English Premier League Betting

Just thought I'd set up a dedicated Premier League betting thread as I only bet on soccer I know and watch.

Looking at next weekend Sunderland at 7.5 and Liverpool at 4.5 catch my eye.

I think Sunderland are still being overpriced based on their recent results rather than the current set up. I think its fair to ignore most performances pre Allardyce.

They will be set up to draw against Everton but they do have goalscorers in their team and I think 7.5 is too big.

I very rarely back Liverpool but I think playing away from home will suit them in the short term. Chelsea have been very poor and I think Liverpool are well capable of winning this match. I think 4.5 is on the big size.

Both are minimum bets and a double too.

At a glance I think Stoke will beat Newcastle but I don't like the 3.0 available and Southampton may be of interest -1 at 2.5 but I'll decide later in the week.

You're a mad man if you think Pool to win is a good bet in my opinion.

1 win in 13 games? 8 Draws. Chelsea may not be playing great at all, but I still wouldn't touch Pool. I think it's a model to be a draw, both teams utter crap tbh.

I won't even comment on the Sunderland point.

Going for a midweek accum -

    Liverpol
    Everton
    Southampton
    Chelsea
    Arsenal

    Pays about 11.0

Also backed Southampton -1 at 2.25 for the weekend.

I fail to see why this needs a seperate thread. You're not giving any write-up or reason

The clue is in the title. It's specific to the premiership.

Is a write up and reasoning a requisite when posting ?

You could be on to something novel here.

Anyway, as it's obviously bothering me I'll stay away rather than post. Good luck with it anyway.

As I only bet on premiership teams I'm hoping there are others that are the same and will post too.

This should probably be in the challenges/logs forum really.

If not, you should just be posting in the daily bets thread with the formatting that you use.

    That's not badmouthing it - It's just a suggestion.

    Discussion is the idea.

Did you do that Liverpool bet?

Did you do that Liverpool bet?

Yes indeed. Hopefully Sundeland can frustrate Everton for at least the first half and maybe nick a goal in the second half.

Not much sticking out next weekend except maybe Newcastle at the price.

I think Bournemouth have gone to pot and they'll really struggle for the rest of the season.

Newcastle have been playing better than recent results suggest and are getting plenty of chances to score. I think the 3.75 available is too big. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to get 3 points.

The only other game that catches my eye is united v west brom. No goal scorer looks the obvious bet but I may try and find a better angle. The 9/1 for west brom might even be worth a small stake.

Profit. Not bad and I think Sunderland were better than the result suggests. They were missing their first 2 choice centre backs (which I didn't know when placing the bet) and I'm convinced they will be safe from relegation by April.

The Saints -1 were my main bet of the week and along with Liverpool returned a healthy profit. I didn't back Newcastle as that price thankfully.

Third Acca in a row where only one team let me down.

Did not see those goals happening at the Hawthorns.

Just seem thy Newcastle have gone from 3.75 to 3.25.

I want to do the bet but want to see team news. Lesson learned from the Sunderland game.

I'm also looking for a price on Newcastle -1.

Yeah. Can't see past Newcastle in that game. Have backed them twice at 3.25 and also -1 at 5.75.

Think it will be my only bet of the weekend. May do an Acca if Newcastle win the early kick off.

    Acca on 2.5 goals

    under 2.5 goals

    Leicester game @ 2.00

    United game @ 1.85

    Over 2.5 goals

    Norwich game @ 1.95

    Sunderland game @ 1.95

    Acca pays about 13/1

    Great result.

Have had to have a very small bet on west brom and a small bet on no goal scorer.

A bit early but Chelsea -1 and Swansea also -1 look like a nice double. Might go Asian for a bit of safety. I'll keep an eye on prices over the next 7-10 days.

Thanks for the offer, but why would I bet with a stranger when I can bet with Betfair at the same odds?
I had a small bet pre-season at 170, and another at 50 recently.

Chelsea to creep into 4th position is 16/1...might take a punt at that.

Seems more than reasonable to me.

If you think it's between Liverpool and Chelsea, which I do, then they have to reel in and pass liverpool who only have a 6 point buffer with a lot of games to go.

That's a really really good value bet.

Thought that price was a bit of it's head.

Chelsea top 4 is best price 7/2.

More accurate and still a decent price.

I was looking at the relegation situation to see if i could find any value.

I just don't fancy Watford to maintain so I've looked at their price and fixtures.

In their next 4 matchers they play - man u & norwich at home and villa & sunderland away.

Those fixtures will really paint a picture for the rest of the season. Sunderland and Villa, under new managers, will view those games as winnable and a chance to reel Watford in.

If Watford do lose 2-3 of those games they then have games at home against Liverpool, Spurs and City sandwiched with games away to Chelsea and Southampton.

I think it's fair to say that those 9 games will either see them near safe but in my opinion it's more likely to see them truly drawn into the relegation battle.

So before they play the "easier" 4 games I think I'm willing to take a punt on them being relegated at 10/1 as their next 6 games are really really tough and I would not be surprised if they went pointless in those fixtures.

So a fairly decent punt on Watford to get relegated at 10/1.

Seen the price with Skybet in yesterday's column with Paul Merson.

Going with this. Asian -1 double pays 4.33. Have had a decent bet on this. Premiership betting paying it's way so time to increase the stakes.

Also gone -1 handicap double on both teams paying 6.96.

