Really looking forward to this meeting, wish I'd planned to go but I'll try make it for the December Gold Cup Meeting instead.

Great to see Uncle Junior still at it as well. He'll have some following if he can get home in front.

Tipzer is running a competition for the whole meeting so if you want to get involved and make some selections for fun sign up at tipzer.net

Now to figure out a way to watch the racing at work tomorrow...

    :D

Hope more of that has a fine chasing debut, i think as de mee could win it though with fitness on his side. 2nd lto to cocktails at dawn, it wasnt a bad debut as cocktails was hard to peg back from the front that day, the 3rd in that race native river since won very well last week.

Josies orders should be tough to beat in the xcountry for edna, hes the master as we know in this sphere and he got this horse winning at the punchestown festival on its debut for the yard after his time with jonjo oneill.

More Of That makes his long-awaited reappearance here. He beat the mighty Annie Power in the 2014 World Hurdle. He was 4 from 4 up until his seasonal reappearance last season where he was well beaten. He did not look his former self. He'd hold very strong claims if reproducing his best form on this first start over fences, but it's hard to be overly confident given that he has to prove himself again plus he's taking on other highly exciting chasing prospects. Paul Nicholls has very high hopes for As De Mee over fences and he can build on last month's creditable chase debut second at Chepstow. The winner of that race Cocktails at Dawn looks an exciting prospect so the form is very good. Ballyalton was coming back from a layoff but unseated three out on his recent chase debut at Warwick, his first start since finishing second to Faugheen at the 2014 Festival. He may need another run to get to peak fitness. Unlike a few of these As De Mee has already had a run this season and looks the one to be on today.

    Selection: As De Mee 7/2

All four runners in this look exciting prospects. Penglai Pavilion was a top horse on the flat, actually came 5th in the Arc. He is 3 from 3 over hurdles and his last win came at the October Cheltenham meeting. He won easily that day and looks on the up. He is a flat bred horse though. Those type horses doesn’t do so well around here with the uphill finish. The exception being the mighty Istabraq. Penglai Pavillion is also very short price for what I think is an open race. I think the national hunt bred horses Shantou Village and Champers on Ice are the ones to look at in this.

Shantou Village won an Irish maiden point last October beating finger on the switch, that horse has since won 3 races under rules. Shantou village was sold to this yard after that run. He won a bumper at Wetherby in March also won a novice hurdle over 2m4f at Carlisle four weeks ago. All three wins were on good ground. It wasn’t much of a race last time out but he did score by 19 lengths from Delsionofgranduer who won next time out. The jockey never moved a muscle on it last time and won very easily. This horse could be very classy and is one to follow today and for the season ahead. Champers On Ice hacked up in a top bumper at Punchestown from a decent Dermot Weld trained horse. This is his first run over hurdles though, he has a bright future but he might lack the experience today.

    Selection: Shantou Village 4/1

This will be the most exciting race you will see all week. It’s the 3 mile 7 cross country chase. There are three rules to these races, follow Enda Bolger, Willie Mullins and Philip Hobbs, horses must have cross country form and course form is also important. You can rule out any horse that hasn’t run over these fences before. It leave us with a list of 5 or 6 horses. Most of them are stalwarts around here and 2 are up and coming in this area. The old stalwarts who rarely run a bad race here are Any Currency, Uncle Junior and Sire Collonges. They are all getting on in age but they should be bang there jumping the last. The other 2 horses, the improvers, are Josie's Orders and Dogora. Josies Orders is trained by Enda Bolger who is the king of these races.

He has won more cross country and banks races than anyone. Josie's Orders has not run over this cross country course before but has form on the proper course here. He did win a cross country race at the Punchestown festival though. His owner J P McManus loves a punt in these races. This race uses to be level weights but this year it’s a handicap. That plays into the strengths of this horse. Josie's Orders can run off a very low weight of 10 stone 2 whereas the likes of Uncle Junior, Any Currency and Sire Collonges have to run at up to well over a stone higher. Enda got a run into this horse recently over hurdles and it did not disgrace itself. Getting weight from all of its rivals is a huge plus and he is sure to be bang there. He also has the potential to improve and has youth on its side. Which can be said for Dogora too. Dogora has had 2 runs over these fences and has run really well each time. It came 4th at the big March Cheltenham festival in a similar race. He is on the up and also has a very nice weight.

