Remarkable scoring from Brian Casey -

Bad day from Moynihan - not sure what went on - as he was in a good spot up to now - an 80 today , never imagined he could score an 80.

A tough life - This is only to get to final stage

Hurley and Dunne have slipped too.

So what's the next step for Dunne and Hurley? Do they keep going to Q School or rely on invites.

There's one more round today. If they get back into the top 20, they move on to the final stage of Q school next week.

    Otherwise, its porridge.

-4 for Paul Dunne today. That moves him up to 9th at the moment but there are a lot of players left out on the course.

I doubt that will be good enough to qualify outright but it might get him into a playoff

Usually ties get through as well at Q school, lets hope he isn't 1 shot short.

Very disappointing for Gary Hurley, had started the day 1 shot ahead of shot Paul Dunne but only shot level par. Best we can hope for now is Casey and Dunne to join the others at stage 3.

-9 from Jack Hume today but I suspect he will just miss out. T13 right now so needs some poor scoring from the remaining players to stay in the top 18.

Dunne finished T17th. 2 out of 6 to progress if there is a playoff.

Looks like there's a play off taking place, first spot gone to Victor Riu.

T-18 at the moment and looks like guaranteed a play off as nobody behind then can improve. Would be between 6 guys for 1 spot though.

Scenario would only change if a couple of the guys higher up had a bad day and fell back that might open up another spot or 2. They have a 2/3 shot cushion before there round started though.

Brian Casey joint leading qualifier in his section at -24.

6 guys currently T-18 including Hume.

The guy he tied with is an amateur so he won't have to split the prizemoney :)

    €1,800 for him so.

No update on the play-offs for a while now. I'd imagine it must be pretty dark there now. Maybe they have stopped for the day.

As far as we can tell, Dunne and Hume still alive. I wish there was more info. We don't know if anyone has been eliminated in the playoffs - just who eventually gets through.

No update on European Tour site since 14.51 so looks like finished for the day.

Dunne through on the 6th play off hole. That's huge for him.

That's some pressure there, fair play to him.

Jack Hume eliminated after 6 man play off according to Brian Keogh....it looks like 19 went through from Las Colinas...anyone know why & only 18 from all the other venues?

Is Damian McGrane going to Tour School? I thought someone here said he had retired????

He is on the entry list. There is talk he was going to retire or at least step back. Maybe Q school is a way of keeping his options open?

Apparently its unofficially sort of "frowned upon" to look for invites if you haven't bothered to actually attend Tour School when you could have.

Fair enough - that would explain McGrane's entry so.

Championship course seems to be easier for scoring, but still a great round for Magee.

Staduim course is the most difficult every year. Makes Dunnes recovery all the better.

    O my God. Poor guy.

Dunne, Thornton and McGrane are doing OK. No joy so far for Lawrie, Phelan or Casey. They all have work to do to make the last two rounds.

    Mcghee +11 for the day

Poor guy shot 87 and dropped about 150 places. Gonna be tough to get out of bed for him tomorrow to continue in tournament.

    How many get tour cards?

    30 I think.

Absolute shocker from mcgee. Did he get an injury or something??

    25 and ties.

Really bad hit to the confidence unless he's injured himself in some way.

Very disappointing considering how well his challenge tour year went!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,749 ✭✭✭Speak Now

McGee +14 for last 11 holes, surely an injury? At least he already has decent challenge tour status for next season although he'll be wicked disappointed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,749 ✭✭✭Speak Now

No injury it seems, just had a mare according to the Times.

Ah hell. The poor guy. It must be so tough to play again today. i'd say he just wants to bury his head.

Lawrie doing his best to match McGees nightmare round today.

The retired McGrane obviously feeling less pressure than the rest! Might be only himself and Dunne that make the 72 hole cut.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 680 ✭✭✭A.Partridge

I know there is still another round to be played before the cut...but it would appear at this stage that the only Irish player in contention for a tour card is McGrane....and he's supposed to be in retirement!

I sincerely hope the lads like Dunne and Thornton pick up their game tomorrow. But, have they left it too late?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,749 ✭✭✭Speak Now

McGee -1 after 15 on the stadium course. Makes no difference at this stage but it must be good for his sanity after yesterdays collapse on same course.

A few birdies for Kevin Phelan to get back him around tomorrows cut mark.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,749 ✭✭✭Speak Now

Great back 9 by Kevin (30).

    After 3 rounds

    T26 - McGrane -7
    T48 - Phelan -4
    T55 - Dunne -3
    T71 - Thornton -1
    T123 - Casey +6
    T143 - McGee + 10 (12 shots lost in the last 7 holes yesterday frown.png)
    DISQ - Lawrie + 17

So Dunne, Phelan and McGrane are in line to make it through, and maybe Simon Thornton if he goes well tomorrow.

Thornton up to -3 after 3 holes today. Cut currently at -1.

I suppose the main objective for them all today is to make sure they get through the cut and worst case scenario have Challenge tour status (moreso for the guys with no current card).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 656 ✭✭✭hurleronditch

2 birdies in 3 for Dunne, taking him to -6, one outside the automatic cards now in T28th. 3 to play.

Very well placed to push on over the last 2 days
