Just curious. I noticed a triangle symbol on the north bound M50 exit signs for N3 and Castlenock. I presume it's for a alternative route or something similar like the diamond that used to be on the M7/N8 before Abeyleix was bypassed. Does anyone know what exactly it's for?

It's part of a new trial under the auspices of Infrastructure Ireland regarding diversionary routes to be taken if/when an M route is closed.

I expect further publicity measures will be undertaken in due course.

Some further information is available via the UK Road Traffic Signs websites....

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Ah I was thinking it was relatively new. Thanks for that.
