Táim ag léamh 'Mother Tongue' le Bill Bryson faoi láthair agus san leabhar tá sé ag labhairt faoi fuaimniú agus litriú focail Gaelach. Deireann sé, "Beaudhchais ("thank you") is "bekkas".
Ní fhaca mé ríamh an litriú seo. An botún é dar libh?

Aon seans go mbaineann sé le ceann de na teangacha Ceilteacha eile, seachas le Gaeilge na hÉireann?

No, tá sé cinnte ag labhairt faoi Éireann! Aisteach!

De réir na léirmheasanna ar Amazon tá an leabhar sin líonta de bhotúin.

Mílitriú ar 'buidheachas' - 'buíochas' sa nua-litriú - atá aige ansin, agus níl an fuaimniú i gceart aige ach oiread.

Deireann sé gurb ea 'gweeree' an fuaimniú ceart ar geimhreadh freisin! Hmm..

    *osna* :)

I gCúige Mumhan deirtear "gee-ra" agus "geye-ra" ach ní chloisfí "gweeree" in áit ar bith.

Ffs...deireann sé gurb ea 'tea-sack' an fuaimniú ceart ar taoiseach. Caithfidh mé an leabhar seo a chur síos.

Airgead éasca don údar! An-seans gur cheap sé nach léighfeadh Gaeilgeoir riamh é.