    Selections: Josie's Orders 4/1 & Dogora 8/1

    3:25

This is a very hotly contested handicap. It looks an open race but there are one or two dark horses in the field. A Hare Breath has not run for 695 days but has been getting rave reviews from his trainer lately. He says it may be the best horse he’s ever trained. This horse won a point on his third attempt in February 2013. Showed plenty of encouragement in two hurdle runs for Nick Gifford late that year. Was 4 lengths behind Irving, he has since won multiple graded races. On the second occasion he was putting up a bold show before his jumping cost him any chance. He was 4th to Josses Hill in that race. Josses Hill went on to run 2nd to Vatour at the cheltenham festival and was a top novice chaser last season.

A Hare Breath has not been seen for ages but he is very interesting given that form and promise he showed. He has moved from 9/1 to 4/1 in the betting and his yard is also among the winners. The other horse I like is Baraka De Thaix who was third in Grade 2 here one year ago. That was a promising British debut and his trainer reports that he ran him too soon next time when he ran bad. Was a huge price when well beaten in the Triumph hurdle here in March. Has top weight on this return in a hot race but he's a dark horse starting this second season. Of the others Trendsetter is one to watch having his first run in a handicap. His connections love a punt so watch the market with it.

    Selection: A Hare Breath 4/1
    Outsider: Baraka De Thaix 12/1

There are 4 horses in this that I think are by far better horses than the rest. They are Knock House, Super Duty, Alternatif and Return Spring. Knock House is on the up, will have the services of Nina Carberry in this amateur rides race. He has to give a lot of weight away to the field though. He should be bang there but may find a better handicapped horse too good. Alternatif is another David Pipe trained ex french horse who showed a good level of form over hurdles last season. He is on a good mark but his inexperience over fences may cost him today. One mistake at a crucial stage in this race and it makes it so hard to get back into the race.

Two horses who have good course form are Super Duty and Return Spring. Both of whom have been out of form lately though. Super Duty was 2nd in the Kim Muir at the big festival here 2 years back. He is rated 7 lbs lower than that performance today and he has the best amateur jockey in the race on board. Return Spring won 2 hurdle races at this track in the past. He didn't cut much ice last season over fences but is very well handicapped because of it. Both of these need a return to form but I think the course will bring our the best in them again.

Selections: Return Spring 10/1 & Super Duty 12/1

Wow, Nina was nearly hampered twice.

    1st. Josies Orders

    Dogora fell at the last.

I had Josies Order backed so I was following her all race. I was sure she was a goner in the first incident.

Would Dogora have contested the placing without the fall?

Races on Tipzer are live for tomorrows card at Cheltenham.

I think I'm leaning towards Irish Cavalier but the favourite is apparently very well handicapped. 3m is too far for him but this could be the start to his Ryanair campaign.

This looks a 3 horse race on paper. 3 french imports, Oceane, Romain de senam and fingertips will fight it out up the hill. Fingertips showed promise in a couple of 3yo hurdles in France much earlier this year (both on very soft ground). Won on debut then half-length second to Romain De Senam at Enghien. He gets a 2lb pull with that rival today and the stiffer track will help too. He looks an interesting contender on debut for these respected connections. I think he will reverse placings for Romain De Senam. Oceane is the big danger. Won two novice hurdles on good ground, there ground has now turned soft so it won’t help him. Finger tips at 5/1 is a great bet

    Selection: Fingertips 5/1

    1:15

Un Temps Pour Tout brings the best form into this race. He was a very progressive hurdler who was impressive in the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil (3m1f, very soft) when last seen in June, beating a field which included Zarkandar, Hurricane Fly and Thousand Stars. The latter has since won a G1 hurdle. This ex french horse was only having his seventh start for David Pipe then and he has plenty more to offer for the yard. He is the only runner without chasing experience in this race but should be tough to beat if taking to this game at the first attempt. The stable has won two of the last three runnings of this race, both times with a chase debutant. Vintage Vinnie would of won last time bar a fall. He got a heavy fall though and might lack the confidence today. Twelve Roses may be the danger to Un Temps Pour Tout. Was 5th to Faugheen in the Neptune hurdle here 2 seasons back and was last seen in October where he won in chase debut back from a layoff. The form of that race has worked out well. He is not in the same class as Un Temps Pour Tout though. I think he will be favourite for the RSA Chase if he wins this so now is the time to get on.

