Give me Gordon Banks booting the ball up field from his hands anyday. Booting the ball straight up and under. Can anyone identify the first time:

goalkeepers started kicking the ball out of their hand in a kind of slicing, sidewards way?

footballers started wearing their socks over their knees? (The only few footballers I always remember wearing their socks down at the ankle even from the start of a game were Jinking Jimmie Johnstone of Celtic and Dave Thomas of Burnley.)

footballers running their studs over the ball before kicking or passing it instead of simply nudging it with the toe first? Some goalkeepers do this too.
