I don't like either, to be honest.

I have a four year old so Christmas obviously. The original three were the only good Star Wars films

Christmas because Star Wars isn't really my cup of tea.

They only difference between Star Wars and Christmas is you can change the station on the telly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 669 ✭✭✭josephryan1989

You can have both together. :)

The Holiday Special is so bad that George Lucas reportedly tried to hunt down all the original tapes and destroy them

    Watch it and beware!

Definitely star wars, the constant ads and media hype over Christmas have sucked the fun and novelty out of Christmas for me.

Star Wars definitely. Bought my ticket on Sat. 2pm Thursday. Can't wait. I'm like a child at xmas.

All the Star Wars Fans (I was one when younger) will get so excited about this new film coming out and then within about 2 weeks they'll all be saying it's shíte like the last 3 films that were made!

Pfffffft, as if thats really a choice.

Ideally Santa should cut the few remaining ties he has with Jesus and join up with star wars. It would really boost his profile and help him hit his core demographic. Big children with more money than sense.

I really, really shouldn't having been burned before and knowing that a lot of what's coming is fan-pandering but the child in me has me stupidly excited for Star Wars.

On the plus side, after the 20th I can start focusing my excitement energies on Christmas instead.

I went for Star Wars, i've been hyped up for it since I saw the first trailer early in the year. With all that build up and hype put into it I really hope it pays off.

Could not give a flying f**ck about Star Wars.

If Star Wars had been released a few years ago it would have been Star Wars. I really am (hopefully not naively) optimistic about it. Especially since I saw that American Duracell Christmas ad. But I have a 3 year old. And I have it on good authority that as well as his much longed for Batcave, Santa has a few amazing surprises for him. This Christmas is going to be in the top 10 best days of my life ever. :D

it has to be star wars, i remember distinctly as a 10 yr old kid seeing the empire strikes back and being blown away by it, total escapism from the drudgery of life

    Let me see......

Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ on Earth and spans twelve days!

Add one turkey & stuffing, ham, sprouts, mince pies & cream, mistletoe & wine, Christmas presents, plum pudding & custard.........
While option two is the celebration of a two hour Hollywood futuristic Sci Fi Movie!

Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to go and see 'The Force Awakens' in my local cinema, but you can't compare Christmas to a film :o

As johnny giles would say, you can only take each game as it comes. I will look forward to star wars until i see it, be disappointed in it as it was as big of a letdown that i knew it would be.

Gas thing is; Ronald Reagan was asked the very same question back in 84.
We're all still here so I guess he chose Christmas.

    Star Wars... not.
    The last THREE were rubbish.
The merchandising is exploitative of fans at these levels. What's not licenced?
The storylines aren't great what with the taxes and the trade wars and the......?.....snoring...

I've never even seen Star Wars but considering how integral it is to popular culture, "it's awful, get a grip" doesn't seem much of an argument.

And "the recent three were terrible" - but this... isn't one of the recent three.

Well if you add in the Clone Wars and the Christmas special then Star Wars is recognized as mostly ****e.

I must be the only person who thinks the Phantom Menace is underrated :P Jar Jar Binks is as annoying as the Ewok scenes in Return of the Jedi

Revenge of the Sith was decent too

    I'm excited for both :P

How is anyone getting hyped about the new Star Wars? Have you forgotten how bad the last three were? Plus it's directed by Captain Lens Flare...

Don't get me wrong, I will check it out, but I wouldn't be crazy enthused.

Christmas & Star Wars...two of the most over rated entities in one thread...

    I think I'll go & open a vein now...

    Wat?

I live in a house that Santa visits. A few years ago I didn't. If Santa wasn't a part of my Christmas I'd be more psyched for Star Wars.

Why would the last three have a bearing on this one which has a different director though? It's the sequel to The Empire Strikes Back isn't it? (Genuine question as I don't know for certain!)