Selection: Un Temps Pour Tout 11/10 NAP

    1:50

This is an open looking 17 runner handicap run over 3 miles 3 furlongs. With the ground changing it is best to look for horses with soft ground. There are 5 horses in here that standout. They are Upswing, Cogry, Sausalito Sunrise, Shotgun Paddy and Black Thunder. The first 3 are all up and coming horses. Upswing looks like he will stay the trip and is off a nice weight but I think his form is not as strong as a few of the others. He looks a handicap horse only whereas other horses have graded company potential. Cogry is one I really like. He is trained by Nigel Twiston Davies, his forte is training staying chasers such as this one. Cogry was running nice race until he cracked on the run-in in the 4m NH Chase here in March. He fell when on the premises in the Scottish National next time out. He is just a 6yo and has a decent strike rate of 5 from 13. There is a good chance that he can resume improvement this season. 11/1 is a cracking price about him.

Sausalito Sunrise has some top novice chase form in the books. He was runner up to Kings Palace over this course and he is no slouch. He was also running a cracking race until he fell 2 out in a race won by Conygree the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner. His reappearance five weeks ago went well until he started hanging after five out and was pulled up quickly. His trainer reports "he was absolutely fine afterwards". Because of that run I think it’s a bigger price than it should be and looks value at 8/1. Of the others the top weight Black Thunder has a squeak at a big price. He has a lot of weight to carry but has a touch of class about him and always runs well in these type of races. Shotgun Paddy is another horse with a chance. He didn’t run too well last season but he looked a good horse in the making before that. If he can come back to that old form he could run well.

    Selections: Sausalito Sunrise 8/1 & Cogry 11/1

    2:25 Paddy Power Gold Cup

This is the big race of the 3 day festival and it is always a cracking race. As always is looks very open on paper. I’m going to put up three horses for it as I do fancy all three. There’s a horse in this that I really fancy and I can’t get over how big of a price it is. That is the Nicky Henderson trained Cocktails at Dawn who is 18/1 with betdaq. I really think that this horse could very well be a grade 1 winner in the making. His trainer thought enough of him as a novice hurdler to run him in the Neptune against Faugheen. He showed a lot of promise when he first started over fences but he did not live up to that promise on his next three starts, including when well beaten behind Irish Cavalier at the festival here. His trainer was a bit mistified why he ran so bad but he changed up his training regime and gave jockey orders to ride him more prominently. He clicked back into form in a very major way at Sandown to end last season. He won by 26 lengths and the 2nd was a further 14 lengths ahead of the rest of the field. There have been plenty winners come out of that race since.

He resumed that form with another win at Chepstow five weeks ago on his seasonal reappearance. He has definitely turned a corner. Being switched to front-running style for those wins really made the difference. It will be much harder to make all in this race but I think he is still well handicapped and is great each value at his current price. Two others that I like in here are Generous Ransom and Buywise. Generous Ransom was 3rd to Cocktails at Dawn on that run last season at Sandown. He was beaten by 40 lengths that day but has a 20lbs turn around at the weights today. He has top form over the course and distance and is also great value at 20/1. The 3rd horse I like in this is Buywise whose form ties in with Generous Ransom. Buywise was an unlucky 5th in this race last year and runs off only 2lbs higher today. He was also unlucky in the festival plate here last march. He needs to clean up his jumping but with a clean round he is sure to be bang there. I’d suggest all three each way.

    Selection: Cocktails at Dawn 18/1
    Outsiders: Buywise 14/1 & Generous Ransom 20/1

    3:00

This like all of the handicaps at this festival look very tricky to find the winner of. I like 3 horses in here. I’ve heard some good things about Batavir in the past and his trainer David Pipe has won 2 of the last 3 renewals of this race with a similar type. Ex French and only four starts for this yard. Won two 2m5f handicaps last season and looked a candidate for 3m before flopping at Doncaster but that was on good ground. Reverting to softer ground here looks a help and he could still be very interesting at 3m.

The horse that could put it up to him and may very win is Dark Spirit who has to carry a lot of weight. He is still on the ip though and proved that by winning over this course and distance last time out. His jockey also claims 7lbs off it. An outsider in this not without a chance is Rons Dream. He showed some nice snippets of form last season and his trainer does well with second season hurdlers. He went well for a long ways last time at Chepstow over a trip shorter than this. He was bang there until he faded after jumping the last. He needed that run and should be fitter today. At 25/1 is is not without a chance.

