Over the last few months i have seen people going very PC on anything out there that you might say about anything. I have been called a Racist about 4 times in the last few months when i give my views on something stupid like food. I said only Asian People can cook Asian food right and i get called a Racist for that ?.

Another time i was called a Racist by a staff member in a bank because she was speaking Irish to someone at the counter and i needed to pay my rent and get back to college i said to them Jesus take your time after being in the line for 20 mins. .

Loads of stuff like this has gone nuts lately you can say anything this is not rated PG with out being insulted and brought up on it.

South Park this season has been fantastic for pin pointing what is wrong with the world. As this week as the story was that if you wont to have sex with a girl without it being rape its that you need to get them to sign a contact before hand ?. How long before something stupid like that comes in here ?.

The only time I was ever called racist by someone was when I told them the headphones on my shop's shelf were made in China.

Like to racism and the likes i have dealed with it 1st had growing up and still do even if i am 1/2 Irish on my mother side but because i have a foreign name people still think its funny to insult it and start doing a fake Italian accasnt to me.

When i was a child my mother used to bring in Parma ham and the likes and give it to us in his homemade Italian beard for lunch this is going back 17 years ago and kids would not talk to me because of this, That i was eating Natlia before it came big in Ireland i used to have kids telling that i am eating Italian **** as i am Italian ****.

There a few years ago my sister brought her ex boyfriend home to met my mother and father and he turned around and said wait for it to the father are you in the Mafia ?. Now that is racist.

I could go on for pages with all the things that was said to me growing up in my small country town that i am from and they wonder why i hate nearly everyone in it ?.

On a more serious note, something Neil Gaiman wrote has stuck with me.

I was reading a book (about interjections, oddly enough) yesterday which included the phrase “In these days of political correctness…” talking about no longer making jokes that denigrated people for their culture or for the colour of their skin. And I thought, “That’s not actually anything to do with ‘political correctness’. That’s just treating other people with respect.”

Which made me oddly happy. I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase “politically correct” wherever we could with “treating other people with respect”, and it made me smile.

You should try it. It’s peculiarly enlightening.

Most people will have the immaturity to open their mouths to replace the foot that's in there for another. Donald Trump is a prime example. I wouldn't say he's sentiments are non-PC, he's just an asshole with an agenda, no due consideration for others or respect for minority groups whatsoever.

I don't know what the deal is but everyone always seems to take everything people say at face value and not even countenance the idea that what they're saying isn't meant to be an insult. There's an awful lot of superficiality and petty-mindedness about it.

Offence is taken and not given in a lot of cases.

If you're having a random discussion with someone, in all likelihood they're probably not saying anything genuinely offensive unless you unpack it and only assume the most pessimistic interpretation, and even if what they're saying is genuinely wrong-headed, you can correct them on it without coming across as either precious or a belligerent dickhead.

One thing I seem to see is a lot of pure name-calling. If you say "that's racist" or "you're a racist" you've acheived **** all except show everyone how forward thinking you are.
Calling it "offensive" is just whining and doesn't do anything useful.

If you challenge the actual logic that you perceive to be flawed you might get them to think about it, or if you were wrong, realise that they didn't mean what you thought they meant, without getting everyone pissed off.

I think the key is trying not to tip your hand as to what your "angle" is and instead try to engage with people on the merit of their arguments.

Legitmately racist people aren't hard to spot. They're generally not the brightest. They're not going to bother concealing their views because they're going to have the certainty that only really thick people tend to have.
There's no great need to try and find all the supposedly secret ones. There's plenty of others doing things like posting slogans from the BNP on their facebook.

The current season of South Park is one of the best and most socially relevant they've ever produced. And you're absolutely right, this stuff is going way too far.

There's some fairly PC **** around but I tend to just roll my eyes and move on with my life. Then there's the people who claim anything that is different is too PC. Look at the Starbucks cups. People were losing their **** because Starbucks cups don't have snowflakes. Wow that's crazy. Although msg is just something that forms on seaweed naturally. Tomatoes and mushrooms are also high in it.
