To come back to the OP, has Yo Yo Ma ever played Ireland? I've searched the odd time, but never found anything, or perhaps just missed it.

I went to see John O' Connor in the NCH last year and he was great.

Recent purchase: some Alison Balsom tunes.

Yeah Yo Yo Ma has been in the NCH several times. Never caught him there myself but he does come round alright.

Bartok, Shostakovich and Mahler at the moment, particularly Bartoks Concerto for orchestra and Mahlers 5th and 9th.

I always find time for some Beethoven and Schubert among everything else i have on rotation.

Anybody up for a listening party were we could meet up and share some music somewhere?

I first heard it in my early teens as part of the soundtrack to 'A little romance' and I've loved it ever since.

Earlier on I was listening to some of the Twelve Concerti Grossi Op. VI by Arcangelo Corelli. Wow.

it's on the modern classical side of things but strumming music by charlemagne palestine is absolutely stunning. probably the most emotive work of minimalism you'll find anywhere

Not necessarily Classical but the Jazz section isn't hugely popular, and Brubeck has always struck me as a classical musician trapped in the body of a jazzman.

Just finished viewing the film, The Death of Stalin, and whatever else you can say about him he had good musical taste as Mozart's Concerto No. 23 seemed to has been his favourite.

Alexis Ffrench. I’m not sure if this really fits under classical but I absolutely adore this guy. His music is beautiful.

If I ever get married, I want to walk down the aisle/have the first dance to this song, I just think it’s a stunning piece of music.
