Unlucky though. If the one they had ruled out a couple fo weeks ago was offside, then this one was offside today.

EDIT - how come no one made a match thred for this or is there one?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Chelsea are on top, especially first half, but not a whole lot for Butland to do really.

If it was any other manager I'd feel bad for them in this kind of predicament. Mourinho though? Absolutely hilarious.

Hazard comes inside far to often

Chelsea playing better then they have done in several weeks. Definitely the better side so far but the seem to lack confidence and cohesion in the final third. For all their possession they haven't created too many clear chances of note.

    Doubt Stoke will hold out

Chelsea have been the better team, but they aren't creating. Stoke look solid and good for their lead at the moment. It'll be interesting to see if Chelsea have enough on the bench to change it.

It's bizarre saying this about Chelsea in the first week of November but I think if they don't turn this around in the next 15 minutes that's top 4 gone. If we say 70 points is the general requirement then they'll need to somehow go from their current form to a 2.25 ppg average for the rest of the season, something I just don't see happening.

    Deserved a goal there

It just aint happening for Hazard

    Looking for Jose

Where in the world is Jose Mourinho

I didn't see the League Cup game, but listening to Matt Le Tissier doing the match that night, Chelsea didn't deserve to lose the game and they did equalise in injury time. I think Walters that night scored around the same time as the goal tonight.

This seems to be going a similar way. Let's see if Chelsea can grab something.

What was Matic at in the corner?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,974 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    That's dangerous from Butland!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,023 ✭✭✭Barr

    FFS Remy

We really shouldn't be losing this game.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,839 ✭✭✭Caovyn Lineah

Probably should have had a penalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,925 ✭✭✭pudzey101

fairplay to remy for staying on his feet , no doubt if it was costa hed be still rolling around

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,661 ✭✭✭Fuhrer

That should still have been a penalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,313 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Probably should have had a penalty
For what? There was zero contact.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

Could that not still be a penalty? Butland got nowhere near the ball and Remi had to jump over him and it definitely disadvantaged him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

matic is a shadow of the player he was last season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,762 ✭✭✭jive

Should have been a penalty anyway, that's the reason why players aren't honest. Refs won't give anything unless you hit the deck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,219 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Remy goes down there and it's a pen. I think it prob should have been anyway. Strange the way no Chelsea player appealed.

Incredible that wasn't given. Great decision, but 99/100 refs will give that I'd say...

Yeah because Remy leaped over him, he could have just ran into him and left his legs give way as most players would.

no they wouldn't. If he went down they would.

Costa can't buy a goal at the moment

Continued improvement from Chelsea on display though.

If he did. It was a penalty.

As it happened now. No penalty as there was no foul.

If he went down then he was diving. Is that what you want him to do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,219 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Can give the penalty without contact. It's still an infringement .. Intent etc.and under the laws of the game it's a peno.

How would he have been diving? Butland would have went through him, he didnt have to jump over him.

remy needs to learn a thing or 2 from ashley young about going down

Yeah, i still think that could have been brought back for a penalty. If that was a defender who did that rather than the keeper, it would look more blatant. I know there was no contact, but it was a wild swipe that Remi had to avoid and it disadvantaged him getting a clean strike on goal.

Should've been 2-0 there. Feck it.

Exactly, everything is in the favour of the referee to give that one.

Stoke have defended very well though, especially around the edge of the box, they're flying out.

And it's for that reason players aren't honest. No advantage for not play acting and intentionally taking a touch.

Strange to see Chelsea trying long throws into the box against Stoke. Maybe they should buy Delap. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

This Chelsea story gets more incredible by the game. It's like Klopp's last season at Dortmund.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,689 ✭✭✭bur

Chelsea opting to take a long throw in the last minute of the game. Love the symmetry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,023 ✭✭✭Barr

Hard to know how Chelsea lost that game. Stoke defended well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,398 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

I am guessing Mourinho watched the game from the airport departures lounge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,581 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

This is great. Mourinho surely the most hated manager of all time finally getting his come uppance.

    Well I'm enjoying it anyway.

I suppose the question on everyone's lips well be: with the relatively poor start they've had this season, can stoke get top ten finish this year?
