Doesn't matter. They are intended to be usable whenever you want to start it for the rest of the year.

Can you buy this card from any shops? Or train stations, or vending machines?

Interesting that it classifies a child as someone up to age 18 before they turn 19 but Irish Rail classify a child as being under 16 years of age, would there be an issue using it for kids aged 16-18 on Irish Rail?

    Children Travelling on Intercity Services

Who is eligible for this ticket?

Customers under 16 years of age

Thanks so much Op.... family of 5 going to Dublin for a weekend.....we were planning on using the public transport so this is a great find. :):):):):)

This works on the bus eireann red routes(out as far as cellbridge) too so a fantastic deal. The trip from these towns to Dublin city alone are normally €7.60 return per adult so for a family and unlimited travel withindublin that's a huge saving

How long do these take to arrive? Need one for next weekend but feel like I might be taking a risk if they're slow getting them out?

Its up to 4 children, but not necessary. Neither is 2 adults. But thats when you get the value out of it. Daily cap on 1 adult is 10 euro on mixed usage in Dublin.

Got a couple of these, used one but don't know which, doh! At the station is there a way of checking the valid one before travelling?

Ticket machine (not validator) should indicate previous usage and loaded tickets.

Alternatively if you have a NFC enabled android phone download the Leap app.

    Leapcard-Newbie question!
Can you use this card on a bus eirean ride, then get on Luas, then Dublin bus, then Dart, etc... all in the one 24 hours?
Or can you only use it one (any one) of them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

Just hold it up to the ticket machine or...?

Just beside the touchscreen there is a card holder where you put the card to top it up. Pop it in there and it will bring up the details

You can mix and match to your heart's content.

For Dublin Bus, Luas & Dart there are daily caps to your fare, max €10.
Bus Eireann will be extra on top of that, I think.

Not for this particular card which is what the thread is all about.

You could start off in Dublin Airport, get 6 of you (2 adults and 4 children) into the city centre, then Luas to Cherrywood, bus to Dun Laoghaire, Dart to Bray. Bus back into town, Nitelink home etc etc with no additional payment. It really is brilliant value.

I have some foreign visitors coming in 10 days. Can I buy them two of these cards but pay for them in my name? Is the card linked to the purchasers name?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,606 ✭✭✭schemingbohemia

You can buy them (if there are any left). Not linked to any name, no registration required.
