    Not even in top 10...

Nothing comes near Mount Leinster, I've done quite a few of top 20. You start the private road after a pretty normal Irish 400m climb and climb the next 345m in 2.6km at 13.4% average. It's horrible.

    Average gradient and then length.

I think he was responding to my post, which seems to have disappeared, asking what his criteria for the steepest climb, i.e. did the OP want a climb with the steepest section, regardless of length, or a climb that wasn't necessarily short and had the highest average gradient.

Thanks! That puts everything into perspective.

It's all pretty subjective, even if you disccount the fact you wn't have same level of fitness, freshness etc when you do them all. The list is intersting though for comparison.

Steep ramps suit some guys, good power/weight ratio but maybe not strong enough for longer climbs and get fatigued.

18 & 17 on list are almost identical in difficulty rating, Shanrahan is a pretty steady long 8% climb, Ticincor & Powers the Pot is a section of horrible ramps with section to recover. Two different types of cyclist may have very different impressions of both.

Mt Leinster has no let up. I'd rather do hill repeats on some Alpine mountain pass than do it again; I did have 130km done before I turned up it almost completely fasted though( an apple at 120km from memory):) Might try it with some sugar some day
