    That is not funny
    And kind of personalizes ISIS

You may forgive it if it was funny

It seems self indulgent and a bit embarrassing

Internet/Facebook "comedians" are generally complete and utter garbage. This merely reinforces that.

Pathetic really. ISIS or what they do isn't a laughing matter

They're just as much fair game for satire as everything else in this world. It doesn't defend or glorify their acts in any way, quite the opposite really it makes a mockery of their claims of legitimacy. Sadly in the case of the link in the OP it's not satire, just shițe

Another rehash of one of those 'You know you're Irish when...' loads of balls, just in a different guise. When will these 'comedians' cop on that warnings about the immersion and the mention of Leitrim being a dump aren't funny? He only stopped short of mentioning Glenroe and how if anyone's not drinking they must be on antibiotics. #madcraic #banter

Leitrim is a hidden gem (apart from the Stags and Hen madness in Carrick lol).

Come on over for the craic like.

Have to admit, thought the ' lad Alan' and 'Sharons' law' were pretty funny! Criticism on here seems very harsh, a tough crowd on here it seems.

I thought it was rather witty and clever. Irish people are a bunch of begrudging twats. I know this because I want Conor McGregor to lose every fight and I don't know why.

I am sure if ISIS were reading the Mirror and that unfunny open letter, they might come over for the Belfast nightclubs, if they read the other story link that was on the page of that open letter.
    http://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/shocking-image-shows-two-couples-3869468#rlabs=2%20rt$sitewide%20p$1

This is the shocking photograph showing two couples having sex outside a Belfast nightclub.

They are trying to attract suicide bombers...

Not really. It just wasn't funny. I've heard enough funny stuff to know what funny sounds like and this is isn't it. Very simple.

I am not a 'begrudging twat' as you so eloquently put it

Its just not funny...How I know this is because I didn't laugh or chuckle or even smile.

Maybe the 'Sharon' & 'Alan' references could have been witty if encompassed in some brevity which is fundamental to the art of wit

And I guess some people have a less exacting sense of what is clever & witty

It pretty much fails at every hallmark of observational comedy humor by pointing out absurdity in culture through hyperbole. Instead it just comes across as tired caricatures of irish culture interwoven to try be original by using isis as the focus.

Telling a joke or story has a formula, it doesn't ramble on and on. But look at the end of the day it's just a joke, just one that fell flat.

Yeah like that Cian Twomey lad - just cannot see anything funny, it's just swearing and a silly accent.

If I thought something was funny, I would happily acknowledge it though - I don't care if it's on the internet or from Ireland or whatever. It's not always due to being "begrudging", it's usually due to finding something unfunny, nothing more. But others may find it funny - not having a go at them. Each to their own.

Glad you said it. I can't get over the fact that people find that fool Cian twomey funny. I find him incredibly irritating and not even remotely funny. And this other Finbaaaaar idiot who wrote the ISIS letter is probably knocking one off at the attention his piece of crap writing is getting.

Ireland does not currently have the means of defending nor repairing damage from a static threat that is Sellafield!

Never mind an army of people that can move freely around our little island potentially strapped with explosives.

I read an article here published back in 2014 where it states
...Ireland is not doing enough to combat the threat of ISIL, the terrorist group which controls vast swathes of Iraq and Syria.
"They (ISIL members) live here, they are active at the level of small circles, giving lectures, talking to the youth," Dr Saleh told Newstalk Breakfast.
"This is a problem. We've said that from the beginning, now we have it. We didn't tackle it from the beginning...

That idiotic statement referred to in this thread is nothing short of infantile from a supposed grown man.
    The threat is real.
Ireland just doesn't have the means nor capabilities right now to defend itself nor repair itself should an attack of any kind happen.
That juvenile with his statement to ISIS is doing nothing more than drawing more attention on us, attention which we do not actually need by any shape of the imagination.

I did read this from two-days ago stating
...the Gardaí reissued a press release from the commissioner made in the aftermath of the Paris attacks indicating that "the threat level in this jurisdiction remains unchanged and the threat environment in this jurisdiction at the moment can be described as one where "an attack is possible but not likely".

Personally did not find the statement to IS humorous, not in the slightest,
    kerry4sam

Look, the fact of the matter is , NOWHERE does. That's the whole idea of this style of terrorism. I'm not singling you out, I've just seen this being said by so many people over the past two weeks.

He's a sound enough lad. Remember, he wrote this probably thinking only his mates would see it, so it probably won't stand up to a full comedy critique.

Comparisons to Cian Twomey are so harsh :)

'Finchie' has set up his own Facebook fan page in the last 24 hours. If features his face (badly) photoshopped on to an image of Heath Ledger as The Joker. It's already on 613 likes.

In the 'About' section, it simply says
#thislad #thatlad about to take over your news feed with random writings from the back of me brain!

"that lad who wrote the open letter to ISIS"

May the Lord have mercy on us all.
