Health advice you'll never hear

You come a lot of gym fanatics who think they have it all figured out. The advice they know is normally all good (for arguments sake), but here's a few things you'll be certain you'll never hear them mention:
    • not to eat tinned foods
    • not to eat microwaved food
    • turning your mobile off at night
    • ignore any doctor's requests to take antibiotics(for the most part)
    • having your butcher trim the fat off their steak before it's minced
In other words, all their strategies are short term. People might be likely to believe you're a cynical conspiracy theorist if you voiced these points out loud, so usually I wouldn't; but I'm surprised no one else seems to bother having any awareness for these things.

    What's wrong with tinned food?

Don't know, but I heard that a few years back, and not to microwave food too!

You don't hear that because its not true

Brill i can rest assured, an expert has given an opinion based on eh ?.

Antiboitics should be taken when needed, doctors usually know when they are and aren't needed.. Its dangerous to just make such a statement about medication.

The point about the fat in mince is obvious..

I cant see any problem with microwaves, the microwaves used in them do nothing to the food, they are essentially the same energy as light and I hear nothing about keeping your food in the dark. Excessive heating and cooking of food isnt nice but that is nothing to do with microwaves in particular.

    Odd post.

There is nothing wrong with tinned food. It's what's in the tin you should be bothered about.

There is nothing wrong with microwaved food. It's what you put in the microwave that matters.

-- and yeah, don't listen to doctors. What do they know? Plan your health regimen around general hearsay on online forums.

Doctors might just give it as a precaution. Who could possibly know all the overlapping symptoms for the hundreds of bugs out there? I myself wouldn't try to supercede my superior immune system.

Rarely requested though. Most fitness fanatics don't want the butcher to look at them like they've 4 heads!

Is that to do with tinned foods? because it's nothing to do with the fact they're are in darkness!

That sentence doesn't even make sense. You don't have to be an expert on anything to know that microwaving your food is not dangerous, that's a myth that was around thirty years ago when they first came out.

Ignore doctors when they tell you to take antibiotics, brilliant advice there. Where to even start.

Is this a board for nutrition experts only?

I'm presuming you're not a particle physicist, so if you were smart, you'd come to the conclusion that it's best to err on the safe side.

Just because everyone does something doesn't mean they're right. That's silly thinking... i.e, the peer pressure comparison.

That has nothing to do with the question the thread poses. If you're not up to speed on the matters then you shouldn't comment. It's up to you if you want to investigate yourself, and from there you can then prioritise as to whether it's worth the inconvenience.

Most good trainers do tell you to turn off the mobile at night to prioritise sleep. Also, lean mince would be suggested.

No one suggests not using a microwave because for a lot of people, the microwave makes eating healthier feasible.

I already addressed the fact that I wouldn't say this stuff out loud in real life in the original post specifically responses like yours.

So you come on here, make all this silly comments and expect us all to believe you without a shred of proof? And if I can't find the proof myself then tough? Is that it?

They didn't have the option of Illuminati Physics in college.

So I just went with Experimental Physics.

Once again, I'm acting upon the assumption that most people here are aware of the issues I've mentioned or that they may have heard scientific arguments for/agst.

You obviously haven't, and therefore (to you) the points I made may seem like a bunch of randomly pulled statements from anywhere that don't make any sense. Hence you mightn't have much business here. If not, then tough.

I am not here to try win you over, nor should u expect me to have the time of day.

God, ye're a confrontational lot so ye are... with a bit of sarcasm thrown in. Either way, I'll be back, if it's only for the banter.

Ok then fair enough. If I ask nicely, can you provide some info on your claims, and I'll read with an open mind.

    Such a random thread.

I'd partly agree with antibiotics. Avoid unless absolute necessary. I know too many people that use them all too often like a cough bottle.

Well for example there a estrogen mimicking compound called bisphenol A in the lining of tins, that leaches into the food over time. Haven't read about it in years.

Thanks, I'll use that expression in case I ever want to condescend to someone who is too passionate about something! Ever heard of the opposite of that effect, the 'sheeple effect' lets call it! After all, having an imagination and being able to question is part of being human.

Goes to show.. anything can be argued to be a flaw as you will learn.
