Sorry I know this has been done over and over. I got a call for an interview for next week and they have emailed me to let me know that I need to bring 2 written references dated within the last 4 months PLUS the names and numbers of 2 verbal references. I worked for my last employer for nearly 10 years and the few jobs I had before that were with companies that are gone now and I couldn't tell you the names and numbers of the old bosses or anyone I worked with. I don't know any guards or priests. I'm 30 years old ffs, doesn't the fact that I was in my last job for so long demonstrate that I am reliable etc? It's only a part time job that doesn't require a huge amount of skill anyways. Where am I going to pull these references out of???

Other colleagues from your last job, or jobs before that - look people up on LinkedIn if you've not been bothered to keep in touch.

Other options include contacts from any sporting, musical or whatever hobby organisations, voluntary work, or even just friends if it comes to it.
