I thought it was on driving.ie but it's not there now, did you buy it?:)

Just noticed the roof and bonnet are carbon wrapped, ohh and those alloys, who was driving this, el chapo?

Those "modifications" would make me worry a little as to the life the car may have had.
Have you thought about an A6 Quattro 3.0 tdi?
There are a few for sale 2013 / 2014. Would be a lovely subtle performance car that can pretty much do it all.

Love the look of the A6 with the black edition spec. I may well venture to the dark (Audi) side for the next car alright. Must test drive one because I haven't before. Guy I know has a 2015 A6 Avant S-Line, 20" wheels, it looks the business.

Quattro is now available on the 2.0 TDi now too.

Test drove this today. I haven't driven the MK7 GTI but regardless, I was surprised at how different I imagine the power delivery is in this. Brutal is the only word :D

Even with 5K down for a new one, it's still €787 per month on PCP and I feel it's a a bit too much.

    those seats

That monthly rate looks to be too high to me.

    5000+(36*787)+17000ish(GFMV)= €50,332

Maybe you ticked plenty of options!

781 PM actually, I just checked again. Sunroof and a few other bits but nothing crazy. Cost of credit 1600/1700 so the figures are the right ones. Just seems high. Super fun to drive though!

Yeah my initial reaction was they were high, but as you say look spot on. I would have loved a sunroof but couldn't justify the expense. They look the business.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 701 ✭✭✭carsfan

Any extras like sunroof, leather etc. push the monthly payment up a lot as they do not add anything to the gfv and are paid for in full over the 3 year pcp period.
I think white suits the gti better than the R but I love those pretoria alloys.

The best bit about those alloys are they're only a €120 upgrade or something as they're already 19s on the car!!

Had a look at this yesterday. I was offered a good deal on it but my mechanic who works in BMW said he has one in the dealership with 4k worth of repairs at the moment so that alone put me off. I'm a man tormented. :(

Some machine to drive! If you can find one that had injectors and turbos replaced then youre laughing! I would think by this stage most would have had this work done so I would rule them out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,511 ✭✭✭MarkN

I had one for nearly 2 years in 2007 and the injectors went when it was only a few months old. Nice poke out of them, I should've just kept the one I had back then and saved myself a lot of hassle :P

Oh did you? I toyed with getting one and drove a few, some machine! And that sound was amazing too! I drove one that was kept immaculately but I don't think it had turbos or injectors done so didn't take the chance! It had a quaife LSD in it too! Happy out with my little FiST now :D

This was her. SO clean. The price before discount is in the window in the last picture - I lost the run of myself in order to get my first BMW. Imagine my horror when I saw it for sale a few years later mid recession for €13,000

I run a 335i pretty much identical to that, save for red seats instead of brown and no sunroof. I can't believe how good value that car is - that is ridiculously good value for money.

Most of the problems can be fixed for decent cost these days (all OEM parts):
Injectors: about £100 each now and very easy to change (I replaced a month after I bought the car to the latest design)
Turbo rattle: New rings & actuator: <€300 + labour
HPFP: If it's going to go, it will have been changed by now (mine was)
Oil Filter Gasket Housing: Parts are < €30, a little labour intensive.
    Ignition coils: €25 each
Transmission pan leak: I did this for <€200
    Waterpump & thermostat: €400

Going to BMW for repairs on a car like this is just nuts. Plus the fact that car comes with a 12 month warranty makes it a no brainer. BUY IT.

Considering the lack of depreciation left, they're not that expensive to run, still incredibly enjoyable to drive and still turns heads.

Alternatively, have a look at 645ci's - similar poke, nice noise.

that 335 is nice, I would black out the chrome door surrounds, throw on an OEM m sport bumper and change the angel eyes to white and you would have a really class looking car...

    Just knowing who's selling it......I wouldn't.

If second hand is what you want then hold out for a few weeks more, wait for sterling to drop a little more and go swimming.

I remember supplying a 335i SE Auto coupe in 08, it was an absolute gorgeous machine to drive.

No the guy I use works for BMW but I use him on his own time, I wouldn't use a dealer out of warranty.

The 335 (black one) is nice but I'd prefer an m-sport, it was a smokers car (my 1 year old will be in the back and it is quite noticeable), it needs a good bit done to it (currently is an NCT failure) but the dealer was happy to get all that sorted.

You reckon I'm mad not to?

I would have it thoroughly checked out by a bmw specialist before purchase, thats for sure. My idea of mad is 60k on a new bm. The 335 as example, was a far more expensive car new than 60k and total cost of ownership will be a lot less than new bm. Also smiles per mile much higher :D

There's a beautiful 2007 on Pistonheads but works out at €18,000 before VRT. At that money I'd rather a 635D. Maybe if the UK pull out car prices will come crashing down - here's hoping!

My 325ci flew through the NCT last week so I'm happy to keep it and hold out for the right car. Reckon after getting back into a 335 though, maybe I've found where I'll go next.

the 325ci are so good, good enough that my bro also has a 530 in addition to his 325ci and I am looking at CLS and S class and there is no way I will be selling the 325ci, decent balance between tax and power, very reliable and worth to me, so much more than I would get back selling it...

I hear ya. I'm gonna get the 4 wheels properly refurbed soon and it will truly be mint then. I've sort of got the room to keep it even if I do get something else but don't think it would get the use. A future classic, perhaps.

Mark, I'd tick the luxobarge box if I were you. It appears to be a car you've not owned yet.

Get one with a V8 and a load of toys and you won't look back.

I'm personally going for a 2010+ A8 4.2 tdi within the next few months as the interior is just an unbelieveable place to be especially at night with the lighting effects.

It'll remap to 390bhp so it's no slouch either.

Can be landed and vrt'ed for sub 30k.

Funny you should say that, I regularly drive by a 2007 S8 in Clontarf, hadn't seen it in ages though and today it was parked up outside The Food Rooms etc and it is so well kept it's just beautiful - I thought to myself that would be a truly special car to own but probably still decent money.

    Edit - this looks interesting?
