The image shows a bus driving down the pedestrianised street. That isn't really a good idea.

Have they mentioned how they are going to handle all the extra pressure regarding traffic if they plan on turning parts of O'Connell into pedestrian streets, traffic on William St is bad enough at times without having to divert all traffic up that way from O'Connell St.

It would help if William Street could actually be utilised to its full capacity instead of the right hand lane being almost constantly impeded by selfish, ignorant clowns stopping and parking up there and causing disruption!

That's true, really bugs me when people abandon their cars on William St. Wonder if they could allow cars turn right onto Sarsfield St and allow them go out over the bridge.

Pedestrianising O'Connell St should be the last thing that's implemented in trying to revitalise the city.

The idea must be from the same person/s that think the new footbridge from the castle to Sarsfield St is a good idea.

Pedestrianisation is not guaranteed yet. http://www.limerickleader.ie/news/home/201599/-New-spine--for-Limerick.html

Proposals put forward almost eight years ago suggested the pedestrianisation of O’Connell Street and this will be put to the public for consultation, the planner said. Concept drawings will be made available to augment this, he indicated.

“Well, if you look back at 2007/8 proposals, there was an idea for bus priority area in front of Brown Thomas. Whether or not that goes ahead as part of this will be subject to public consultation,” said Mr Reeves.

“That is all going to be reviewed as part of this process. These are concepts and they are the best way we are going to get debate going,” he added.

Hopefully if they do go ahead with it that they sort the traffic management out and give it a serious thinking about but have little to no faith in that they will going by some of the other ridiculous traffic layouts around Limerick.

Maybe the only traffic allowed will be public transport? This might allow for the eventual introduction of BRT in Limerick? And if this is introduced successfully it might evolve in to LRT.........we may get that monorail yet :)

€2 million has been secured for a new city library. Great news but the new library/artists studios in Cappamore cost ~€1 million so a lot more will be needed. Where do people think it should be built?
