    Long bath?

    A drink?

    Sex?

Two of the above options aren't open to me right now, and I'm a ball of anxiety/stress.

    What do you guys do?

Sometimes I just take a couple of Nurofen Plus and then watch some awful television shows while drinking tea and eating Cocoa Pops.

Everyone's gonna think I'm taking the piss now..

I smother myself in baby oil, stand in the hotpress and pretend that I'm back in the womb.

I like all of the items on the list. They can even be in any order, although it's good if some strong red wine is near the beginning. One may also include a firm massage and a good long sleep. Aaaaah!

    (and tomorrow will be better)

Retire to the man cave for a spliff, beer & some mellow tunes.

Either a cup of tea and a few squares of dark chocolate, or a glass of rosé wine.

Stick on a boxset, preferably with some treats.

Go for a spin on the bike or long walk in the countryside if the weather is good.

Stick on a big fire, a good book, nice glass of red.

Often the most effective thing I can do for anxiety or stress is get in the swimming pool and swim laps until I'm so exhausted I can't think.

If that's not an option, I find a book that can help distract me or binge on a tv show or movies.

    I feel for you. :)

I have a good chat with herself. Never fails.

Read a book (well - an eBook).

I almost go online by default, but then it's searching for interesting things, moving through topics, getting bored or else too awake. A good book can just take you out of real-life thinking zone.

    Swinging

OMG this is so true. Going on swings in the playground would totally destress me!

If it's stress in work, I love coming home to warm pjs, either out of the drier or left on the radiator. Have a nice shower to wash the day off. Take my time with lots of nice body moisturiser. Into clean underwear, warm pjs and fluffy socks. Back downstairs for cuddles on the couch and Netflix, no lights on, just a nice candle and the glare of the tv. Sometimes I'll have a glass of wine, sometimes I won't bother. That's my favourite way to end the day.

Bottle of wine and laptop..wishing horrible things on whoever ruined my day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,583 ✭✭✭LeBash

Porn and knock several out. A bad day is about 5 over the course of an evening. A really good day usually ends the same way. An OK way I'd fire off about 3 live rounds.

Basically, never sit down on the furniture in my place.

If it's a tough day mentally because of work or whatever - I generally find hitting the gym or going for a run to be the best thing I can do to clear the head. Getting some adrenaline going seems to just clear the head. I'd imagine swimming or something would be good also.

If it's a tough day psychically - couple of glasses of red wine or a few nice beers and watch Netflix or read something.

If the weather is ok, I might walk home from work, or go for a cycle. I used to play handball which was an amazing way to relieve stress.

If you're not drinking alcohol or the weather is not good for exercise, I'd agree with the posters above. A bit of manual relief works a charm

I like to watch some casting couch auditions.

A drink. Went to the supermarket for a nice bottle of wine, thinking I'd treat myself after a tough couple of days, but I just opened it now and the sodding cork fell to bits. So now I'm fishing bits of cork out of my very weird tasting Rioja, having tried and failed to sieve it. Still drinking it though.

Beer/whiskey or two, combined with a book, some music, or some of David Attenborough's nature programmes.

On the drive home I will alternate between loud singing and replaying arguments in my head. Maybe some crying.*

Then when I get home I'll lash into the junk food and rewatch a favourite tv show.

*My drive home is on country back roads. I wouldn't recommend this if you commute in traffic. I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you use public transport - that has a way of making a bad day get much, much worse.

    but effective.

    I have quite the arsenal.

If it's been a very mentally draining day then I need to be by myself. I put on my favourite jammies and get in to bed. I'll watch a gritty and grim crime series. Most people would be reaching for the comedy but not me. I want to feel those bad boy feelings dammit.

There will also be food. Something warm that reminds me of childhood like a big bowl of creamy mash or fish finger sandwiches or maybe not so warm and then it will be a whole tub of Ben and Jerry's. Before sleep it will be about 20 minutes of concentrating on my breath while listening to the beautiful voice of Ane Brun.

I like those ASMR videos. Haircuts, eye exams, roleplay situations. The whispering is what does it for me. Some of it sends shivers down your spine.

Go for a nice walk. Nothing better than some fresh air and nice views to clear your head. Then head home, make a good dinner and watch some tv.

That or curl up in a ball in bed thinking about the things that need to be done that I have no intention of doing anytime soon.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,158 ✭✭✭thattequilagirl

I had a bath, put on a face mask and watched some comedy.

It worked perfectly- I slept perfectly and woke up in much better form.

In recent times I like getting out for a run with some decent music on the go. I get exercise, I get air in my lungs and takes my mind off the day, or at least threash out in my head what happened that day. It's all gone by the time I've finished running.
The shower afterwards and melting into the couch feels glorious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,302 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

    Shower
    Hop into lazy clothes
    Watch tv with the pooch
    A nice beer or two.

    Golf, unless it's dark.

If it's dark then watching movies usually works.
