If you don't have to worry about getting knocked down every time you cross the road, and you've managed to avoid getting blown up / shot by some poxy terrorist organisation fear not, bacteria is going to kill us all. War of the worlds, only we're the aliens

For all we know life may just be an illusion. A complicated dream and when we wake up from it we may discover we were never alive in the first place.

Either that or I discover the rest of you are just robots, put here for my amusement....

Sure but how is that "living" forever.

Yep and the American "can't pay no treatment" right wing bs health care system plays a big part in the development of these bugs.

This is AH I don't think the good people of AH want an existential meditation on the exact meaning of living.

Add in doctors everywhere firing out scripts for antibiotics for decades and patients expecting them and then not completing the full course. And that's before they get added into the food chain(again much more and issue in places like the US). Recipe for disaster.

I'd also throw in laziness in hospitals and changing hospital design. Pre antibiotics and up until remarkably recently hospitals were scrubbed daily with disinfectants. That old "hospital smell". Surfaces were hard and shiny and if you go into old hospitals you'll often see where the walls meet the floors there is a curved surface. Fewer areas where bacteria can live and much easier to wash and disinfect. The fact that over the last few years staff have had to be reminded to disinfect their hands between patients says much.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Ah bugger, I already have MRSA living quite happily in my lungs and sinuses and every few months it starts to get out of control and needs to be dampened down with non-methicillin IV antibiotics (such as teicoplanin).

I'm screwed if antibiotics won't work at all.

I spend far too much time on the WTF subreddit over at Reddit, which has more or less become just "hey let's watch this person die". I swear to f*ck, it's made me absolutely terrified to even walk outside.

Because they use some misleading titles like, "Bus Ride" and you think, "this might be something funny. Maybe this time it might be something WTF like finding something odd on a bus" and you watch the clip for a second and then.. wham. Someone dies.

    I'll learn eventually. I swear.

It's not all bad news. I seem to recall a study from earlier this year where researchers have started growing bacteria in soil to try and find new antibiotics.

I am the mice in your closet, I ponder at lives questions while chomping on the left overs of cheese. I become lifeless at the thought of there been no heaven or hell. It makes me quiver with a most nullifying effect. There is nothing so frightening, I just want to leap from this precipice and lead a life of self transcendence in the loft with the farm cat.

But the farm cat is a pessimist who speaks unruly things about our owners, I do know our owners are below the median income level, so I feel so empathetic towards their lot. What is the solution ? where to I roll my cheese from here ? I have always thought the path towards self-actualisation comes from eating the finest goat's cheese, but no, it comes from having a professional job with a relatively good salary and having a lovely wife in a suburban neighbourhood where we avoid eye contact with our neighbours and buy the latest conspicuous goods to make them jealous.

Onward I go to under the floorboards where I was examine some mouldy bread.

    get wrekt

Last year, the World Health Organisation (WHO) warned that the world is entering a post-antibiotic era in which common infections and minor injuries can kill.

It said the spread of deadly superbugs that evade even the most powerful antibiotics is no longer a prediction but is happening across the world.

Yep, For once the news really is as bad as it sounds. This isn't the usual scaremongering

Pfft! Of course 99.99% of you mere mortals shall perish. It was always going to be this way. Now, the end game begins.

For the others, I will find all of you no matter however long it takes. I am patient, I have wandered the earth for millenia, I have seen many civilizations come and go . I have defeated many of my kind, tyrants, despots and peasant alike. I show no mercy and I will defeat you all...

    There can be only one.
