I'm a fan but I doubt the band would want that...

    I was thinking the same.

I would think that they absolutely wouldn't want to profit from it, if it did happen, so at least maybe the money raised could go towards the survivors' recovery. So some good might come of it.

But I don't know ... the band and everyone involved with the band must be feeling very traumatised and probably feeling a lot of guilt (however unjustified/irrational), I can't imagine they'd want to be subject of a high-profile campaign like that right now.

Anyone with a brain knew that it was only a matter of time before Daesh smuggled in some of their men through the migrant channels. It was not a bold prediction. The question is now how many of them got in and if our leaders do the necessary and firmly shut the borders before more get in.

Not really. The question is, how many did Daesh smuggle in, and how do we find them.

Equally important, however, is: How many radicalised IS members are already here, and what are their targets...

It will be interesting to see if this has any major effect on concert-going in European cities or just nightlife in general.

I know I would think twice about going to a gig now.
Some might see that as irrational but what's to stop a repeat in Dublin. Improbable but not impossible.

Ah you can't stop living your life just because of incidents like this. That's essentially letting the terrorists win.

What's to stop your house going on fire when you're tucked up asleep at home rather than going out? Again, improbable, but not impossible.

For what it's worth, I can't see Ireland being high up on their targets list. I wouldn't be surprised if something happens in England in the not-so-distant future though. :(

To be successful and make money on an artistic performance off of the backs of 129 dead people. Sure, why not. I'm sure they can't wait.

Listen. You are talking to a poster who is an unashamed supporter of the IRA. It's funny he now seems to be coming across all peace loving partridge family as he certainly isn't in other threads concerning the IRA. No doubt 30 years ago Isis and the IRA would have been twinned with one or the other teaching each other how best to blow up pubs.

The Ulster unionists are far more comparable to ISIS than the IRA.

I guess that is what the 100+ last friday thought as well, i am afraid.
Earlier in this thread i posted some quotes from a column that described the area where it all took place.
This is the land of hipster socialists. These neighborhoods recently elected a female socialist mayor, as well as a slew of Green Party candidates, even as the rest of the country voted for the more conservative and anti-immigration parties on the Right.

Tonight’s attacks show the same uncanny sense of symbolism as the January massacres. They targeted neighborhoods where people are more inclined to be tolerant, liberal and progressive. And they targeted the greatest monument to France’s multi-ethnic, pluralistic success: the hallowed ground of the Stade de France.

I guess these people thought they would be about the last ones being attacked.

With all due respect I never heard of them before Friday, and I have never heard a single note of their music.

However, I am confident they are utter shi't, and just because of this tragedy it doesn't mean we have to endorse this talentless cack.

You know you could spend a few minutes flicking through some Youtube videos of them before damning them as "talentless". By the way, they're not actually a death metal band, the name is a joke. Not liking death metal (which is very much an acquired taste) shouldn't be a barrier. Have an open mind & if you still don't like the music fair enough.

Don't know if I'd view it in those terms tbh. A lot of people feel quite helpless, and the first thing I thought of would be that's a statement of resistance from the public at large and an opportunity for us to make our feelings known to these scumbags about what happened.

I wouldn't for a second think about making the band rich off the back of something like this.

So your musical ignorance is Gospel, good, at least we know the lie of he land on this issue.

I usually ignore your posts because they amount to little more than 'I hate Muslims' in my opinion. You thanked a nutter who claimed that all Muslims in their hearts supported what happened in Paris. Shame on you for being such sectarian who feeds into the hatred.

Hard to believe you have the gall to call anyone out on being sectarian given your subsequent posts and your reference to "your type".

    Staggering really.

Fair enough, I thought they actually were a metal band.

I can respect most people's tastes as a case of live and let live each to their own, but death metal and Conor McGregor are where I draw the line :)

Also I would imagine our intelligence gathering is way behind other countries like the UK for instance.

They've plenty of experience gathering intelligence the IRA & UVF. Urban warfare as we know it was largely created in Ireland in the first place. The IRA trained with many Islamic rebels over the years and used the same equipment. We all know we can't completely prevent an attack but I imagine our forces will deal effectively.

Religion has outgrown its use -- now we read for the sake of reading -- not to learn theology. Our ideas of equality have surpassed any religious text -- and now clash.

So yeah, Christianity had it's benefits but we've outgrown it.

The Soviets taught this also. They were wrong.

Go away, using this atrocity as a nice opportunity to bible bash is sickening, though not unsurprising from your type.

I have to agree with the suicide_circus's post, the less religion of any and all kinds, the better.

Fact that the second car was found quite a distance from where it was used ... Seems to indicate at least one attacker was able to leave the scene.

I fear we may see further attacks in the coming days, possibly in another major city like Berlin or London. No matter how tight security is, there's always weak spots.

    You're a real piece of ****.

I'd be 100% certain if that campaign is successful that the proceeds will all be going to a charity related to the victims.

Anyway, I'll wait for proper confirmation. Snow is totally biased.

The whole argument around the validity of the passports is really pointless at the end of the day, as IS don't recognize the national borders of the Middle East.

As far as they're concerned, it's all one big "caliphate" and they see the borders (& secular governments) as "Western interference"

Maybe it's a fake passport, so they got in by pretending to be Syrian. That makes me more worried. How many fake Syrians have we got?

Most of the refugees are arriving via Turkey, so the origin of the "fake" passports does not rule out infiltration via the migrant route.

Yep. And also it would be impossible to say if the person who used it to pass through Greece was/wasn't the same person involved in the attacks.

For those that really did go through it, for those that lost.. My thoughts are with them.

Events like this always bring out people who know *exactly* what amount of blood should be on a particular item of clothing given the amount of dead surrounding them and the amount of blood coming from the dead.
