Ok the dust has settled a bit since Duffy v Poirier was cancelled so I think now is a good time to open the discussion thread.
**Please use this thread to discuss the event only.**
Any other discussion about ticket sales/refunds etc should go in the other thread HERE (which I'll close tomorrow)
    Where to watch:
You can watch the prelims on FightPass from 6pm.
The main card will be shown on FightPass and also on Setanta Ireland and 3e from 9pm.

Breese had to get naked to make weight whereas Pendred came at 169, I think.

Bit of a scuffle at their stare down too.

    Excited about the Scottish fighters

They blew the roof off Glasgow and they look pumped for Dublin

I'm thinking a Daly and Seery double looks pretty good.

Main event is hard to call and Parke is a pretty short price.

Is it usually 30 mins they allocate to a fight, or thereabouts, so we're looking at Pendred being on around 7.15-7.30 and Daly about 8.15-8.30 or so?

I don't follow Spurs, but YES we need the other two, must be hard for Conor watchin that, I know he wants them all to experience the success he has.

He was beaten by both Spencer & Umalatov

Not surprised but feel for Pendred. He cant help his lack of striking talent.

Thankfully I bet with my head, 1 down in my 5 fold accumulator.

Could very easily be cut. After Miocic said that he's been told by Dana White to be more exciting if he wants a title shot, fighters like Pendreds days are numbered with the company if they're not consistently picking up wins, and even at that some of his wins have not been in any way convincing.

2 losses after some boring fights and he could easily be on his way.

Plenty of empty seats about. I went up to one of the seat supervisors about 20 minutes before the first preliminary and got moved to block D row 9. Front and center 9 rows from cageside. The seat supervisor had a handful of probably 200 tickets minimum. She flicked through them to see what was a good one to give me. If she is the only one with those tickets fair enough, but if there is a few others doing the same that means a lot of unsold/returnes tickets. Atmosphere is still top notch however.

What % full is the arena? Hard to tell from Fight Pass footage!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

That was a complete mismatch. Pendred can often use his size and strength to grind out wins but he looked much the smaller man here, and Breese's skills looked on a different level aswell. Pendred seems like a nice fella but it's shocking how his striking hasn't improved a bit in the last year. Breese is a beast though.

Not sure where Pendred goes from here. Winning fights saved him in the past but once you start losing in the UFC it's always dangerous for a fighter with an unexciting style like he does. Never seen anyone with such slow strikes. Honestly you'd see better more dynamic strikers outside Supermacs on a weekend night.

Not far off 90% I'd say.

Really sickened to see Duffy celebrate like a lunatic when Breese beet Pendred. I know Breese is training in tri star but Duffy could have contained the celebration when a fellow country man is being beat.

true but probably not helped by mcGregor slagging Duffy off as a fighter previously. Duffy probably has an anti-SBG view.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was breeze that gave duffy the concussion with just a tap!

Jesus lads of course he's gonna cheer on his teammate, they're prob good mates.

Or it could be he was just delighted to see his team mate win his fight..

Do ya think the UFC have even the slightest desire to give Pendred to CM Punk now?

    I didn't notice that.

The way the UFC have been cutting guys lately I wouldn't be surprised to see Cathal gone.

it's probably both, although I'd think he wouldn't cheer the loss of a fellow irish man. We're a small nation and all that jazz...

Fair enough, it's understandable...but don't bill yourself as "Irish" Joe then.

Anyone know where the best spot for heading out afterwards would be? Have a couple of mates in there looking to know

He is ****ing irish. He had his irish tattoo back when he beat Conor who is super ****ing irish whenever he steps foot in the octogon. You'll probably cheer is parke loses later despite him being born on the ireland

Yeah he should be more pro irish as per the people on this forum are, no one ever says anything bad about mcgregor or cathal on here!

Isn;t it Scottish Joe or Canadian Joe according to McGregor? :D

Couldn't/Wouldn't/Shouldn't blame Duffy one single bit for celebrating his team mates win PLUS who knows what slabbering might have went on between Duffy & Pendred in the past when Joe fought Conor.

Surprised that was a split decision Jotko looked really good.

Ah I know that, but a bit of decorum wouldn't have went a miss. Will do him no favours, particularly among the McGregor die hards.
