Why are 98fm putting.so many 20 something ex Iradio and Spin DJs on the air ? Isn't the licence for older listeners aged 25=45 ?

Ha! Steven may dress and act like a 20 something but he's bordering on ageing disgracefully at 41. No doubt he'll be delighted with your comment Mr Sea Wolf.

Best of luck to Steven and Luke.

Any confirmation... Why would Steven Cooper move back to a station like 98FM? I would have thought his next move was a national station. He's got a good partnership going on iRadio with Oonagh with more listeners and a wider audience reach than 98FM.

I've heard him a few times on iRadio. Unbearable. And this thing where he, his annoying side kick, and even callers refer to him as "Cooper" is particularly cringeworthy.

But I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought Fergal Darcy was a dose on iRadio too but he sounds refreshing on Today FM.

IRadio obviously aim at the lowest common denominator, under 25's audience and maybe Darcy (and now "Cooper") are tired of it.

Anyone think this Ladyball wind up that went viral today has anything to do with the new show? Dublin footballer endorsement on the fake product and widespread coverage...would be an excellent way to announce themselves...

I agree, he is dreadful. 98fm walking into another mistake...who makes th decisions in there?

Has this been confirmed by 98fm? Because there's been no official press release on it yet just a lot of speculation.

If he was to be making the jump would he not be off air on iradio yet? I can't see it happening, he wouldn't suit 98fm breakfast at all imo.

Maybe Dave O'Connor is coming back from America to host it. Although if people think Steven Cooper is bad, god knows what yous think of Dave O'Connor 😂😂

Pretty much confirmed this afternoon. Luke's Snapchat story is video of the two of them doing an official photoshoot.

Cooper was on air on 98 today. Seems a dead cert now. Still gets a mention on the iradio website

He's just announced on iRadio that he's finishing on Friday.

Wonder who'll take over the IRadio breakfast show? There's been an awful lot of changes there in the past while.

The wages must be poor. It's the only reason I see why he's coming back to the pale.

It'll be great to hear Cooper back on 98FM. Just wondering, what will it mean for Cooper's Club Collection will that be on 98FM too?

Probably will make a comeback, pity he'll be stuck playing the coronas and kodaline every morning though.

So 98FM's excellent marketing strategy strikes again...98FM's Big Breakfast starts Monday and nobody has been told or has a clue what it is. While it makes sense to start it on the week Code Red starts, would have thought they would announce it a week or two before to get a bit of hype and publicity...

Completely agree. I think any listeners that they still had at breakfast were those who liked Foley...can't see them taking to Cooper and O'Faolin so could shed more over the next 6 months. Also putting two people who have not been on air together before in and expecting chemistry and success is a big gamble...especially since there is a decent age gap between them...

Also HATE the new on air imaging 98FM rolled out this week, just irritating.

I think 98fm should have poached Rick O Shea for breakfast.

Official announcement at 7pm on a Friday evening...yeah...

Sounds like they are going to be very music focused and hyper...

I tend to a agree. If they thought the ratings with Foley wasn't good...I've a feeling we ain't seen the worst..

I'm not sure what 98fm is anymore!

I'm with you there, is sounds very irritating and a bit too retro for my ears. Is it a re-sing?

I have a feeling it will be another bad year for 98, possibly dropping below a 6% share in Dublin once again. Very poor output.

The jingles sound good. Anyone know which company made them?

Cooper will work on breakfast. Haven't heard much of Luke but he's done well on other stations. It'll take some time to recover from Foley's figures though.

I can't stand the new imaging either, it sounds too much like FM104.

Yeah its just all a bit Q102-ish and doesn't really fit with the station...but god knows what that is meant to sound like nowadays.

I agree, I don't see 98FM being able to stop the slide unless 104 implodes.

As for "recovering from Foley's figures" the whole stations figures are a disaster and have been for the last 5/7 years+. Way off where they need to be and don't see this change having much of a positive impact. You will have a hyper and irritating breakfast show leading into Dublin Talks and people threatening to kill people, then Barry Dunne with four hours of strictly playlisted music into Quilty and then Brian Maher. From 10am to 4pm doesn't really fit...yet that is where the station is preforming most competitively with their Dublin rivals.
