    Anyone ever seen this before? I shot this last week. It has a 'horn' growing above its beak!!

    Anyone ever seen this before? I shot this last week. It has a 'horn' growing above its beak!!

    To me it looks like 5 bird that had a bit in that was never taken out so it grew out through it. Normally bitted birds get a double beak from them but this looks like it grew through the proper beak and left the false one

    Yeah once the bit is not taken out you can get this and twisted beaks

    I've shot one or 2 rooks over the years with deformed bills.

    Same here. I shot a pigeon some years back that had a bill just like a cross bill.
    Shot a rook with with a bill of about 5 inches.

    The reason is they get bitted and it deforms their beaks. Some lads leave in bits until they are released and it fecks up their beaks. Most birds wit bits in too long get a big crook on their beak like a hawk. Can make it hard for them to feed
