going to be made homeless

Hi all.
I have to leave my current accom. on this Friday morning.A new owner is taking over the premises and they want vacant possession,proper notice were given by the current landlord.
I have scoured my area(even looked outside of it) but i can't find anywhere within my price range.
How do i declare myself homeless to the local authority and what can i expect if i do? I have been on the social housing list with them for 8 years.I'm currently studying and this upheaval has set me back a bit,i just want to get somewhere and get settled back properly to the books.Currently on btea

ps,i have no family or friends in the area to fall back on.

To declare yourself homeless, usually you go along to the council office where you submitted your social housing application, go to the public counter, and ask to speak to someone about registering as homeless. Explain the situation you're in and they will help you.

Ideally go as soon as you can, and as early in the day as you can manage, as it takes time to process the paperwork and make arrangements.

Then he or she will see what he or she can do for you as far as getting you some emergency accommodation goes. Some things that you'll probably be asked if if you've looked for a place further out from where you are now, and if you've considered sharing a place, as it sounds as though you've only looked for one bedroom places. If you have family/friends elsewhere and can move to their area, you might want to consider that, but it depends on your situation, of course.

I was given an extra few days by the landlord so now Thursday is deadline day and i'll follow up on what you've said above.
I have looked at shares but that can be very frustrating as most who get back to me only want "young professionals" and also a lot of unanswered calls,texts and e-mails mixed with that.
I'd rather not go to the extreme of going to the CoCo. but i have honestly exhausted every other avenue.The family/friends route is a non-runner also.
