Had an interesting one today. Solved it eventually.
    Pump ok
    Tiger loop ok
Boiler locks out after 12 seconds
Control box, cell and usual bits were fine
    Anyone have a guess?

Like me, a lot of guessing and cursing was used. But no, remote acting fire valve was perfect.

Something blocking the photo cell from seeing the flame or water instead of oil.

    My last guess; no spark.

Nope. Damaged hose.air break in it. Oil wasn't circulating. Couldn't suck it from the tiger loop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,978 ✭✭✭jimf

so boiler wasn't firing at all I misread your post to think it was firing and cutting out after 12 seconds

had 1 a while back without the tigerloop do exactly the same and by jaysus it was a bitch to solve

as the pump will suck in air but oil wont leak out it can be a head wrecker but well done it sorting it

In all fairness Dtp. "Pump ok" in your first post was assumed mean pump pressure ok.

    Still got us all thinking.

I fitted a brand new pump wearb. I'd blown back the oil line. Id fitted a new tiger loop so I was confident they were 100% and there was no blockage in the oil line

First thing I do after fitting a new pump is set pressure. But when at your wits end, you sometimes forget the basics. Been there. Sometimes nothing for it only get away from it for a few minutes, like having a cuppa and a chat with the customer and starting from scratch again.

Got us all thinking Dtp. Good to have to give the old grey matter a workout every now and then.

slightly off topic if you do ever come across a riello 40 firing and going to lockout after 12 seconds and you have ruled out the pc and control box and the combination of both pc and cb be suspicious of the coil not usually how a coil goes arseways but had it happen to me once

But I couldn't set the pressure cause it always locked out.

Were you getting any pressure reading during that 12sec run?

After you saying in your op the tiger loop was ok it turns out the tiger loop was the problem. Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier are we?

Where the hell did I say the tiger loop was the problem?
Whatever Google showed up for you when searching for tiger loop, go back and re read it. Btw, a tiger loop isn't when a tiger walks around in circles in the zoo

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,570 ✭✭✭The Sidewards Man

Damaged hose, that would be all the fuel supply. You said in your op post tiger loop ok so suggesting that fuel supply was not an issue.

No, the tiger loop was brand new. rye pump was new.
So where did I say the tiger loop was the problem?

I thought until recently tigerloops wer for filling hotwater bottles

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,570 ✭✭✭The Sidewards Man

Was the hose attached to the tiger loop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,883 ✭✭✭✭Dtp1979

Was the hose attached to the tiger loop?

Yes it was, the oil pump was also attached to the hose. And the 10mm oil pipe was attached to the tiger loop. I still don't see how you figured that I said the tiger loop was at fault.

You threw people off the trail of though with your bad wording in your opening post, anyone that gets information that tiger loop is ok would automatically make a judgement that the person had ruled out its ancillary's. Do you know what ancillary's are now? they are not any zoo or circus related item.

I said the tiger loop was perfect. It was.
I said the pump was perfect. It was
I said the oil line was clear. It was.

You're the one who came along and claimed that I said it was the tiger loop.
You're obviously a troll looking to start trouble. Go away. I'm the bigger fool for feeding the troll.

You messed up this thread from get go, saying the tiger loop was ok suggested the complete fuel system was ok. Can you not comprehend what I am saying?

I'm comprehending that you picked it up completley arseways alright. Surprising that nobody that actually knew what they were talking about came to the same conclusion as you.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,570 ✭✭✭The Sidewards Man

If it was a failed fitting that was connected to the tiger loop would you have still said tiger loop ok?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,883 ✭✭✭✭Dtp1979

If it was a failed fitting that was connected to the tiger loop would you have still said tiger loop ok?

It was obviously an oil problem. I said what was working. I was leaving it to the experienced oil service men ( not diyers like yourself) to see if they came to the conclusion that I did.
If you ever did more than bleed an oil burner ( prob through the pressure adjusting screw) then you'd know every little part has its own role.
I simply stated what WAS working.
