3 very different cars there. And just to be pedantic the discovery isn't a range rover, it's a land rover so you won't get the prestige badge. Surprised its not badged range rover though with the price of them.
The a7 s line is the nicest car there by a distance in my opinion but it depends what you're looking for. 3 series may be marginally more practical but like for like doesn't measure up to an a7.
Will be cheaper though, by a good bit.

Yeah the Audi A7 is gorgeous
Just always liked the land rover discovery a nice black one tinted windows .

Il look at the two and see what I find and go from there thanks

The m performance skirts and splitter contrast well.
    It doesn’t look boy racerish.

Had not seen a G30 in that colour 'til now. It does indeed work but I would not be a fan of the matt plastic front bits including the grills (or the M-Perf logo to the passenger side). Easily fixed though

Nice one bazz. Looks like an Individual colour? And extra plastic bits look better than on the other cars I have seen.

Yes it's an Individual colour alright and probably cost a small fortune on the options list thus it's rarity. I'd be the same, not normally a fan of the M Performance body kit and not sure if that one is a genuine one or after market with just M Performance stickers. Wouldn't be a fan of matt black either, would prefer a gloss black finish to the M Performance spliter and skirts. Alloy wheels look like they are standard 20" M Sport Plus wheels whereas the genuine M Performance ones are more black than silver. The garage selling look like they sell aftermarket alloy wheels and body styling so there is a good chance they could have put all that aftermarket stuff on it. It seems to be common enough with Northern garages.

Is the spec on that car not pretty standard too excluding the colour and other exterior bits? Grates me seeing "fully loaded".

I love San Marino blue on M3/4 but I think a 5 series works better with a more subtle colour and less accessories. Certainly I wouldn’t pay extra for that car. 5 series should be more understated.

Fully loaded is a commonly misused term by the motor trade. It's not fully loaded but it's not your bog standard G30 either. It's got a few option packs on it including comfort and visibility packs which were not cheap.

I'd be the opposite. I'd like something just a little different to the million of other G30s on the road in black, blue, silver or white. The M Performance tat probably looks out of place on a car as big as the 5 Series so it would be no loss to me if that car didn't have it.

The acceleration and speed of this is frightening, even the presenter is in awe which is rare as he is super cool usually. Not a car I especially warm to but massively impressive.

I've seen him get animated too with another porsche, a gt3 rs this time. The sound from that na engine at 9000rpm must be unreal in the car.

I don’t know how he can appear so relaxed at 340kph. The slightest thing from an inattentive road user to debris on road etc and you’re a goner surely. It’s like watching a video game.

Good to see someone is helping keep the irish economy afloat.

^^^ That is some serious car.

My car hasn't been registered yet, it's booked in early August, hopefully no hidden surprises the vrt is high enough as it is.

I'm enjoying the car. There's nothing really that I don't like about apart from the lack of noise and drama from the sound. It's grand when pushed, but very quiet in most driving conditions. I am thinking of getting the power and sound kit and enquired about prices. Nearly €2000 cheaper to get it done up north. It's still a hefty cost but doing some research on it and anyone that had it done says its a subtle enough upgrade but completely transforms the car.

    840d for sale here.

Why the need to put an 850i badge on it though....odd decision.

A hideous rear end to that 8 Series imo.

    The mind boggles

If you have enough cash to buy a new 840d how could you be that thick ?

I would love to hear the story behind that car and it’s previous owner.
A psychologist might make a few bob.

I think the 8 gran coupe is just too big for hustling on our roads. That said I wouldn’t say no to it. The badge can be removed.

Unfortunately the reg cannot be removed. Its surely devaluing that car now or at a minimum reducing its market.

Jesus, car salesman will say anything, "As I call it, the double bubble". Yeah, that term didn't exist in the car world before...

I think the M5 competition is an awesome car But reckon that bonnet is a step too far. it’s the kind of thing you’d expect on a ten year old Passat.

I actually have another question - why would somebody with enough disposable income to get a brand new 840d, well, buy a diesel car at all?

I think there’s Something like a 50k jump from the 840d to 850i so I suppose there are limits.

Hi just wondering is it worth getting finance on a car ?

As I get bored of cars after awhile and move on , but if I got a car on finance I would be stuck with it for roughly 5 years

Is there anyway to get out of a finance deal if you want to get a different car

Would I have bad credit history then? Even If I never missed a payment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,615 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

You can finance a car for different terms, it doesn't have to be 5 years. Obviously though the shorter the term the higher the monthly repayments. It's obviously daft to take out a loan over 5 years if you only plan to keep a car for 2 years. You can get out of it early but you will incur a hefty financial penalty to do so. You can pay off what you owe or refinance onto another car but your then just adding a loan plus interest onto another loan plus more interest which is being financially reckless imo. You will just end up always owing more than the car is worth.

Maybe better to look at PCP where the term is fixed at 3 years and many people change to a new PCP deal after 2 years where they have a good bit of equity in the car they are trading back.

I was playing around on the BMW configurator as you do and noticed they know have a finance option that lets you know the monthly’s for pcp or hp. Interestingly it defaults to a four year pcp term when you open it. I always thought three years was all you could do, but they now offer two and four year terms.
I initially thought payments seemed reasonable until I copped it was over four years not three.
I still don’t think BMW are setting these up to give you any equity really at the end of term unlike the VW group cars.
