John cena is having shoulder surgery tomorrow and looks like he will miss wrestlemania. There goes taker cena then. This wrestlemania season is looking bad. They've a 100,000 stadium to fill and now it looks like cena won't be there ? Lol

jaysus, was just reading an article on this
It would appear Cena’s injury occurred sometime over the last several weeks, although exactly when has not been confirmed.

    never getting time off again.

Ohhhh so it happened on his time off ? Oh dear. I'd pay cash money to see Vince and trips reaction to this news.

On a side note, was looking for tickets to wrestlemania earlier on out of curiosity and it appears all the tickets besides the ones that cost around $10,000 are sold out already?

I've just seen it said that its a torn rotator cuff. Thats mania done then. Not a hope.

Jeez this last 6 months has been horrible for injuries. I'm not sure what this means for mania.

Yeah that's a six month job at least. Reigns to have five matches at Mania?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

It's Cena, he'll tape up his shoulder and plough on.

3 hour Ironman match with an hour video package beforehand. Of course that would mean pushing someone else and they wouldn't want to do that.
So a 4 hour gauntlet match with a 30 min break during it while Taker makes his entrance.

Seriously though, I would say about how it gives someone else a chance to step up, but sure Cena's been of and all they did with that time is push Reigns even more. Also the fact that others that could step up are injured as well like Cesaro. And as HHH said previously, bringing guys up from NXT to fill the void isn't a good idea because then he needs something for them when Cena or whoever comes back.

Explains why he was back suddenly and then gone as quick.

Its a blow to Mania, but one they should have had backup plans for. It's their fault that they don't have anyone as big a name as active on the roster.

They could always use this injury (and others) to position and push guys like Cesaro, Owens, Finn etc to be viable top level guys.

Or have the Rock fight Sting.

Wouldn't be shocked to see them re position Owens so as to have this match unless they already have big plans (like Brock big) for him at Mania as he is one of the few non massive stars I believe they would have a lot of faith in and be willing to push.

That said the more I think about it I would love if they used this injury as a reason to debut Finn a little earlier on the main roster. We have talked about it previously on boards how Finn and his Demon character could work very well in a feud with say Wyatt so why not Taker? He isn't really going to get too many other chances to face the deadman and if it was actually to be Undertakers last match imagine the rub that would go along with being the guy that retired him. Have taker hand pick him as the best young star in the industry as the man he wants to face in his final match.

It really is such a pity that Cesaro got injured too, you would imagine that with all the injuries recently (Orton, Bryan, Rollins, Sting, Cena) he would have been a prime candidate for a much deserved push.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

    When is Cesaro due back?

I wonder would they take a gamble with Daniel Bryan (I hope not for his sake) or would they throw AJ and Nakamura in the mix if they can compete by Mania?

It could be a long term blessing in disguise, it may force their hand to properly push some younger talent.

    Sting is injured as well!

its actually crazy the injuries over the last 6 months - but it shows the lack of decent writing over the last year or 2 that no viable main eventers are ready!

We have had 2 months without cena already and its just been all reigns - and reigns reign will continue which really doesnt excite me for the next 6 months! If I was trips and considering using Finn - i would bring him in with Bullet Club - and do invasion style - i know its been done but its proven... at least after the heat of Bullet Club dies down Finn can bring out Demon Ballor to put him over as a huge face!

Never thought id say it but Cenas loss is bad for viewers

    List of Injured Stars
    John Cena
    Seth Rollins
    Cessaro
    Daniel Bryan
    Randy Orton
    Sting
    Tyson Kidd
    Sin Cara
    Konnor

5 of which would be considered Main Eventers - madness!!

Don't want to see the guy injured but I had no interest in Cena vs Taker with the streak not on the line.

They're doing the surprise Cena return angle again aren't they.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

They fully deserve to be in this position with their over reliance on a select few and part timers in recent years. I'd say this will teach them a lesson but we all know normal business will be resumed as soon as possible.

As for Wrestlemania, the card doesn't matter. It sells itself.

I wonder will huge money to be thrown at Goldberg to come in as a big name replacement.

I think Cena trying to break his own lifting record last month I wonder did he do it then.

    Wow, this is a disaster.

Again and again their lack of long term plans, 50-50 booking is biting them in the ass.

They literally have Roman Reigns who isn't over anywhere close to the level he should and needs to be at, some part timers and a roster full of geeks for WM now.

Well ****ing done you idiots. Reap what you sow.

