Saw this in another forum and thought it was a nice topic.

    I'm hoping the following happens:
    1. I complete my thesis and get awarded a masters, which I've done while working so it means a lot to me.
    2. Hoping my divorce goes through which it should.
    3. Predicated on 2. hoping I get a chunk of cash from the transfer of my house to add to a housing deposit
    4. Planning on taking a bit more time out and going on a few breaks
    5. Planning on eating in more, and eating more healthily.
    6. Gonna give up the smokes, and save that money for 4.

Anyone else have plans they'd like to achieve next year?

Best of luck :) what's your thesis about?

It's a fairly diverse subject in IT, I'm doing a masters in it :)

    1. Learn how to drive
    2. Get a job with more regular hours
    3. Lose a stone
    4. Try not to fcuk up as much as I did in 2015
    5. Be a better partner and a better friend
    6. Save more
    7. That my lungs will behave themselves and that I can improve my lung function (and maybe actually be compliant with treatment)

Try me! Just kidding :) I wouldn't have a clue.

    1. Give up the smokes again :( (I've zero willpower)
    2. Go back to studying again, but this time pick something outside the Finance/Accountancy realm, (bores the diddies off me now). I'd like to
start from scratch and do something in humanities.

Getting through and surviving my last year of mortgage payments. Next Christmas (2016) I'll be free of a financial burden!

Having the strength to get rid of a job assignment I hate, even if it's less money.

Being still alive and kicking in 12 months time.

    1. Continue on with my studies in Horticulture-one year closer to my degree.
    2. Spend more of my weekends in Dublin with friends. I'm lonely down here on my own and miss them.
    3. Get fitter and be a stronger swimmer.
    4. Give more time over to giving something back to society.
    5. Travel more hopefully- back to Germany for permaculture experience and to meet fellow activists, and Marinaleda in Spain.
    6. Make more friends in areas of interest.
    7. Get work experience on an organic or permaculture holding.

    That's it really. :)

1-Get into the shape I once had
    2-Finish degree
3-Start work as a self employed IT contractor leaving the PAYE world.
4-Get rid of 15k debt which is really annoying
    5-Travel more weekend breaks
6-Allocate more time to hobbies after college year

2015 for me has been the worst year in my 28 years on earth. Things can only get better.

    Work for a few months
    Make some more friends
    Travel some more
Greatly improve upon my current skill levels in 2 or 3 areas
Make time to develop some projects of my own
    ...and most importantly
Get to a mental place where I feel like I can settle down in one area for at least a couple of years

    1. Start saving. I'm awful at that.
    2. Pass my driving test.
    3. Learn to stop panicking over everything.
    4. Stop getting angry so easily.
    5. Go back to England to see all of my friends.
    6. Have fun.

Nothing huge and hopefully all doable.

Fascinating seeing the difference old age makes here on this theme.. To be still alive and self sufficient in my own (rented) home. If things go wrong here ( landlord) to find a house that fits my needs as well as this one. To trade at markets for even ONE more year and to feed as many babies and needy as possible through the work my extended family do through that work.. to find more knitting I can do at home also. All very very simple and life is so precious and short. Oh to grow more ... although my beloved garden takes second place, I sell plants too..Just to LIVE in my small simple way..

Demand a job that allows you to work from anywhere. If you have no kids, then use IT as a mechanism to see the world. "Sorry guys, I was playing some beach volleyball on Rio. Showed them that Irish folk can indeed play football..." "Having a bite here in Prague". ...

    1) get back walking - I'm off my feet after an accident at the mo.
    2) get better at my job so I can repay them for being so good to me this year.
    3) find a new place to live that doesn't have an insane landlord attached.
    4) get back on a horse.
    5) get back on my particular horse.
    6) find some way to let my family and friends know how much I appreciated the help and support I got in 2015.

All bar no. 3 are directly related to one unexpected split second in november... It's amazing how one little thing can change all your hopes for the next year!!

Thanks and yes and it has taken me decades to get to this place. 30 years of misdiagnosis and damaging wrong medical treatment and being treated like dirt takes a while but am here now. More and more determined to be of use and ornament! The rest matters so little really. It has all made re resilient and deeply appreciative of all I have. And to value what others call trivial. Listening to my heart not to others..Just a few more years is all I seek!

Absolutely nothing 100% happy with how I approach life. Only plan the necessary such as bills etc. Everything else is as it comes. No plans to stress about.

    1. Continue being awesome
    2. Be happy and make myself happy.
    3. Treat those people who genuinely care about me as well as they treat me.
    4. Treat those who are out for themselves as well as they treat me.
    5. We might be moving so the rest of our plans will determine around that.
    6. Invest in the future while I'm in a position to
    7. Work hard, save hard.
    8. If we don't leave Ireland, back to college.

I'm planning on weight (10-12 kg hopefully) so that I can enjoy putting it back on later in the year. It'll give me the same goals again next year so will stop me thinking of anything new.

    Get a pay raise.
Cut down even more on fags.
    Stay awesome.

1- Pass my driving test. I have it at the end of January..wish me luck!

2- Try to move to another job in work. Love the company I'm in but been in the same type of role for the past 2 years and would like a change.

3- Lose weight. I put on a bit of weight in the last couple of years and I want my old jeans to fit again! I've lost about 3kg in the past 4 months so getting there..

    Get back into full-time work.
Make a start on my PhD.
    Stay sane and sober.
Do quite a bit of travelling to see friends abroad.

I'd be very happy if I could achieve all of the above next year.

    Finish my degree
    Get a full license
Be promoted (have already applied but interviews early Jan!)
Either be a better partner and live happily ever after or cut my losses and move on from my partner and live happily ever after.
Usually dreary things like drink less and save more...

Move back to Ireland for good and maybe go back to education. Here's hoping that 365 days from now I'll have done one of these! Best of luck to all you other hopers and wishers.

    Great topic :)
    Hopes/Plans for 2016

    Hopes first
    1) I hope 2016 will as emotionally uneventful as 2015, almost had a family tragedy in 2013 and lost my best buddy in 2014, 2015 was bliss as nothing happened, long may it continue

    Plans
    1) Lose a bit more weight
    2) Get fitter & stronger
    3) Continue deploying don't sweat the small stuff mentality
    4) Save while the going is good
    5) Have to do a bit of corporate travelling in March/April direction so going to make myself take a few days off and so some tourist stuff while there, I'm not the travelling type so I'm not overly inclined to but I think I should :)

I don't know you at all Mr Tom but you might well be a loner but I'm sure you're not a loser :)

Lots of people make their way through life alone for lots of it without being surrounded by friends and family, they aren't losers.

You're certainly not a loser! You're a lovely guy (from what I know from boards). You're better off without those people. I like the fact that I've only one or two friends. Makes things so much easier!
