Sky's yearly price increases are a total joke.

This one is actually the second of this year!

i rang the other day, no discounts for new subscriptions. so I told them where to go.

If i wanted a new TV i'd buy one same with the tablet they tried to off me.

bottom line is, if you want to join them wait till they offer half price for 6 months.

Sky in going up by a euro next month.

Over the course of a year, taking the basic package at 29.50 per month.

    No discounts = 29.50 X 12 = €354
With TV (assuming TV valued at the lower retail price quoted in earlier post) = €354 - €245 = €109
    With discount (half price for 6 months)= (6 X 29.5) + (6 X 14.75) = €265.50

So if you were looking for a TV anyway it is not a bad deal. Though I'd say it's a pretty crap TV

I was quoted 104 euro, for broadband, tv and a second room +(an extra 199 if i wanted a recordable box in the second room)

    104*12=1248 for the full year
or if they were doing the half price deal. then it would be
    52*6+(104*6)=936

so thats 312 euro there charging for the TV.

Your BB cost includes line rental @ €30 a month. There are no discounts or offers available on that.

Be sure the tv isn't a load of crap before signing up for it.

It obviously becomes less attractive the higher up the packages you go and the bigger the discounts that are possible. It certainly won't suit everybody, but it might suit some people.

problem is that on some of the other forums people are having trouble with there broadband dropping and Sky not sorting it out !!. i am out of contract with sky soon , have 2 sky+ boxes in the house so was going to give them another contract plus the broadband but am not now. plenty of options out there now for tv, i see they dont name the model of tv, would not be surprised if its a discontinued model !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,184 ✭✭✭DANNY2014

'model is a LG 32lf510 seems to.be On sale more in Europe very little.English specs for it... Could be worth it as we were thinkin of joining sky so it's a ill.bit of an incentive??? Variety bundle be the best to go.for???

It says one per household new customers only worth a shot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,909 ✭✭✭bennyc

30e set up fee, I take it you pay that regardless, new box and dish also if required, my dish is rusted and the lnb got a shot with a football so no harm in replacing it.
Going to cancel in the morning and go for it. Cheeers OP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,228 ✭✭✭Scruff

might be better off waiting to see what going to be rolled out with then new Sky-Q boxes & packages before being tied into a 12 month contract...

Prices for the sky q are going to be about 20% higher than the HD version and doubt that they will have the lower tier packages. Saw reports of 100 Stirling plus a month, although no pricing has been officially announced

You need to pay €80 install fee (well tests what sky person in shopping centre told me today) if taking the free to offer, even if you have the equipment.
They are offering €10 a month off the better pack for a year and free setup with he box, no free to, but paying €200 less than the offer with the tv.

says 30 quid setup online where you apply for the offer. Might get it for the folks, new tv for the sitting room and new dish and box installed then cancel after the year.

I signed up on 16th, installed today, but still no sign of tv...luckily I have a couple of those already ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,718 ✭✭✭✭muffler

Anyone looking for the tv in a hurry is in for a big disappointment. I think people should read the very short T & C's regarding delivery of the telly.

If I applied today could I cancel before installation (in case the folks decide they don't want it!)

My TV arrived yesterday. Just been to collect it from the post office. Just under a month from ordering to receiving so can't complain.

Now what to do with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭lowelife

It has a digital tuner built in but can't say what it is. Mines only hooked up to free to air satellite.

Gripes are only 1 hdmi and 1 scart. Still good enough for free.