    Decent single bet had.

Some weeks I struggle to find a bet, or value, but this week there is a lot of games I like but finding it hard to narrow down what bets to do.

I'll put up a list of the games tomorrow and my thoughts but I know I'm going to find it hard to narrow my bet down.

The Everton bet seems very straight forward.

Looks like a great weekend for premiership betting and I have too many fancies so don't really know what to do. So any thoughts on bets would be great. I can ramble so I'll try and be concise below.

Villa v's Watford - Can't see many / any goals in this game. Watford will be delighted with a point against a team they see as relegation rivals and Villa will not want to lose this game. Maybe under 2.5 goals @ 4/7

Bournemouth v's Everton - Both teams very attacking. This will be a cracking game but Everton have the quality and form to put this to bed. Lots of options here - Everton to win @ 6/4. Over 2.5 goals @ 4/5. BTTS @ 8/13. Maybe BTTS and Everton to win @ 7/2. Lukaku to score anytime @ 11/8. I just see goals and an Everton win so maybe even Everton HT-FT @ 3/1.

Sunderland v's Stoke - Big Sam has started the process of avoiding relegation with a good away win at Palace. Stoke have been getting good results so both teams will be confident but both teams are setup not to lose so I see a very low scoring game here. No goal scorer would not surprise me @ 8/1 but maybe the safer option is under 2.5 goals @ 4/6. Reckon this game will be awful to watch.

Spurs v's Chelsea - Not hot on this but I think Chelsea can win this game. The only thing putting me off is that seemingly Jose was unhappy at halftime in Europe with Costa and Hazard. So maybe some players are not responding to him but I think the atmosphere here will insure a really good game and I think Chelsea can win this game @ 2/1 but it's a very skinny price.

West Ham v's West Brom - Hammers struggling without Payet and Pulis has West Brom playing to their maximum as usual. Think Pulis teams are always better value away from home and the Hammers haven't been great at home. Boring game here so under 2.5 goals @ 4/5. Wouldn't be at all shocked if West brom won @ 10/3 and if they do then 0-1 is the most likely outcome @ 11/1.

Liverpool v's Swansea - Looks a home banker so finding the best angle re prices. Maybe Liverpool HT-FT @ 13/10. Beneteke @ 1/1 to score anytime is also of interest.

Palace v's Newcastle - Another home banker here. Palace HT-FT @ 7/4 is the bet for me. Newcastle are woeful and Palace will be desperate to improve their home form and they will.

Tried not to ramble too much and would love to be able to work out some acca's but finding it hard to narrow down as obviously some of the above won't happen.

Here is a stat worth knowing - so far as many games have been won by the away side as the home, obviously the odds for the away side tend to be longer all other things being equal. Hard to know if this will continue of course, some teams like Leicester have had quite easy aways, some like Liverpool have had very hard travels but have lost only once.

I know certain managers setup not to lose and especially away from home. The onus is usually on the home team to attack.

I think quite a few teams now have more flair up front so if they've got their defensive unit sorted then that allows the flair players to cause hassle at the other end.

Playes like Bojan, Shaquiri, Bolassie, Zaha, Cabaye, Mahrez, Payet, Lukaku, Barkley, Deulefeo, Ayew and Mane are all playing for teams that are possibly overachieving and those attacking players could arguably play for 'better' teams.

Imagine if Pulis had 1 or 2 of those players to call on.

Allardyce is probably the best example of a manager getting 'surprise' results over the years away from home. Sets his teams up properly then tries to get the flair players in to win him the game. I think Sunderland will survive this season and I expect some surprise results on the way.

Busy weekend but no real joy. Just the one acca landed. Everton killed my weekend. Killed it.

Can't remember a weekend when I fancied so many bets. Have 3 picked out for next weekend so just a case of what treble to do.

Looking forward to collecting some money this weekend. Some prices are shortening already on the bets I fancy so time to get busy.

Can't see past Chelsea, Southampton and Liverpool.

    1 - Straight win treble pays 3.15

    2 - Chelsea -1, Southampton -1 and Liverpool win pays 7.22

    3 - All 3 teams -1 pays 11.28

4 - Asian all teams -1 pays 6.05 and this may be the safest option and will be my main bet.

I'll have a small dabble on 2nd and 3rd option listed too.

Strongly considering back Sunderland away to Arsenal @ 10/1 draw no bet.

Arsenal are depleted. Big Sam will be set up and loves to get one over Wenger. His players now believe after back to back victories. He will see only one major threat to nullify and that is Ozil. Expect Cattermole to pick up an early yellow (need to get a price on this) while getting stuck in to Ozil early doors.

Was just throwing the same thoughts around in my head yesterday looking over the fixtures. I remember a few seasons back Big Sam directly targeted Fabianski from set pieces to get the win against Arsenal (although it was away from the Emirates in Ewood Park) - No doubt he will have something up his sleeve going into this with rough house tactics. I'll probably look for a bet around evens on Sunderland to score a goal etc. Hope that DNB lands for you though.

He will definitely have to deal with Ozil, hadn't thought of a Cattermole card so cheers for the heads up. Will keep an eye out for that.

No. Palace are too good away from home and Everton would worry me when seeing out a game from a winning position. They don't sit and protect. They try and score more which puts me off. I think most games involving Everton and Palace, no matter who they are playing, will be very open games.
