Why couldn"t I register directly with charity

Event took place recently for good cause which I was more than happy to support. Participants had to register online through a voucher/coupon site and pay up to €50 for a family ticket. This site claims that all proceeds will go to the charity but how do we know that they did. Seeing that this is a very well known charity with it's own established website and a far greater following than the coupon website, why could participants not register directly with the charity.
