I have a spa day booked for tomorrow, but my period has just arrived :'( Can't cancel at this stage.
Obviously the pool/sauna etc is out of bounds, but I have a wrap and facial booked too; will I still be bale to avail of these? Would it be unhygienic? Could I just wear shorts?
I am not a spa/beauty kind of woman, so sorry if this is a stupid question!
    TIA

Is it an all in package? You'll have to ask the venue whether you can avail of just the wrap and facial. I'm not entirely sure what's involved in a wrap but I can't see the problem with the facial.

I use a mooncup (menstrual cup), which means this wouldn't be an issue at all. I don't know if it's something you'd consider trying? It can take a bit of getting used to though.

If you use tampons, I would've thought that would be fine for the facial and wrap... and even the sauna. I thought people used them in pools too? I don't think they're ideal for this, but something to consider.

Edit: sorry, I just realised you're there today. I hope you're able to enjoy yourself regardless.

There should be no problem. You will either wear your own underwear or provided with a some paper pants for the wrap.

I haven't used mooncup but I would probably empty it before starting my treatment just for peace of mind.

Why not just use a tampon or a mooncup? There are no issues with tampons in pools or saunas, and I can't see why there'd be an issue with it during a wrap, and certainly not a for a facial. Just have a wash/use some feminine wipes before you go in and you'll be grand.

I often go swimming with a tampon. I don't see why this is an issue. Also a Mooncup would work, keep meaning to get one of those! Hope you enjoy your spa day.

For women/girls of certain religious backgrounds, using inserted products is not sanctioned morally.

Wouldn't using unisex spas be against those religious backgrounds, though, too?

    I don't know.

All I do know is that I have come across Catholic girls from rather strict cultures who were forbidden to use tampons.

Excuse my ignorance, but I dont really understand what the problem is. I swim a few times a week. When I have my period, I still need to swim. Likewise if I have had a tough gym session, I will use the steam room to ease my muscles - again regardless of the time of the month. Thats what tampons are there for (I must try out moon-cups after this pregnancy). I've never had a wrap and am not sure what it involves, but I cant see how having a period could interfere with a facial.

Perhaps I am being ignorant of some cultural/religious beliefs norms - if I am, I apologise.

It would be frowned upon in certain Catholic houses/schools, I was strongly discouraged myself until I forced the issue as a teenager

I suppose the religious thing is ignorance....using tampons etc is akin to losing ones virginity. I use a mooncup, it's great because you can just get on with your life without stress. I'd go so far as to say that towels now seem a very primitive and unhygenic method of sanitary protection now.

Towels suit some. I have no desire using moon cup but I always used tampons when swimming. I'm pretty sure someone skipping pe in high school when we were swimming because they had period would be going home with a note for parents.

Frankly I find religious objections to it a bit ridiculous nowadays.
