I go to my doctor this week, what's my next step?

Your doc will just confirm it and give you advice. He/She will do a letter up that you hand into the coombe on your first visit. I left my doc and rang the coombe and they told me that I have to fill out a patient registration form and send it into them. Once they receive it they will send me out an apt (god knows when that is!!!) and then I go to it with the letter my doc gave me. Long winded eh?!? The coombe is nearer to me so thats why I picked there. You can decide! Pick somewhere near to you though..... think of when you are in labour! Nearer the better :)

LOL I sound like a pro.... I am only 6 weeks pregnant and a first timer! But I had to do all of that last week

To be fair you're at least a week further so you'll always be one step ahead of me at least!

Hi everyone, due November 2nd very excited, wasn't sure of my dates as I only took the implanon out in December the doctor thought I might be 9 or 12 weeks and sent the letter off to the hospital, I was expecting a letter but I got a call at 5pm yesterday to go in today for a scan. My partner couldn't get the time off so went on my own, and it turns out I'm only 7 weeks and 6 days!!!!!! I was told if I was 8 weeks that I wouldn't get another scan at 12 weeks so I'm feeling extremely lucky that I was just shy of it so now my partner won't miss out. I also saw the hearth beat and got a picture, totally made up!! Nausea is very bad until about 7pm and sore boobs all the time

Can I join?!! I think I'm pregnant too!!! We've been trying for years and never had any luck....then I got a positive this evening! Of course I didn't believe it so I went and bought 3 more tests of different brands and all positive...am in shock, don't know whether to laugh or cry with happiness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭lainycool

    Congratulations to all you ladies!
Dizzy Bee that's just lovely a huge congratulations on your long awaited bfp, Enjoy every minute :-)

I'll hop on board too, Tested positive last week, a bit of a shock but it's a pleasant surprise!

I have 2 sons already, My eldest is 3 in June and my youngest will be just gone 2 in November when baby arrives all going well.

    Busy times ahead :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭Dizzy bee

Lainycool you'll be one busy mama! Congrats to you too! How long does it take before the news actually sinks in? If all 4 of my tests are right, I think I'll be due around November 26/7!

Me too by the way- either 20th or 26th movement depending on whether they do it from last period or my suspected ovulation date

I never think it sinks in until you go for your 1st scan but I don't usually suffer morning sickness so only for some bloating nothing really changes, My appetite goes too but that hasn't happened yet!

I have had gestational diabetes on both my previous pregnancies so that's the part I won't look forward to!

I think I'm due around the 24th but will have to wait on dating scan to get a definite date as my cycle was all over the place recently!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭Dizzy bee

Beanybabog, congrats :) think I'm 4 weeks! Shock is an understatement! There were lots of tears when it flashed up pregnant...can't believe it yet!
Lainycool, I've no symptoms....in fact that's what made me test because I should have had raging pms for the last week and Nada! Hopefully I'll manage to avoid the morning sickness...fingers crossed. Also, since you've tons more experience than me, should I make app with my gp straight away or wait for a while? Don't have app with fertility specialist for another 2 months so fingers crossed, I'll be cancelling that one!

You can book an appointment with your gp whenever you like or you can print off the forms yourself from the maternity hospital and send them in yourself! I have my forms sent off so I should have my letter of appointment back sometime this week or early next week!

The last time I got my appointment was when I was 9 weeks so I didn't have long to wait although they did bring me back 2 weeks later as they couldn't date the pregnancy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭Dizzy bee

Wow you are super organised! I'll call my gp and make an app...think I need someone else to tell me as proof that it's not my imagination playing tricks on me! What hospital do you use? I'm guessing I'll be sent to wexford. I have so much to learn over the next few months! Have spent the last 8 years deliberately avoiding researching things like that and now that I need to know, I'm clueless!
If I post any stupid questions, don't laugh too hard :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭Beanybabog

I'm going to go to the doctor Friday, hopefully they'll give me some more info too! I also might get an early scan because I've pcos and have a higher rate of miscarriage, although this is my first month on metformin and I fell pregnant so I'll stay on it!

I am mega worried about morning sickness- I have issues with nausea and so I'm hoping to avoid it :-( Or at least have it mild

I also have cancel a follow up fertility appointment but I don't want to jump the gun.... I think I'll wait until my scan. It's in the NMH so I don't want to wait too long as someone will be looking the spot, but my next one if I didn't conceive was probably a referral for that tube blockage test- presumably if I'm pregnant and it's ok now my tubes can't be blocked?!! So maybe I should just cancel anyway.

