"The Irish Beer and Whiskey Village is Dublin's premier event offering visitors the best of Irish beer, live music, artisan food, and so much more! Come and celebrate St Patrick's Week 2016 in the RDS, Dublin 4."

    www.irishbeerandwhiskeyfestival.com

    ?format=400w

    €10 entry. Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th, Friday 18th, Saturday 19th.

Certainly looks like it's worth a gander. Will probably head on Wednesday or Friday. Anybody know what it was like previous years?

It's a bit like the September festival was in the early years: a big hall, not so many stands and relatively quiet during the day.

Very good. Seems that it might be something of a diet version of the Sept fest alright. Few great brewers there none the less.

Last year it appeared to be the place to be for American college students from across the EU that decend on Dublin for "European spring brake"

The open gate Brewery is their craft arm, but still pouring a range of uncle Arthurs

    No longer all "Irish" though.

Well one could argue that the September one isn't either given the Lagunitas being sold. I wouldn't be too hung up about it though.

What was this like on the St Patrick’s Day last year? I'm thinking of heading out after the parade

Nah I know I was just being facetious, but it'll be a shame if people are walking round with pints of Guinness. The great thing about festivals is it forces drinkers to try something new when their usual isn't available.

As a naive fool an optimist, I'd have thought they'd only bring the Open Gate specials. Also, how many pints of Guinness did you notice being supped at the Killarney Beer Festival last year?

Anyone comment on what the prices were like? I thought about going but to quote Turkish, I didnt want my pants pulled down over the price.

1x Token is €2.50 which is a half pint. Anything above 10% ABV is 2/3 glass however.

It was anything about 7% on Wednesday evening - you sure about that 10% threshold?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 11,975 Mod ✭✭✭✭BeerNut

Yeah, it's 7%. I was there all day yesterday and really enjoyed it.

Prices seem to be basically the same as the other festivals (bar Septembers one where the bigger glass got you more at 95% of stands) so nothing horrific there

Intending to go in tomorrow early afternoon, hopefully it won't be as heaving as the September one was by that time (of course, it will be, being this weekend!)

Do you get any tokens with your admission fee or they are extra?

Tipping in tomorrow all going well.
Is it a pint glass this year or half pint glass?
It's nice to have the option of a pint for 2 tokens.

You're given a pint glass on admission with measurements along the side. ;)

Trouble's Milk Stout, if you've not found it already, is excellent. Rascal's has a really interesting wine-barrel version of Big Hop Red too. Those were my standouts.

    A lovely beer.

Was available on draught in the Swagman, Sligo.

I think 4e for half pint.

Highlights for me are White Hag 'Coffee Rocket' and the Coisbo/Trouble Brewing colab 'Milk Stout'.

Some disgraceful carryon there with the Guinness Open Gate stand.

Friend of mine works for Trouble, says there's a rumour that some breweries pulled out when they heard Guinness would be there. Could be nonsense of course.

White Hag's Black Boar the highlight for me. Wasn't a fan of Trouble's Milk Stout, bit too sickly sweet.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

That's a disgrace. I'd love to give whoever did that a swift kick where the sun doesn't shine.

Whatever about Guinness' involvement if you don't like it, vote with your feet and tokens.

Wonder was it the same people as the Mcgargles sticker campaign a while back.

Apparently it's ok to call people cuntbags cause it's only chalk.

Tbh his attitude would put me off buying any of his beers. I doubt he'd be so OK with it only being chalk if it was done to his stand.

I don't think any of us think he'd be stupid enough to actually do it.

I just think it's bad form to agree with vandalism and abusive behaviour regardless of who it's targeted at.

If you're a brewer, don't attend or have a stand, if you're a consumer use your tokens on breweries that you'd prefer. These are much better ways to show your disagreement with a particular brewery being there.

If I called someone a cuntbag here I'd probably get site banned.

I want to know who the 10 year old craft beer head is. I wonder does he wear a fake beard?
Cuntbags and a drawing of cock and balls, complete with spurt!
People are actually taking this seriously?
