No sign of them this year.

I'd nominate nd for best use of a socket set.

From zero to changing a timing chain in less than a year.

Boardsies car of the year would be more difficult.

    Ricer of the year: fern_

Another vote for Foxhole's car here. Love the E39 in general, such a tank of a car.

Still some nice cars on here but less stand out cars than there used to be unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Regular poster troll of the year? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

I'd give a vote for FN's E39. Seems to have a plan for it and is tipping away all along at it. It's really coming together in fairness.

Thread of the year - Lexus IS250 with a Mark Levinson stereo being chased by a jealous Ford Focus while at the same time the rest of the country stopped to look at the IS250 never seen before.

I think you earned picture of the year with the front bumper less S4 a few days ago! The V8 hanging out looked menacing! :D

It was just in getting seals done by previous owner and afew bits.

Audi in their infinite wisdom put the engine of these in backwards and made it a complex 5 valves per cylinder setup so once the timing chain interval comes around it's an engine out job and 1500e of parts to do it, it's advisable to do a new clutch and flywheel while the engine is dropped and all of the hard to reach seals that are otherwise a pain in the ass.

Not looking forward to that bill :(

But yea we all have our problems

Woohoo!!! Delighted to get a vote for something.:D:D I have got some more work done on it but need to get my picture hosting sorted before I can make the next post in the thread. Hopefully I'll get the finger out soon! I'll actually try and get it posted tomorrow.

I'm finding it hard to pick a car of the year for this year. It comes down to YBFocus' E36 and Toyotafanboi's Celica. both cars have all the qualities I want in a car in spades and I love the attitude both of the lads have towards them. Really looking forward to following their progress in the new year, particularly the turbo E36.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,480 ✭✭✭YbFocus

Thanks man, i will make plenty of posts on all the hassle :)

    My car of the year?

Just seen it come out of retirement of late but 166man's 166 is amazing. That or VintageVRS's Golf R.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,575 ✭✭✭166man

Another vote for the Samurai as the project thread of the year.

Car of the year has got to be YB's E36/ DZ's Clive (166) or Gvidors Punto. All three are cars that ooze character (never saw the Punto) and put up with a lot this year! The E36 did ~30k miles and did it comfortably in style, The Clive took myself a few others to France and all over Europe after a last minute change, and the Punto went everywhere from the Wesht of Ireland to Mondello for track use!

    I couldn't decide!

Thread of the year is the IS250 Levinson sound system Hachi -whatever his name is.

It's been an interesting year alright. Hope 2016 is good to you all. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭nd

Thanks for the nomination. It really helps when you have a car to mess with that doesn't need to go on the road again quickly. So that if it takes you a week to figure something out /get a part/wait for the rain to pass ect, it's no big deal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,866 ✭✭✭✭bear1

I would say I was the mos patient bastard when it came to giving a lemon a chance to still impress. The Lexus thread gets my vote, wish he was still around :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,480 ✭✭✭YbFocus

Yeah bear it was tough watching that man, that damn car!
I got to 31k just before mondello killed it, it will hopefully become an interesting project car for next year now :)

Thread of the year is the is250 roadtrip one for sure :)

Unrelenting Lexus one-up manship definitely deserves an honorable mention.

My fav cars are CHs blue BMW 430 GC, 166mans green 166 and (not sure whos) blue Golf R.

Should we compile a list of categories and try start threads for proper nominations, could be a bit of fun like?

    Thread of the year
    Post of the year
    Poster of the year
    Car of the year
    Project of the year

    What are the titles usually?

    That's the edited version.

    From 2 years ago

This worked pretty well last year ,so we thought we'd give it a bash again.I meant to get this up and running earlier in the year but I've been pretty busy in rl.

    Only 4 categories this year.

    Poster of the year

    Boardsie's car of the year

    Thread of the year

    Photo of the year

One nomination per category per poster. You don't have to nominate in every category, but do try, as it would be brilliant if you could, as if we could get at least 5 nominees for each award, that would be pretty ideal and no, you can't nominate yourself.

Please use the format for your nominations otherwise they will not count.

    Poster of the year

    Boardsie's car of the year

    Thread of the year

    Photo of the year

For the photo and thread of the year please link to them otherwise they will not be counted as nominations.

When we've got our nominees in around 1 week, we'll lock this thread and then everyone can have their vote on a seperate thread(s).If there are no clear nominees the winner will be selected by the Motor Mods.

Don't bother posting if you're gonna be nasty. It'll be deleted and the same rules will apply regarding infractons/bans.

    Enjoy
