Some good deals there. Pity Nespresso coffee tastes like piss.

If you buy the Innissia for 77 you get 60eur voucher for capsules by registering too (http://www.debenhams.com/wcsstore/DebenhamsIESite/Img/PDF_Popup/AW15_Nespresso_ROI.pdf)

    Good shout, OP.

I've been using an Inissia for about 6 months now I really enjoy the coffee. You will be able to get higher quality with a proper espresso machine, good grinder and steam wand but find this a very good balance of quality / consistency / cost / convenience.

By the looks of the price drops it seems that people have come to their senses and realised that these nespresso, dolce gusto and tassimo capsule machines will never give you the results you really want and are just convenient if you're in a rush,
any relation between these beverages and an actual cup of coffee are purely coincidental.

Save your money and get a burr grinder and a middle of the road manual machine, or if you still think this is too much hassle invest in a good bean to cup.

    You won't look back.

Ah here ... it's a bargain alert for a nespresso machine

Why is there always someone in these threads that pops in just to say something completely unrelated :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭epopnomis

Personally I have multiple coffee machines and like a previous poster said the handiness of nespresso machines are great, sure other machines give a better taste but the maintenance involved with them sometimes isn't worth it... Thats just my opinion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,518 ✭✭✭✭dudara

Posters - this is not a thread for Nespresso bashing. You can discuss the merits in the Coffee & Tea forum. I'm tired of seeing these threads being derailed by this type of discussion.

I don't see how it's unrelated when I'm giving people my opinion after having the experience of owning a nespresso and a tassimo but now having a delonghi icona magnifica and a Panasonic fully automatic bean to cup.

Here have a look at this for a real bargain and a machine that will actually produce a good coffee and will save you hundreds over the years compared to buying capsules http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLonghi-Magnifica-ESAM4200-Espresso-Cappuccino/dp/B001EOMZ5E?&linkCode=wsw&tag=fmcgbe-21

I'm only advising people don't get me confused with someone who will come on here and recommend a vario grinder for €600 and a sage espresso machine for €1000.

I'm being realistic and truthful. Take it or leave it.

This is a Bargain Alerts forum not a coffee machine forum, the topic is if it's a good price or not.

The saving is questionable by the way, perhaps someone only has 1-2 cups of coffee a week, then a bean to cup machine like the one you mention doesn't make sense.

Perhaps they want to have multiple strengths/flavours without having a 350 euro outlay before they even buy any coffee.

Nespresso produces a good cup of coffee, of course it's more expensive in the long run if you use it a lot.

Jesus Christ it's like saying Slow cookers are a load of shíte and a Sous Vide‎ machine is the only way to go :D

Which is the best to get out of the top list? Is it worth it getting the milk thing with it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,108 ✭✭✭Peig Sayers

I had one of these in my checkout cart but decided to do a price comparision before I bought. The pixie for €126 was the best price I could find. However, I also had a russell hobbs kettle and toaster in the cart which according to their website were originally €70 and were now down to €35 in the sale. Power City have the exact same models for €29.99 regular price  Glad I didn't pull the trigger on them!

    Always check the prices elsewhere!

I have the Krups Inissia machine, and it's perfectly fine.

The attached Aeroccino only makes milk froth. There's a better version that retails separately from the machines, but it's €99 in Harvey Norman. I bought mine for €65 in the Home & Cook outlet in Kildare a while back. This machine can make steamed milk for a latte, as well as milk froth for your cappuccino.

The Aeroccino that come with all nespresso machines make froth and heated milk exactly the same way as the milk frother you linked to.

Aside from your rant about toasters and kettles in Power City :confused:, if you found the Nespresso Pixie for a cheaper price why not post the link?

Read my post! The Debenhams price of €126 was the cheapest!

Ha ha, what a load of nonsense. The extremely picky (when it comes to coffee) Italian people I know all use nespresso and think its pretty close to making a proper espresso without any of the effort. Most use the aldi and lidl capsules also rather then the original.

Here's a Nespresso pod holder to go with your new machine! Available from Lidl next Monday. Only €3.99

Nice find - they are normally very overpriced!

This is a great BA. We have had a Krupps Citiz for the last 6 years and it has finally given up the ghost after near daily use in that time.
No Krupps citiz on its own in the list but will probably go for the one with the milk warmer as our milk warmer is also 6 years old and not likely to last forever.

    Thanks OP!

Not sure how good that would be at holding your pod. You can get a better version for 10 times the price which will still hold your pod, just hold it much better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,702 ✭✭✭✭BoatMad

I got a latissimi , and the 90 euros credit deal, makes the nespresso pods about the price of the Super value ones, only with better coffee

They have that model reduced on the website, just not as much off as the few linked in the OP.

I have the Pixie with the aerocinno and it's excellent, especially at that price. I use the aerocinno quite a lot, so in my opinion it's worth getting.

Could you post a link to it please?

The only Krups ones I can find are in this list...and none of them are the Citiz without the milk machine!

Moronic analogy comparing the ability of two holders to hold overpriced pods filled with two year old coffee grounds to an eggcup of brown liquid v a cup of espresso with creamy crema.

And €320 isn't 10 times €149. But I understand foundation maths don't work out for everyone.

In relation to the €60/€90 nespresso credit, you just need to be aware that this is spread out into three €20/€30 vouchers whereby you can only use one per order. It is likely that you may have to buy more, or pay for delivery with this method. They then send you the next voucher ten days after your first order. It is still a good BA but I do recall using previous vouchers all in one go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 264 ✭✭r0chf0rt

Does anybody know if you can use these €30 vouchers in the nespresso shop or does it need to be an online order?

All nespresso pods are the same size, so if it works in one it will work in all of them, the quality of 3rd party pods on the other hand can be questionable.

I think the quality of the coffee in the Aldi/Lidl/Supervalu pods is pretty good. However those pods are a thick plastic and the machines are designed to pierce open aluminium pods.

Some people on the coffee forum found that after returning to the genuine Nespresso pods the machine could no longer slice into the aluminium pods properly. You'll also void your warranty, but I don't know how they'd prove that.

I have a Pixie. It's is nearly four years old, and I have never bought a proper Nespresso pod in my life. It has never given me a day of trouble - I used to use L'Or pods from France, and now I use the Super Valu ones. Maybe I have just been lucky.