When are ye planning on telling people?? Is it 10 12 or 13 weeks usually?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭Dizzy bee

Oh you're in a similar situation to me then beanybabog? I was waiting on that test too...a hsg I think? Never been on metformin but if it works :) hopefully the morning sickness will pass you by...one of my friends was terrified of being sick so put off getting pregnant for years...got pregnant, not even a whisper of morning sickness for her! She claims it was sheer will power that kept it away :)
Oh and I know I should wait til 12 weeks to tell anyone but I don't know if I'll be able to keep my mouth shut that long! Will see what the hubby wants and negotiate.

Well get me her tips!! I've already got sickness bags, wrist bands, sweets, snacks.., even though I'm eating like a horse and feeling perfectly fine!

I read that once a heartbeat is detected on a scan MC rate is like 5%.... I think the 12 week thing might be because people tend to have a scan then but I'm not sure.

How are you feeling? I'm grand, a bit crampy and sore boobs but nothing major- feels like I have pms that just won't leave!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭Dizzy bee

I feel fine! No sore boobs, no nausea, nothing....I keep running to the loo every 5 minutes because I'm convinced af has arrived and the pregnancy test got it wrong! Only thing that's different for me is ive found it difficult to sleep the last few nights and that is not like me at all, normally out like a light! I'm actually a little worried about the complete lack of symptoms! Maybe it'd be more real if there was some sign of it. She said it was just pure will power, every time she felt even a tiny bit sick, she'd tell herself that she was imagining it and it wasn't real..mind over matter so to speak, that and she ate everything in front of her for months! She must have been one of the lucky ones...maybe we will be too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭Beanybabog

I was really tired the first couple of days and thought it was the "fatigue" kicking in- it wasn't. The shock and a few restless nights caused it, now I've come to terms with it and go to bed on time and sleep I'm fine.

It's bound to play in your mind at night even if you're a good sleeper but once you're not too anxious I reckon it'll wear off

I didn't even know then! In fact I had written this month off as a no hoper because I was convinced I hadn't even ovulated...then today when af was still not showing, I thought I better do a test to confirm I wasn't so I could get the doc to record an anovulatory cycle...imagine the pure shock when pregnant popped up on the screen :) best surprise ever! Have you told anyone yet? Or will you wait til after early scan? Just think, if all goes well (fingers crossed!) we could both have babas for Christmas!

Girls seriously I cannot begin to imagine that I will have a baba for Christmas!!!! Please god obviously! I am 7 weeks this Saturday and thinking of telling our parents and my best friend. Finding it so hard to not tell them! Hoping to get my apt date from the Coombe this week to make it feel a bit more real

Sinead81, I don't know how I'm gonna keep it quiet at all....I'm literally going from staring at the tests in disbelief to bouncing off the walls in excitement! It's gonna be a long few weeks...how have you found the last few weeks? Any symptoms?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭sinead81

Hi dizzy bee..... Sore boobs has been my major symptom!!! I had to buy a bandeau top in Penneys today just to sleep in. The pain at night if I move around is unbearable! I went to the chemist today and asked was there anything I could take and she said no and it should pass at 12 weeks. I have booked an early scan for next week, I know I will only be 8 weeks but it's just for some sort of peace of mind. I'm also getting married in May so it's not ideal drink wise but we are delighted, an absolute blessing x

I told two friends- I figure i would tell them if something went wrong anyway. Holding off for the rest! I don't feel pregnant either.

I'm going to do the early scan too, can't wait!!

Aw double congrats are in order then! 2016 will be an amazing year for you then....and dont worry about the drink, no one will notice that you're not drinking and if they do you can say you want to remember every second of your big day without being tipsy

Did you book it? If you pay online you save a few bob! They won't accept you any earlier than 8 weeks because if I could I would've gone today! So exciting.

Joining too! Very early days, I'm due on the 20th. This will be my second baby, my little baba here is 9 months. Very excited. No major symptoms yet, just very tired and some cramping. I had a very easy pregnancy last time so hoping for the same this time. Also on metformin for pcos.. Planning on having an early scan in a couple of weeks time, looking forward to that!

Congrats Mindy76! Fingers crossed the pregnancy is a breeze for you :) do you see much at an early scan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Mindy76

I guess it depends on where you go and quality of the machine. At my early scan last time we got a definite outline of baba and seen the heartbeat! It was a transvaginal scan, you tend to get better view/images. The place we went to gave us two photos and a dvd too so we got to look at the heartbeat afterwards too.

Where's this? I went to a private scan clinic place (that's all they do) for my pcos scans and I'm sure it says online you can scan from 6 weeks??

Are any of you doing the harmony or panorama tests? Have you priced them? Have you picked your hospital??? Fingers crossed all goes well I'll go to holles street. Heard good and bad things about them all and everyone I know who had a baby recently thinks holles st/colbe/rotunda ie where ever they went is best!! So I'll just pick the handiest one for me I can walk to work from appointments
