Do you use rewards? Any chance I could pocket the points for your tickets? (I'll explain in a DM)

I don't know what rewards there are but if theres anything you can claim back for a resale ticket let me know

Cheers, basically you create an rewards account and gather up points, then use the points to redeem for rewards. Ticket purchase gets you a good few points.

Most of the decent rewards are no longer available outside of the US as they won't ship them anymore
They also had to clamp down on the amount of points you could earn as some Polish guys were using scripts to automate the tasks etc.

ohhh **** is that like the myvegas game rewards? FFS I've bought UFC,ROgan & Tyson tickets for this trip and didn't know tickets could build up points?

I didn't use any rewards in December(I wasnt staying in MGM hotel which limited me & I forgot while I was there anyway lol) so I've got a stack built up between FB game & mobile backjack. Pity can only use 3 prizes per trip, think I'm going for $75 gambling credit(2 prizes split over a 50 & 25) and Ive got a ticket to some magician(Chris Angel) which I'll either try to goto on Wed night,if I arrive early enough, or Thurs before Tyson show.

Nah, this is specific to UFC so Rogan and Tyson wouldn't count.

However, those tickets might count towards MLife which is another rewards program. :pac::pac:

Basically staying in the MGM gets you points and going to events in MGM gets you points as well. Also, any other MLife hotel or MLife events e.g. Excalibur etc.

They give you an MLife card when you redeem your MyVegas rewards, but you can also sign up online beforehand. The concierge would probably be able to help with ensuring you get your points for those events.

If theres anyway to claim back on the UFC ticket send me the details.

Yeah mlife, thats the myvegas site. I had to sign up online for that when claiming the prizes back. Ive not got a card but they might give me that when I get there. I still need to goto desk to reclaim the actual reward.
I'll also bring along my info for Rogan & Tyson shows to see if they can do anything with that.

    You can have mine.

You can have my weigh in barcode either way.

I don't think they're up yet, if you can confirm?

You're a gent. Helping us out big time. Shooting you a PM.

I don't think I do use rewards - the closest thing I can think of is mLife, which I've signed up for but never used (useless!).

Doesn't look like barcode is up yet - there's just a blank yellow space to the right of the event on ufcfightclub.com. Will keep an eye and ping you once it's up.

    Thanks again.

Anyone else on here travelling for UFC 196?

Hoping to gather info on whats happening in terms of sessions each of the nights, nightclubs to head to and general Vegas stuff while over there, as there seems to be a lot less going to this one than the Aldo fight.

5th time in Vegas, 2nd time to a UFC event (UFC178) so can exchange info and ideas for places to drink and head to.

Hey man we get there Thursday evening heading to the tyson show then not sure out and about the town any recommendations on good spots that wont cost an arm and a leg for drink?

Weigh in and press conference the next day then try meet some fighters around the MGM n about and about again.

For cheap drink and a decent buzz you can't go too far wrong with O'sheas and Bills Gamblin Halls, a decent place to stock up on beer or margaritas and the music is decent. If there's a crowd of ye they have beer pong tables too and pretty cheap pitchers of beer. Plenty of dive bars down towards the MGM though.

Decent way of getting into clubs on the cheap is throw your name down on a guest list and say it's 50:50 Male to Female, befriend a group outside the club and ye get in for free, works a treat. (it can $30-40 otherwise)

Just found out Bills Gamblin Halls is gone, used to be very cheap and decent craic.

Yeah that's the one, you used to be able to get $1 beers (it was muck but drinkable). O'sheas is definitely great craic all the same, and for gambling the buy ins and min. bets are pretty low. Did ye head to Fremont street before? it's decent for a few hours, cheap drinks and old school music and atmosphere.

Don't remember being on fernount but was with the misses at the time, so I'd say we will play some low stakes n try get free drink.
Anyone know where the after party is?

I never made it out down freemont street before but I wanted to. I heard its good and more old style Vegas rather than the strip. I'll defintely try to take a trip down this time around for a few hours. Heard theres a few dodgy characters around it though, someone saying earlier in this thread they had a bit of bother at 194.

I'm thinking about trying to do a grand canyon trip this time aswell. Due to very limited time & the chance for a tick on my bucket list I'm considering a helicopter trip. Has anyone done it, any recommendations or anything that would be good to know? How about gun ranges? FS last time I was there I didnt realise there was a place about 200 yards up from my hotel

Definitely reccomend a trip to Fremont. I stayed a night there and had no hassle, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear they seen dodgey characters. It adds to it though. The bars and casinos are sleezy and still smokey, but it's decent craic. There's a zip line there too which brings you right through Fremont street.

The helicopter ride is decent. We went for the champagne breakfast one so we landed in the middle and had sandwhiches and a bottle of Champagne. I reckon check out Groupon for stuff like that, there's some decent offers. It takes roughly a 25-30 minutes to get there, VS 4-5 in a car/bus.

Also check out Sundance for the heli thing, they seem to be one of the most popular and well rated on tripadvisor.

It was me who had a few people following me at Fremont, nothing serious but they were clearly up to no good. It wasn't even dark.

If you stay on the 'Fremont Experience street' - You will be fine, I've been before and never had bother. Although saying that, some homeless dude randomly coming up to me in a casino while I was playing the slot machines. 'Give me some money man' ... 'No.'...'Come on, give me some money'.............'No.'........Rinse and repeat until he finally ****ed off.

It's a great place for cheap drinks, low minimums when gambling and there are some really good food places as well. But it does cost about $30 to get there, use Uber for that.

For the price it was i have to say i thought the grand canyon trip was a bit underwhelming. I didnt land and do the picnic though. Its a good chunk of your day gone, again you meet your tour, collect other people, get there, get kitted out, weighted, all that stuff....just be mindful of that

Id defo recommend a trip downtown tho, its got great character and its much cheaper than the strip, worth going down for a nosey

Does anyone know if there's anything happening on Thursday in Vegas relating to UFC? Don't get to Vegas until Wednesday night so will miss the open workouts tomorrow unfortunately.

Same as that preddy. Two of us landing in Thursday and heading along to see Tyson. Few pints and will see what happens after that. I'll be wrecked at that stage but I'm sure a little beverage called an AMF will sort that out!

Hoping to head to the battlefield gun range either fri or sat morning-mid morning, looks like a bit of craic. Prob hit Fremount street one of the nights.

    Alright lads,

I'm a Dublin based journalist doing a piece on how a UFC fight in Vegas is different from any other Irish sporting event. Would love to get a few words from any fans that have been at previous McGregor fights in Vegas and are going over this weekend. The sport needs as much support as it can get in Ireland as some still don't even recognise it as a sport here, drop us a message at 086 397 9433 if you're up for a chat before you go.

    Many Thanks!

Anyone who has been, wanna give us an autopsy on your trip? Id love to hear what it was like this time round, didnt see nearly as much coverage on social media as the last one (im talking 'the irish in vegas', and all the videos that were doing the rounds). And then of course what was it like after he lost?
