Where Are You Off To On Holidays This Year?

I cut my own hair so never get a chance to answer this in the haircut shop.

I'm going to Jersey in February (meant to book Jersey City but too much Tennent's :o), somewhere in mid Europe in May, haven't decided yet, and Vegas in November.

Where are you off to? And if you're staycationing, what other questions that that the haircutter asks would you like to share here?

Don't know. Nothing booked. Went on a few holidays last year (5 :o ) so might try save a bit instead of spending too much money on holidays. A good friend of mine is getting married in Sri Lanka in December, which I would love to go to! Don't think I'll be able to get the time off work though.

Skiing in France in February, UK in March, Denmark in April. Haven't booked any proper holidays yet though, I'm thinking Australia later in the year to visit a friend I have living out there. Failing that, might meet them in Indonesia or something.

Have you ever been there? I've never met anyone who's been to Sri Lanka. It's the Leitrim of the subcontinent isn't it?

Somewhere within 2 hours of home. Prob West Cork. Maybe weekend or two in England.

    Cork.

And unlike the rest of ye, it'll cost me pushing five grand to do it with the airfare and house rental. Feckin airlines and their taxes...

Vegas must be the worst place to go visit for work isn't it? Was chatting up this young wan that works for Allegiant the last time I was over, all going grand til she announced she had to go to bed. . .at 10pm :(

Nope. It seems to be an up and coming holiday destination though! I know two people that went there last year on their holidays :pac: I don't think I know anyone that's ever been to Leitrim.

I play poker to earn a few bob extra so that's why I called it a working holiday. It really is only a holiday

Nothing planned yet, though there's talk of a possible jaunt to New York in October provided my aunt ever gets around to renewing her damn passport. I'm not optimistic, though. Still, my summer is set- got Comic Con in August!

Heading to Blackpool in August with the wife and son. Was planning on New York too but I need to overcome my fear of flying first, seriously

Just been myself, was nice to take a sunny break during festive season, 28th Dec to January 11th, started in Malaga onto Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Guadix, Granada and back to Malaga and for the last four days Marbella, San Pedro and Ojen Village on the Sunday. Gorgeous weather, food and drink and tobacco is cheaper and you can get absinthe at a reasonable price and good stuff too.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Those were the days! I'd love another go on the space roundup or the go carts. Then candy floss with added wasps for crunch factor and tears!

Nothing booked yet but San Antonio and Austin Texas is on the list.

    Granada and Cordoba

    Bilbao and San Sebastian

And a talk with my overdraft manager!

I did those storm-chasing tours in the Mid-West US for about 7 years, but it eventually got too dangerous plus the 12 hrs. of flying to get to Oklahoma City and back was a killer.

Now, it's a week in the Canaries in April and again maybe September......sun, cheap liquor and food.

I've been there after uni for a couple of months for backpacking (without a backpack, hate those yokes).

And no, it's not the Leitrim of anything! It's a tiny paradise with loads of different cultures (and conflicts), different sceneries and climates and highly interesting history and people, if you bother to get to know them and don't stick with the European crowd and don't follow Lonely Planet. I've had one of the most interesting times of my life over there.

Otherwise I haven't been on holidays since 2005, but I live in a beautiful country where other people love to spend their holidays (Ireland) and end of this year I'm off my mortgage. After that the universe is the limit!

First weekend in February I'll go to Galway, kind of a "city break". Not exactly Sri Lanka but close, considering monsoon-like rain :D

Portugal somewhere in July for the family holiday, and Silverstone in the UK for the MotoGp in September with the lads.

    No holiday plans yet.

Got my hair done today. The whole experience was sh1t for several reasons, not least being made wait half an hour past my appointment time.

Stylist seemed very disinterested generally. Was happy to not get questioned. But her attempt was a mediocre 'So, you up to anything later?' Me, 'not really, no, just the usual'. So that killed that conversation... Poor effort.

Since my son is doing his leaving cert in June I won't be heading anywhere until after it and the Stone Roses and Pixies gigs. Nothing planned yet but if get my house sold, I might go exploring in Asia to check out places to move to next January, although it will probably be Japan.

Aw its all pie in the sky at the moment. I just know I don't want to stay in Ireland on my own when my baby goes to College so I am gonna head off and explore the world, probably starting in Japan.

I work as a freelance writer so can work anywhere in the world but will probably teach English to supplement my income.

Also looking at housesitting in a few places to reduce the costs of moving about.

Vegas in less than two months to get hitched and Colorado to visit husbands family and relax. I'm gonna get so high in the mountains! :pac:

Then hopefully Oktoberfest in September if we can get reasonable accommodation.

Probably a trip to London at some point too.

I have the opportunity to spend the day in Boston but what is there to do other than eat a lobster roll?

I would love to fit one of these in this year but don't think it's going to happen.

European city break in Spring, the US in Autumn. Hopefully I'll get a stop on the East and West coast.

Holiday? Not in my range of activities! trying to remember the last time I spent even a night away... does hospital count? Seriously. not well enough to be away and have no desire to travel. and no money! I have days out combining shopping with sightseeing and that is enough and travel the world here online without the hassle or expense. I am happy!
