Funny how playing a similar 11 over Christmas can be used as a disadvantage when it suits while having a "settled" starting line-up was used as a positive not so long ago.

Games were coming thick and fast though.
Also we had almost no options off the bench

We are settled and the 11 seem fresh. Plus Ozil and Mert back for tonight after their rest.

We had a couple of changes made through it. Anyway no excuses tonight, draw would be a poor result against this Liverpool side.

Yes, yes it is truly comical.

Obviously as only one of them can be correct.

I mean it's good to have a settled first 11 but rotation and subs obviously must be bad

Or is it rotation and subs are good but we have to do it so much that we don't have a first 11 that are used to each other

Which do you think it is button

Because it couldn't be a combination

    That'd just be funny

It doesn't matter if we're settled, or rotate, it's all about the Coq. He must be kept away from the team

Was sickened with the draw against this lot last time. Really hope Wenger and the team get it right tonight. Hopefully Everton can do us a favour as well

Hopefully a draw between spurs and Leicester too.

Yeah, masterful tactical analysis from this thread so far.

Either play the first 11 into the ground or have no first 11

Also Flamini is better in the team than Coq.

Having 3 of our back 4 play I think it was 35,33 and 29 games in a season wasn't enough to be "settled", I don't see much room between those figures and " having" to play them "all the time".

What was this you were referring to out of curiosity.

It seems you wanted to have a pop at someone about something fairly obvious.

I mean clearly you want a set first 11 with good on-pitch relationships but over say a busy Christmas you want an option or two.

So who made this outlandish statement in the past?

    Ugh. The Pool.

Jesus, we better win tonight. Better turn up. These are the pool in name only, their players are crap. I'm still furious we didn't beat them in our gaf.

Not interested in a draw. Want to beat them out the gate.

It was around summertime, someone claimed United winning 3 in a row was down to a steady/stable defence (rather than quality) which we didn't have. I did some digging and an one of the three years United had terrible defensive instability, the other 2 they had similar stability to what we had last season when we only finished 3rd.

Their pressing game will work well against us.

We won't hoff it up to bypass that part of their game like a lot of teams.

    Are Walcott and Ozil playing?

Press away, lads. Go for it.

Cech, Monreal, Kos, Mert, Bellerin, Ramsey, Flam, Campbell, Ozil, Walcott, Giroud.

Mignolet, Clyne, Kolo, Sakho, Moreno, Henderson, Milner, Can, Ibe, Firmino, Lallana.

A lot of their first team back, I wonder how fit they are

Toure and Sakho centre defence pairing for Pool, seems very weak to me, if we are on form we should be able to break that down we some ease.

Liverpool will be hard to beat at Anfield. Never easy there.
If they score first we are in trouble.
We don't usually do well there if we go behind.
Very important we are focused from the off and everyone does their bit. Plenty of energy needed tonight.

Would have been nice if the Beast returned from retirement for this game, he loves Anfield!!!:pac:

I fear we could be outdone in the midfield and with the high press. Them liverpool three are great workers and solid footballers. Flamini and Ramseys ball retention under pressure leaves a lot to be desired.

Klopp good at these big games against teams he knows from his Dortmund days. Can only be one hell of a battle. We will surely score against that defence though.

Yep, their pressing game won't suit us at all.

Let them have the ball, go back to what we did near the start of the season. They're pretty rubbish, just keep a solid 4 with wingers and Flamini/Ramsey patrolling in front.

Nice Arsenal lineup, if everyone turns up to play we should be fine.

Mignolet is succeptible , put im under pressure
Clyne is poor, whomever is on him can exploit.
Pool centre back pairing is poor, we need Giroud to turn up and put in a shift and not fall about
Strong midfield from pool, that will be a battle
We we should be comfortable to keep Firmino and Llanana quite.

Tactically Id like to see us sit back for a bit and let pool get themselves disorganised and exploit the fast break, nick a goal, if its scoreless at HT then press on a bit.
Pressure is on Pool to win the game, they need points fast. A draw away to liverpool is not a bad result, but I still think
we will win by 2 or 3 and Id say we will win a penalty and pool have a sending off .

    Campbell's great.

He's really involved at both ends of the pitch.

Also I think we should just try to win corners.