Every champion that came out of WrestleMania 31 is injured

Goldberg, while may be a draw, he hasnt wrestled in 12 years properly to my knowledge and I cant imagine him being in great in-ring shape.

Id be against him in a prominent position.

Let's be honest when was the last time Vince cared about what happened inside the ring:mad:

WM is all about name value not about ring talent.

I would imagine he wouldn't need long to get in shape to do a spear, jackhammer, and pin, to be fair, thats all the crowd want from him

Edit: Ring shape that is, he still looks in good shape physically

At this rate vince might have to throw millions at HBK to come back, i also wouldnt be suprised if bryan gets cleared all of a sudden. The lack of major stars right now must be the lowest its ever been but its mostly there own fault for not making new stars

We can definitely rule out a HBK come back, no chance in hell he'll go back on his word.

It's a big blow no doubt but I don't know why people think there will be a massive panic and they will turn to the likes of HBK etc. They have a big talent pool in NXT to choose from which is ready to go and there is an event coming up that is ideal for making a new star.

If you're a Balor fan you have to see a lot of positives in this news. This could be the stars aligning for him.

My only fear is that HHH will go to Vince and ask that he be given the title because the brand needs his star power. No doubt ten years ago he would have done this. I think it's a possibility.

I'm surprised Triple H hasn't done it yet to be honest. Maybe not as champion but definitely as challenger.

I think everybody is forgetting about one individual who is still healthy and can make a Big Show feel big :pac:

I think that people think that there might be a panic because whatever you might think of cena as a character, it was always a case of if in doubt go to cena. He was the safe pair of hands. That safe pair of hands is now not there.

Balor to debute and go full demon mode for WM; calling it now with some epic promotions about channeling his inner demon etc. He'd also give the Undertaker a good match to go out on and work around his limitations and after his loss at WM call up the Bullet Club to support him as a faction as he seeks revenge at Summerslam.

I'd be shocked if they get Balor over enough to face Taker at Mania at this moment in time. I rate the guy, but do the majority of the E fanbase rate him and are they prepared to strap the rocket to him?

I think its quite likely that Bryan may get cleared now.

Win RR; build up the hottest indie wrestler who's taken on everyone in every circuit around the world, do video clips how the other stars (HHH, DB etc. raise him to the skies), clips of NXT domination etc. and how here's here to take the scalp of Undertaker and I can think you could build a match for WM. With the streak gone there's not as much "omg will he make it" moment anymore (if the streak was still there it would be a no go) and you can go full brass on the body paint at RR, another at WM to really hype it and build a good entrance and match. It's not going to be the year long pay off but him winning RR, Undertaker doing his "I'm the only Undead Superpower" stare down etc. and I can see it work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Here's a radical thought: have Balor win the match.

Have HHH be at ringside for the final stages of the rumble match. Reigns eliminates all his rivals right before the final entrant is revealed. Reigns looks at Hunter and is defiant but HHH smiles. Then the lights go out. They com back on and you have some guys standing there in Shield-style dress and they are wearing masks. They put a beating on Reigns as HHH looks on from outside. Then they undo their masks and lo and behold it's his old mates from Japan. They pull off the black Shield vest and reveal Balor club shirts as the smart fans are going apesh*t. Then HHH gets a mic and announces the final entrant to the Rumble as they all point to the ramp - and the demon appears.

Balor comes down, hits the coup de grace, tosses Reigns over the ropes and celebrates with his stable as the new champion. You accomplish a couple of things with this:

    - you have created a new main event star

    - you have launched the new heel faction Balor Club at last

    - you create a sensation that will likely lead to a spike in the ratings

    - you set up a potential match involving HHH vs Reigns at Mania while leaving Balor to take on perhaps Undertaker or maybe even Lesnar at Mania for the title.

    - you also get over NXT in a huge way because now the top guy in that brand is also the top guy in the top brand giving NXT a level of unprecedented credibility.

As I said above, it's radical; and no I don't believe this is what's going to happen. But would it be a bad move for the creative direction of the company? I don't think so.

Edit: Nody got there before me. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

I'd be fine with Hunter with the belt tbh.

HHH in 2016 will keep it a short run and he'll only win it so he can put someone else over down the line.

2003 HHH would be a different story however :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,966 ✭✭✭Scavenger XIII

Only thing about that is that I don't think the demon persona should ever appear with a stable, makes more sense in that scenario to use his current RRnR-esque appearance with the jacket.