    Selections: Batavir 11/2 & Dark Spirit 11/1
    Outsider: Ron’s Dream 25/1

    3:35

On the form I think this is a 2 horse race between Herbert Park and Champagne Express. Herbert Park has yet to run out of the first 2 in 5 starts. His win over Qualando is top form. That horse went on to win the Fred Winter Hurdle at last years festival. He is also proven over this trip and further than this trip. He will take a lot of beating. Champagne Express was 3rd in a good point to point. Work in Progress was just ahead of him that day. That horse has won several times since and beat one of today's rivals Western Way by 8 lengths. That gives Champagne Express the advantage on a few of today's rivals.

He was successful on his rules debut in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow (2m3f, good to soft) in February. Was beaten favourite at Newbury the following month but that was a decent race and he remains open to progress for top yard. The last day he got outpaced early on and did his best work late on. He is sure to be suited by this longer trip and looks interesting on handicap/seasonal debut. Both of these horses will prove successful to follow this season. As for today I think Champagne Express could have the edge. I’d advise to bet without Herbert Park if possible.

Selection: Champagne Express W/O Herbert Express

    4:05

On form Copper Kay looks the best of these. She is closely related to one of today's rivals, ‘Which One Is Which’. Copper Kay was a good fourth in Listed contest at Sandown in March and has since gone gone on and demolished a field on his latest run when readily beating a subsequent scorer at Newton Abbot on good to soft ground. Major player on form but there are a lot of horses in this with unknown abilities. She’s no cert but I really like its chances. Her half sister ‘Which One is Which’ won well on debut. He hacked up and looks a top prospect. I wouldn’t be surprised if the two fight out the finish.

There are 2 long shots in here that I think could run well. They are Colin's Sister and Morning Herald. Colin’s Sister was fourth at Uttoxeter in May on debut and outran her 50-1 odds when filling same position here last month in a top bumper. She looked big and scopey and ran very green. It took a while for the penny to drop but she picked up really well in the final furlong. This is a better race and she may be better over further in due time but at 50/1 she is worth a small each way bet.. Morning Herald is the other outsider I like here. Ran well in 3 hotly contested bumpers last season without winning. His trainer likes the filly though and I think we will see her true potential this season. At 50/1 she is also another outsider not without a chance.

    Selection: Copper Kay 4/1
    Outsiders: Colin’s Sister 50/1 & Morning Herald 50/1

Raining away over there according to Twitter which should suit both Un Temps Pour Tout who won his last race on very soft and Romain De Senman in the first.

Fair to assume Clonard Street had never seen a hurdle before that race.

    Agreed. Disgraceful stuff.

6/5 at 11:35 and 5/1 twenty minutes later. Hit 50.0 in running after the first hurdle. Something isn't right there anyway.

I got a notification on my phone about this enhancement too but it's now not on their website!? Where has it gone?

Gone. They only last a short period of time or certain amount of take up I'd imagine.

Oscar Rock 20/1 my only bet of the day in the big one. Has a good bit of weight to carry but think he's improving fast and he looks very overpriced to me.

Boondooma / Blacklion and Sausilto sunrise at chelt

Marakoush on his own the doorman at punch

Vicente winning that race off top weight tells us every horse in that race are very average animals

Really like Boondooma, he should be fine with the trip and ground and looks to have a lot of scope for improvement, Dr Newland is no stranger to having a horse spot on for a big handicap.

    Selections: Sausalito Sunrise 8/1 :D & Cogry 11/1 Placed :)

Outsiders: Buywise 14/1 Placed :)& Generous Ransom 20/1

    Outsider: Ron’s Dream 25/1 :D:D:D

    Selection: Copper Kay 4/1 :D:D:D
    Outsiders: Colin’s Sister 50/1 & Morning Herald 50/1

Cheers copper pipe, noticed your in-depth analysis on yesterday's races with good results so followed you today.

    Unfrt through sod's law I didn't back Buywise or Ron's Dream :(

But finished a little up for the day.

I might check back into this thread later on for tomorrow's advice!

There's no way Henderson runs Sprinter Sacre tomorrow given the ground today and what it will be like tomorrow if more rain gets in it.
