So, what phobia do you have? Are you frightened of spiders, rats, snakes or heights?

I have a phobia of sheer drops, like cliffs.

Heights, spiders and having to be social

Edit also afraid of the dark

I don't like dirt or spiders or rodents, and certain smells would be high on my list of things to avoid. I'd be very conscientious in avoiding those things.

Phobias are major psychological issues, so I wouldn't describe my aversions as phobias.

Not a big fan of house spiders. Others don't bother me much.

Taxiing and taking off in an aeroplane, always get sweaty palms and have to take a deep breath or two...but I actually like the rest of the flight and love approaching and landing...so it's not a fear of flying per se.

Why do so many Irish people have a fear of snakes and spiders whenever we don't have any snakes and the spiders we do have aren't venomous.

    Why???????

They have 8 legs. And I've came across spiders that have been aggressive when I tried to shoo them away

Does anyone have a phobia of small, irregular shaped holes in a random pattern? Apparently it's quite a common phobia.

    No phobias here.

I think some people regard things they simply don't like as phobias, phobias are rare extreme irrational fears are they not?

I don't like sour milk or rats, but I wouldn't call either one a phobia

I don't get the fear of snakes...but then I do like me a reptile.

However, our house spiders are ****ing horrible things. I have lived in South America, seen some funky things, but house spiders here are ****ing creepy things...make my skin crawl.

Here, there's nothing irrational about being scared of fish. One of these days they'll learn to walk and then they're going to come and get me

Acrophobia (the posh way of saying fear of heights). I actually used to love climbing as high as I could up trees but even thinking back on that turns my stomach... Bridges are a fúckin nightmare.

Hmmm euphemism or serious question, I have no idea....

But no, just the chips would do me grand. A spud never grew up to be Jaws and bite your legs off.

(Actually, I'm not particularly scared of sharks, but throw me a salmon and I'll freak)

This one. THIS ONE is what my nightmares are made of. In Australia, the homeland of animals that want to kill you, naturally enough.

Other than social situations, no phobias here. I wouldn't be terribly fond of rats (of the wild variety), but that's just a rational fear of all the diseases they can carry. Although I read a really interesting article about them once in the London Review of Books, and - gross as they undoubtedly are - I can't help but find their intelligence and adaptability kind of endearing.

    Horses.

And it's a completely irrational fear, because I think they're a beautiful animal, but even to see them in paintings unnerves me, and if I'm within the vicinity of a horse or horses, I'm able to control it so I don't look like I'm losing it, but I can feel myself breaking out in sweats and just wanting to get the hell out of there!

Didn't know there was a name for it -
